Vaccine experiences please!

I've had my text, sitting on the fence and need some real experiences. I am early 40's, no health conditions. Not anti vax at all just struggling to decide whether or not to have it. Friends/relatives I have spoken to have experienced side effects (tiredness, fuzzy brain, no energy) since having it even a month or more down the line with 2nd dose being worse (AZ) Some report no reactions at all! I feel like if I am not sure then I shouldn't go ahead? I feel like I want to wait until further down the line before going ahead, is this silly?

So what will help? I’ve had two doses and apart from a bit tired and sore arm for two days I’m fine.

It’s all anecdotal OP.

I’m not sure how strangers can reassure you if you’re willing to be swayed but family and friends

ghostyslovesheets · 30/04/2021 18:17

Pfizer - mildly sore arm first one - sore arm and a headache for 24 hours second

Covid (Oct 2020) - 8 weeks off work, 12 weeks off exercise, continued periods of fatigue - felt like shit for a long time

ghostyslovesheets · 30/04/2021 18:18

to add - 51 with mild underlying health issues but generally very fit, healthy and active

Sanchez79 · 30/04/2021 18:20

Yes, you're being ridiculous.

I'm mid 30s, healthy, had both doses of AZ and both were fine. No side affects apart from slight loss of appetite after dose 1.

Stuffin · 30/04/2021 18:20

I know people who have had AZ and Pfizer and felt really unwell.

But apart from the sting of the needle going in I have had nothing. Not even an arm ache afterwards.

I went expecting to feel rough for a few days and was pleasantly surprised. I am late 40s and have not have covid (tested negative when close contacts were positive).

Pyewackect · 30/04/2021 18:20

You don’t want to get Covid. You really don’t.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:20

Just trying to get a few other views outside of my own circle. I am terrible at making decisions about anything tbh!

Had a headache, nearly lost a friend and her baby to Covid. Happy with a headache.

Thedogscollar · 30/04/2021 18:21

Had 2 now Pfizer 1st one sore arm only the next day 2nd one given at beginning of night shift again sore arm tiredness and achy body for a few hours then back to normal. Age 59 no underlying health problems.
I'd rather have those symptoms than chance Covid.

GintyMcGinty · 30/04/2021 18:22

I had no side affects at all
Mum no side affects at all
Dad felt a bit rubbish for 3 days
Sister had a sore arm
Aunt no side affects at all
Uncle had a head ache for about 24 hours

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:22

I have a few friends that had covid, all recovered well thank goodness but appreciate this is absolutely not the case for other people

CastleCrasher · 30/04/2021 18:23

Only had first dose so far but no issues beyond a sore arm for a couple of days and a "hot flush" type feeling that lasted a few minutes. From very large group of friends and colleagues, the worst side effects were no worse than a bug would be, and the longest they lasted was 48 hours. The cast majority had nothing beyond a sore arm

tootiredtospeak · 30/04/2021 18:23

I feel the same 44 and slightly nervous about the blood clot issue why I dont know as I took the pill for years. I am not fussed about feeling ill I just know it will make me feel anxious after I have done it for that 1st 3 weeks and that I could so without.

Thedogscollar · 30/04/2021 18:23

OP I've seen young healthy pregnant women nearly die with Covid. I'd recommend it to anyone why wouldn't youConfused

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:23

@Yesmate so sorry to hear this x

Hi I had the Pfizer one I had a headache and felt a bit crap after the first one very sore arm. The 2nd I didn’t feel anything just a bit tiered. I’m 32 with health problems. My mum had the Oxford and was really unwell flu like and the 2nd was fine my brother had Oxford and he didn’t feel ill at all for either. I think it’s definitely worth it as covid will probably be a lot worse. Good luck I hope it goes well for you if you decided. It’s a hard time at the moment but I definitely think it’s worth it.

Stuffin · 30/04/2021 18:25

It is perfectly ok to not have the vaccine if you don't want it.

I don't think I need the vaccine and only had it as I expect it will help if I want to travel abroad.

The potential side effects didn't bother me as I take medication and have the view that all medicines have a cost benefit to them. I took that into account and for me personally went ahead with it.

A bunch of MNers aren't going to help you as you will get views from both sides. You can only weigh up the benefits versus risks for yourself.

Thereareliterallynonamesleft · 30/04/2021 18:25

I’m mid thirties, healthy, had the AZ jab (I’m a teacher). DH also had it and we both had quite bad symptoms, feverish and headachy for a few days and completely lethargic. But I’m definitely still having the second jab, it’s worth it to be protected. I’ve heard two tips from other people - one is to keep hydrated, and the second is to take paracetamol as soon as you get home, and then every 4hrs for 24 hours, my friend did that and got no symptoms but don’t know if it works! That’s my plan for the second jab anyway!

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:25

@tootiredtospeak this is me! I think I will have it as it seems that the concensus is that the alternative is far more dangerous but feel very anxious about it

I am 40 and high risk. Had AZ in the afternoon, following morning sore arm and a temp with usual chills and feeling ill the next day. Following morning fine again although sore arm lasted about 3 days.
My early 30s very fit and healthy sister got Covid April 20 and is being referred to a specialist for an ME diagnosis as she keeps slightly recovering only to worsen again.
Please don't risk that, it is heartbreaking to see someone who used to get irritated with me for walking too slowly barely able to climb the stairs.

Yesmate · 30/04/2021 18:26

Thanks OP. They are out of the woods now thankfully. Please, protect yourself. The side effects are nothing compared to the alternative. On another note, I didn’t actually feel the injection so if needles are a worry you can cross that one off your list. The nurse told me it was done and I hadn’t realised

Mooda · 30/04/2021 18:26

Headache, bit achey for 24 hours after AZ then fine. I'm 48. Two previously active friends now long term ill with long covid (one for 13 months, one for 5 months), lives on hold, multiple ongoing symptoms. No brainer for me, I was delighted and relieved to have my vaccine.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:27

I agree, I just want to hear some more real experiences as only know roughly 10 people that have had it x

OP posts:
CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 30/04/2021 18:27

It’s not too bad. 3 weeks in, bit of a sore arm still (but it’s the arm I sleep on), my last tetanus was much worse! If it helps keep everyone safe, and the dangerous side effects of a severe Covid infection are far more probable than the % of cerebral clotting cases, it was an easy decision for me to make.

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 30/04/2021 18:28

I had the AZ. No side effects at all, not even a sore arm.
