I've had my text, sitting on the fence and need some real experiences. I am early 40's, no health conditions. Not anti vax at all just struggling to decide whether or not to have it. Friends/relatives I have spoken to have experienced side effects (tiredness, fuzzy brain, no energy) since having it even a month or more down the line with 2nd dose being worse (AZ) Some report no reactions at all! I feel like if I am not sure then I shouldn't go ahead? I feel like I want to wait until further down the line before going ahead, is this silly?

@FlyingBurrito ok, I wasn't aware of this i only lurk on AIBU. It is actually helping me personally hearing other people experiences, I realise this may sound illogical to you but I am struggling with this and find talking/debating with others on a subject they have some insight with might help me to come a firm decision easier. Not based on any scientific data but more the human experience element

Why are you labeled "anti vax" just because you want to wait until trials for this "vaccine" have ended?!

JillsFlapjacks · 30/04/2021 20:12

I had the Az, barely had a sore arm, and other than that I had zero effects.

Carpet0fTruth474 · 30/04/2021 20:13

I had my covid vaccine during a lunch break
Worked as normal for the rest of the day
Slight headache
Sleep really well

Thousands of people have sadly passed away from covid in the last year

Please have the vaccines

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 20:13

@AlternativePerspective Hi there, i am sorry if it seems this way. Genuinely looking for insight from those who have actually had it. As I have said the majority who have had it say they felt rubbish for a few days and then no further issues, that seems pretty unanimous tbf from this discussion. I take all on board x

40, AZ, zero side affects.

Schrutesbeets · 30/04/2021 20:13

It's just their way of attempting to undermine and discredit. Poor and sloppy retort with no actual evidence or rigorous backing.
coffeecup88 · 30/04/2021 20:14

I had AZ (I'm mid thirties) had a sore arm and a mild fever in the night lasted a few hours.

DH has his text today (40) and I booked him straight in no hesitations.

Aside from the obviously health benefits (I can not see how it is possible to avoid exposure to covid in the long term) the fact that we don't want to live in lockdown
Forever is a key motivation to get it!

Sushirolls · 30/04/2021 20:14

@Helptonight OP , as an alternative view, there are scientists and doctors who aren't following the narrative, but they don't get a platform as it doesn't follow the narrative...

They made a declaration here -

My arm is still aching from my AZ vaccination on Wednesday, and I felt a bit meh yesterday. Generally fine today, and ultimately very relieved to have been vaccinated. I’m 40.

Many friends have also been seen this week and most have reported 12-48 hours of feeling a bit rough, but I’d say only one in ten bad enough to stay in bed.

HoulYerWheesht · 30/04/2021 20:14

@Schrutesbeets

Also, AlternativePerspective (the irony isn't lost on that name BTW), you still haven't answered why the annual jab will only be for the vulnerable, yet this one MUST be had by all? If that doesn't raise questions to you there's no hope.
Oh for the love of all things holy.

We have here, a new situation. The pandemic and the vaccine roll out is something we haven’t done for a very very long time of at all..ever. This means taking it all a stage at a time, a “suck it and see” approach if you like. We KNOW the vaccine is reducing deaths. We KNOW the vaccine reduces transmission, we KNOW the vaccine rollout as enabled the return of a somewhat normally functioning society (all sources widely available, Google is your friend). Therefore, a reasonable conclusion is that, yes, those that can should have this vaccine to help hold the virus. Nobody is certain what role boosters will play just yet because we are very much in the stage before that. Therefore, it is sensible for the plan to be that the vulnerable with have a booster this autumn to make sure they are protected. As to whether everybody else will have a booster will very much depend on whether there is a need based on risk (will the pandemic be as prolific autumn/winter 2021/2022?) and whether there is supply. Again, all the info is out there and widely available.

It’s not a difficult concept to grasp, it really isn’t. You need half a brain cell, be a vigilant member of society and have the ability to read or at least listen.

omg35 · 30/04/2021 20:15

How about think about how having it impacts the vulnerable in society rather than just thinking about you?

Hesma · 30/04/2021 20:16

I’ve had my first dose of AZ with no side effects whatsoever... not even are sore arm. My flu jab was much more uncomfortable

MagnoliaXYZ · 30/04/2021 20:18

I'm mid-30s, booked the jab the minute I was able to (work as a nurse). Had the Pfizer vaccine and felt absolutely fine after both doses. I never feel rough after vaccines though. Some of my colleagues felt a little like they had a hangover the next day, some didn't.

Ireolu · 30/04/2021 20:18

30s
Pfizer fine after first fine after second.
Only side effect sore arm after both.
DH had the same vaccine and also one single side effect after both.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 20:19

@ThatOtherPoster thank you for your post, that is exactly what i am doing - dithering!

Chanjer · 30/04/2021 20:19

Mid 40s generally very good health. Had 1 dose of the AZ a couple days ago and on the first night I've never felt so ill in my life, crazy high temperature, every joint in severe pain. Didn't sleep at all. Got up in the morning feeling like I'd been hit with hammers all night. I didn't have any pain killers in the house as I never normally have need for them. My OH went out and got some in the morning which sorted some of the pain, not the headache or pains in my fingers, which honestly felt like I'd got arthritis.

This morning felt a bit spacy but as the day's gone on I feel basically fine now

ToffeePennie · 30/04/2021 20:20

I had Astra Zenica.
1st jab - slept for a few hours, perfectly fine after.
2nd jab - slept for a few hours, sore arm for a couple days then perfectly fine.

Flidina · 30/04/2021 20:21

Had Astrazeneca, first jab, slight headache, fever generally off colour for about 12 hours, then right as rain apart from sore arm. Second jab last Friday, no side effects not even a sore arm

ToffeePennie · 30/04/2021 20:21

Oh and I’m early 30s and a health care worker

Roundandballlike · 30/04/2021 20:21

I had Pfizer. Experienced a mildly sore arm for a couple of days. Years ago I had the swine flu vaccine and my arm was agony with that so was slightly worried but shouldn't have. No other symtoms at all. 2nd dose next week and I can't wait.

HoulYerWheesht · 30/04/2021 20:22

As for It’S StIlL On TrIaL!!!!

Here I took 30 seconds to google because I couldn’t bother explaining to you. TL:DR it’s standard for medical trials to be extended after approval for study purposes.

HoulYerWheesht · 30/04/2021 20:24

I can’t get my head around why extended safety monitoring would be a bad thing.

I fear for humanity, I really do.

Helptonight · 30/04/2021 20:24

@omg35 yes of course I understand that element to it also

OP posts:
flippertygibbit · 30/04/2021 20:26

If you want to have it do so, if you don't then don't. I've had first AZ doze - flu like symptoms following day - like pretty much everyone I know incl. DM. I've not had 2nd but DM has and she had a headache couple days but nothing like 1st vaccine.
