Vaccine experiences please!

I've had my text, sitting on the fence and need some real experiences. I am early 40's, no health conditions. Not anti vax at all just struggling to decide whether or not to have it. Friends/relatives I have spoken to have experienced side effects (tiredness, fuzzy brain, no energy) since having it even a month or more down the line with 2nd dose being worse (AZ) Some report no reactions at all! I feel like if I am not sure then I shouldn't go ahead? I feel like I want to wait until further down the line before going ahead, is this silly?

I had flu symptoms for two days following my first dose of the AZ vaccine. Obviously that wasn’t pleasant but I’m still going to have my second dose later this month.

The side effects are nothing compared to having Long Covid, which I’ve had for the last year.

Az yesterday lay here with chills, sore harm and a headache.

Hopefully won't last to long.

I'm in mid 40s and no health conditions.

I felt quite shitty after my AZ. Tired, sweaty, achy.
But it went away on 48 hours.

When I had COVID earlier this year, it was horrendous. Was out of action for a fortnight and felt shit for two weeks after that.

Apart from the self interest, we need herd immunity and it doesn't sound like you've got a strong reason not to have it.

Thank you Sushirolls and Schrutesbeets for sharing your thoughts backed up by fact from official databases - VAERS for the US and Yellow Card for the UK. There is an EU version called EudraVigilance which collects the same type of data.

It's extraordinary that you can have an opinion on this topic, express it via supposed free speech and it's rendered invalid by many who I suspect feel uncomfortable because it goes against what's being said by governments and officials; the same peoole who have lied constantly throughout this ordeal, I hasten to add.
I've noticed varying levels of cognitive dissonance in many friends and family members who recognise how disingenuous our leaders have been over the past 14+ months but are too intimidated or guilt-riddled to ask questions or push back even a little.
Even more unbelievable that, although it is clearly documented and available to all with access to the internet, people still aren't aware that this programme is, indeed, part of a phased clinical trial until 2023 and the sites quoted above are, as intended, capturing significant numbers of severe adverse reactions and deaths post-jab across the various brands. Interestingly, I believe it's VAERS, has been transparent in their literature online to advise that typically only 1% of adverse reactions are reported for their capture - if that's the case then the large numbers currently presented by them is one small drop in the ocean.

Finally, remaining on the topic of transparency, you only have to look to the vaccine manufacturers' sites and they too are being upfront that taking the jab won't prevent you from catching or transmitting Covid so all this talk about "rather have the vaccine than the illness" is rather moot given that, again there are many examples in the news, of people contracting Covid post-jab - I personally know of one person who did and died.

OP : it is tough; yes listen to anecdotes but I'd always recommend doing your own research and see what your gut tells you. All the best.

I had the AZ on Wednesday and my arm is still a bit sore but no big deal at all. No other side effects. I'm 44. I felt like a rushing sensation when it went in and slightly spacey for a few minutes, but I do think that may have been as I had got myself into a bit of a state because that's what I do in these situations. I feel very grateful to have been given it,

I can't believe people saying that it's just a personal thing and you weigh up your personal risk levels. I thought the whole point about vaccines is that they're a community thing - you may not be at high risk of getting very ill but you still might do and you also might spread it to someone who is.

And as for saying that they're not 100% effective - I don't see that as a reason not to have it. I heard a doctor from India on the radio this week and she said their hcps had all been vaccinated but because of the viral load they are being exposed to they have still had staff becoming infected. However, she reported NO serious cases amongst vaccinated staff. It's anecdotal, as is the account above of an individual dying after having post-vaccine covid, but when you look at the scenes coming from India I still think it's a massively encouraging insight into the effectiveness of the vaccines and I feel so privileged to have had it.

@Helptonight

Thank you all for your posts, I am reading all of them. I am not anxious of being ill after the injection or needles etc... I am worried about any long term effects it may have. I know, I know - the same could be said of me if I caught covid but electing to have the injection and then having an adverse reaction frightens me. The majority on here seem to have had positive outcomes however. Please don't flame me, I am reading all of your comments and taking the info on board x
I am totally with you. I was called a while back and have just booked my first one today. I'm still really unsure, the thing is no one can tell you the long term effects because nobody knows. It doesn't matter that the needle didn't hurt or someone felt a bit shitty after it. No one knows and that is what is causing people anxiety and quite rightly so.

So out of the 10 or so people you say you know who have had the vaccine, how many have actually been ill? How many does this actually apply to, being ill a month or more down the line? My guess is you are talking about 1 or 2 people at most.

You are being irrational and will be absolutely fine. Have the jab and don't make such a big deal out of it. So many people are psyching this up out of all proportion.

Would you rather be injected with the jab or injected with Covid? Pretend those are your choices - because if you don't have the jab you are basically saying you're happy to get Covid and everything that entails.

nancywhitehead · 06/05/2021 16:05

there are many examples in the news, of people contracting Covid post-jab - I personally know of one person who did and died

Can you share some of these with us please?

Because my understanding was that although this is happening, it is largely to people who have had the jab very recently and it hasn't had chance to take effect yet, or people who have only had one dose, which we all know does not offer as much protection.

There are hardly any reports of people who have had both jabs, at 2 weeks after their 2nd vaccine, dying from Covid.

gingerbiscuits · 06/05/2021 16:28

Completely up to you but personally I don't see why you wouldn't have it - the miniscule chances of blood clots & the brief potential side effects are far less risky & concerning than contracting Covid & possibly spreading it amongst the family/community.

I had my 1st dose of AZ a few weeks ago & felt very flu-ey for 24hrs afterwards but that was it - done. Back to normal & fine ever since. The peace of mind it's given me is immeasurable. Bring on the 2nd dose & let's get life back to normal!
