Vaccine experiences please!

I've had my text, sitting on the fence and need some real experiences. I am early 40's, no health conditions. Not anti vax at all just struggling to decide whether or not to have it. Friends/relatives I have spoken to have experienced side effects (tiredness, fuzzy brain, no energy) since having it even a month or more down the line with 2nd dose being worse (AZ) Some report no reactions at all! I feel like if I am not sure then I shouldn't go ahead? I feel like I want to wait until further down the line before going ahead, is this silly?

@ Schrutesbeets you do realise that if mn remove my post (which is highly doubtful) they’ll have to remove yours as well since you’ve quoted me? Added to which, the post I was referring to has already been deleted so very clearly it was bollocks.

Schrutesbeets · 30/04/2021 19:01

@AlternativePerspective

But I’ve seen your antivaxx bullshit on other threads and there really is no reasoning with some people. @ Schrutesbeets so, older people should get the vaccine then? It’s ok to sacrifice those in the name of your imaginary side effects? Just so long as the young people don’t have to have it eh? What about young people with underlying health conditions? Are you happy to sacrifice those as wel in the name of the vaccine?

Let’s look at it this way. Either the vaccine is safe for everyone so there’s no reason why everyone shouldn’t have it, or it isn’t safe for anyone in which case no-one should have it.

You haven't seen any "antivax bullshit". What a load of nonsense. The vaccines ARE on trial until 2023. No one should be coerced into taking something that is of no use to them. ALL medications carry risks and as you said yourself - where the benefit outweighs the risk then of course it is for that person to make an informed decision and decide for themselves. For those with underlying conditions and the elderly or vulnerable who are at risk of dying from covid then it makes sense for them to protect themselves. For healthy young adults who are at no risk from covid this doesn't make sense.

Which post has been deleted?! What is bollocks?!

I've had the first Pfizer, after a few hours my arm hurt and that continued into the next day. I'm late 30s with health issues so I was just glad to get a vaccine at all.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 30/04/2021 19:05

If everyone only considered their own needs when deciding whether to have the vaccine then we would never defeat this thing.
My dad is a die hard anti vaxxer but even he has been persuaded to have it, for the greater good.
It's a bit like if your union goes on strike. Of course you don't want to lose a day's pay especially if you won't benefit much from whatever the strike is about but you don't go to work and cross the picket line because the power is in numbers. Go get your vaccine and be grateful that we have the capacity to defeat pandemics without millions more people dying.

LolaNova · 30/04/2021 19:05

First dose (Pfizer) I had no immediate side effects. I had sore lymph nodes in my armpits about a week later for a couple of days. After the second dose (10 weeks after the first) I had very swollen and sore lymph nodes in my armpit and neck for a few days immediately after but that was it. No fever or anything.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/04/2021 19:05

I've had Az and had zero reaction, including no sore arm. I was potentially a tiny bit sleepy after dose 1 but that maybe was just stressful job 🤔

LolaNova · 30/04/2021 19:06

(I’m fit and well and in my late 20s btw)

Sushirolls · 30/04/2021 19:06

@Helptonight as I said, still in trial.

Hopefully the link will work and pic will attach. I am NOT lying, I am trying to help you have an informed choice.

Vaccine experiences please!
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 30/04/2021 19:07

First dose of AZ, fluey shivers and shakes that same night, fine by morning.
2nd dose AZ, nothing,

Dh had no reaction to either.
Dd and Sil had no reactions to 1st dose of AZ.

Schrutesbeets · 30/04/2021 19:10

Do people really think that they should be telling others what to put in their bodies? I find that astounding.
OP, do some reading, have a look at independent sources and those that aren't funded by the same people set to make billions out of it, weigh up the risk vs benefit and make a decision for YOU.
Don't get it to go on holiday or to the pub, don't get it because a celebrity or stranger on the Internet told you to. You have bodily autonomy and CHOICE (for now, thank god!).

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 19:12

Thank you all for your posts, I am reading all of them. I am not anxious of being ill after the injection or needles etc... I am worried about any long term effects it may have. I know, I know - the same could be said of me if I caught covid but electing to have the injection and then having an adverse reaction frightens me. The majority on here seem to have had positive outcomes however. Please don't flame me, I am reading all of your comments and taking the info on board x

PinkiOcelot · 30/04/2021 19:13

No one knows if there are long term implications of these vaccines obviously.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 19:17

@Schrutesbeets thank you for the advice. As I said I am looking for all insight/experiences. I know my family and friends will be unhappy with the fact I am even questioning this so I really am thankful for peoples input and hopefully I will come to a decision eventually!

DH and I have had one dose of AZ. hardly felt the actual jab. Arm felt like we’d been punched for a couple of days but other than that no side effects.

DS had one dose of the Pfizer, no side effects at all.

notanothertakeaway · 30/04/2021 19:19

I had AZ vaccine. My DH had Moderna. We both felt absolutely fine afterwards

AlternativePerspective · 30/04/2021 19:25

As yet no vaccine has ever had long-term implications, and we get a new flu vaccine every year so people could just as easily say that about the flu vaccine.

Also, if we look at illnesses which have caused just as much harm in the past, smallpox, TB, measles, Rubella, all of those illnesses have been curbed by vaccines.

Skigal86 · 30/04/2021 19:27

I had fatigue, chills and headache for 12 hours which started about 12 hours after the jab. By the following morning (36 hours after) I felt completely fine. Husband slept badly the night after he’d had his, other than that, nothing. My mum was a bit achey for a few hours the next morning. Not sure if I’ve had covid but I had covid symptoms before testing was widely available and I spent three days in bed, had the worst sore throat of my life for a fortnight after and got out of breath walking short distances for a couple of months after, jab was like a day at a spa compared to that!

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 19:28

Can I ask another question if anyome knows off the top of their heads - will an additional injection be require each year like the flu jab (which I haven't ever had either!)

OP posts:
chloeb8 · 30/04/2021 19:30

I had Pfizer and no side-effects. Very slightly sore arm. Definitely get it! 🙂

Nexttome · 30/04/2021 19:30

I had the AZ four weeks ago and had no side effects whatsoever. I’m mid-40’s.

Remember that, generally speaking, people will be vocal about a negative experience but not so much about a positive one.

Schrutesbeets · 30/04/2021 19:31

No, WE don't. The vulnerable and elderly do, and even then they have the CHOICE to do so or not FOR THEMSELVES. Not everyone in the population is required to, and shunned if they choose not to.

In answer to your Q OP, yes, it's looking like there's going to be a yearly jab.

AlternativePerspective · 30/04/2021 19:32

Can I ask another question if anyome knows off the top of their heads - will an additional injection be require each year like the flu jab (which I haven't ever had either!) from what I understand there is set to be a booster later this year which will also take account of possible variants, but in future annual vaccination will likely be for the vulnerable i.e. those who have the flu jab at the moment, so it won’t be a full-on vaccination programme on this scale again.

AlternativePerspective · 30/04/2021 19:33

In answer to your Q OP, yes, it's looking like there's going to be a yearly jab. Not for everyone there isn’t.

Tweacle · 30/04/2021 19:33

Mum, dad and I had the az. Mum had a headache for 24 hours, I felt a tad flu like and dad was fine. Husband had the az and was rough but I think he had picked a bug up before he had the jab. My second is next week. I'm of the school of thought that I took the pill for years, so risk is there yes, but I don't think I would survive covid. I'm immune suppressed.
