I've had my text, sitting on the fence and need some real experiences. I am early 40's, no health conditions. Not anti vax at all just struggling to decide whether or not to have it. Friends/relatives I have spoken to have experienced side effects (tiredness, fuzzy brain, no energy) since having it even a month or more down the line with 2nd dose being worse (AZ) Some report no reactions at all! I feel like if I am not sure then I shouldn't go ahead? I feel like I want to wait until further down the line before going ahead, is this silly?

I'm almost 44, overweight, never had covid (that I'm aware of)
Had AZ jab at the beginning of this week, slightly sore arm the next day, otherwise absolutely fine.

The only side effects reported by any of my family circle is feeling a bit tired the next day.

My colleague had a bad headache & extreme tiredness for 1 day. She's previously had covid

SunnyLovesCassie · 30/04/2021 18:28

Had Pfizer.Felt like I was wading through treacle the next day but otherwise fine. DH had his 2nd dose and felt a bit fluey for a couple of days.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:29

@Yesmate I totally understand, it is experiences like this that sway me more towards having it. No fear of needles thankfully!

I had pfizer. I was a bit achey for a day after, more so for 2nd jab, but otherwise fine. I was stuck in bed for a week when I had covid before vaccinations were available (I'm in my early 30s with no other health conditions)

Spanglybangles · 30/04/2021 18:29

I had Pfizer. Mid 40’s, no underlying health conditions. Didn’t even feel the needle. Took paracetamol as soon as I got home. No fever, no sore arm or any other symptoms actually. All good.

The medical and scientific advice is very clear that the best thing is to have the vaccine.
I’m in my 30s and had AZ (in group 6). Felt like I had a heavy cold for 24hrs but that was it, very short lived and absolutely worth it. It’s all anecdotal of course, I know a lot of people who have had a variety of vaccines and most have experienced absolutely nothing worse than a sore arm or tiredness.

WiddlinDiddlin · 30/04/2021 18:33

41, serious health issues, wheelchair user, heart problems, diabetes..

First AZ vaccine as soon as I could get it, month or so back now.

First day (day of jab) fine, bit shivery by bedtime, sore arm.
Day two - felt like I'd been hit by a small truck, shivery, fluey, blech. Not able to work. Sore arm.
Day three - fairly crappy but not so bad, sore arm.
Day four - fine, sore arm if I lay on it at night.

The sore arm took about a week to go but it was only sore if I lay on it so not really an issue.

My second jab is booked in for next month.

I see no reason to be concerned about it, if your gp or any consultants you may have are fine for you to have it then do so.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 30/04/2021 18:33

I had my jab in the morning and my symptoms kicked in in the evening. Generally for 48 hours, chills, aches, bad stomach, felt sick. A week later and I'm still very tired. I'm not looking forward to the second one to be honest. I think I had covid already though and I've heard it's worse if you've had it

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 30/04/2021 18:33

Generally = fever!

FourEyesGood · 30/04/2021 18:34

I had Covid. It was awful, and it took me weeks to fully recover (and I’m one of the lucky ones!).

I had the AZ vaccine a couple of weeks ago. The next day, my head hurt a bit, I was thirsty and my arm was a bit sore.

I would definitely recommend getting vaccinated.

MatildaTheCat · 30/04/2021 18:34

Look at it this way, if you are scared of the vaccine making you feel unwell you should be REALLY a scared of catching the virus. Even if it doesn’t hospitalise you it can make you feel utterly shit and also the approximately one in ten risk of long Covid. Or you could be asymptomatic. The people you may infect may be very seriously ill or asymptomatic.

I was absolutely fine with both vaccines.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 18:34

@Sushirolls thank you for your alternative perspective, my good friend is a breast cancer surviver and told me she refuses to have it. I wish I could be so clear on how I decide whether it was either way!

I have not yet fully recovered from Covid that I caught at Christmas. I am 37. It's the weirdest virus I have ever had.

The jab gave an achy arm and two days of fatigue but not even a scratch on Covid itself.

calamityjam · 30/04/2021 18:36

I'm 44, I had AZ 4 hours ago. I had 2 paracetamols on advice from the nurse, when I got home. So far, so good. I'll let you know how I get on. Fingers crossedSmile

AgeLikeWine · 30/04/2021 18:37

I had AZ in March. My arm was a bit sore for a few days, but I had no other issues. DP had AZ around the same time. He vomited once during the night & felt a bit rough the next day, but still went to work. The following day, he felt fine.

We will both definitely be having our second doses when it’s our turn.

Schrutesbeets · 30/04/2021 18:37

@ghostyslovesheets

Pfizer - mildly sore arm first one - sore arm and a headache for 24 hours second

Covid (Oct 2020) - 8 weeks off work, 12 weeks off exercise, continued periods of fatigue - felt like shit for a long time

But why get the vaccine when you'd already had covid? You would have had natural immunity.
WarProf · 30/04/2021 18:38

Had 1st AZ jab yesterday morning. Sore arm overnight and this morning but seems to have almost completely gone away now. No other side effects so far.

Chemenger · 30/04/2021 18:39

I had a sore arm and felt like I had mild flu for half a day. Compared to the typhoid vaccination I had back in the 80's, when I had a high fever and hallucinations it was a walk in the park. No weepy hole in my arm for weeks like the BSG I had in the 70's.

gwenneh · 30/04/2021 18:39

Pfizer: dose 1 I had a sore arm, dose 2 I had a sore arm and felt generally unwell about 12-24 hours after. Then it went and I feel fine.

Too many friends and family either seriously ill or dead thanks to covid for me to even consider skipping the vaccine.

Sunshineandflipflops · 30/04/2021 18:39

AZ last Sunday. 42, fit and healthy. Flu-like symptoms all through that night and feeling a bit rough all week, headaches, aching arm all week.

I’ll take it over the risks of covid though and am booked in for my second.

TonTonMacoute · 30/04/2021 18:39

60, had the AZ. Didn’t even feel the needle going in, very quick.

Felt a bit nauseous next morning when I woke up and arm was a bit sore for a few days. Felt very tired next day. DH was the same.

My DF (well in his 80s) had the Pfizer, no side effects other than feeling a bit tired.

MIL felt a bit lousy after her second jab, otherwise ok.

therearenogoodusernamesleft · 30/04/2021 18:41

Is your concern about feeling unwell for a short period? I think it's important to remember that the vaccine doesn't just help you, it helps our whole society to get back to normal.

The trouble with giving our experiences is that the 'it was fine' responses won't land with you as much as the melodramatic 'it's not even a real vaccine' ones. However.

I had the Pfizer and had a sore arm the next day.

My parents had the AZ. My Dad felt absolutely nothing, my mum felt like she had flu overnight.

My partner has a mild headache from the AZ.

But we have just buried my grandad from covid, and lost another relative to it in January.

I'm not sure what could be more frightening than the worst pandemic in 100 years? Please have the vaccine.

MeganBanks · 30/04/2021 18:41

it was the worst day ever,i felt really bad, but,I am safe now

kimlo · 30/04/2021 18:42

I had az, late 30's with asthma. I didn't move from the sofa whinging the day after, but if I was supposed to be at work I would have gone. The day after that I went to work for a 10 hour shift and was fine if I kept on top of taking paracetamol, fine after that.

Dd 17 was much more poorly with covid.
