To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

I'd *rather have a cold than wear a mask

This comment is deceiving then.

Good on you for wearing them.

Brefugee · 30/04/2021 09:16

If people think the vaccine doesn't stop transmissions and that we should all still wear masks then what's the fucking point of even getting a vaccine?

Because not everyone has had the opportunity to have the vaccination. When that day comes I can well imagine that mask wearing will no longer be mandatory/advised.

Until then it really isn't much to ask to keep up the mask wearing for a few more months.

"I'm alright, Jack" has been around since the 50s (I think) and it's not going anywhere and is absolutely apposite for some here.

It lowers transmission along with lessening the illness. Once everyone is vaccinated then everyone will have those lower rates of transmission/illness/infections and all is good (ignoring mutations).

Until then, we will need to continue with the preventative measures.

SoupDragon · 30/04/2021 09:36

Vile

Not as vile as the selfish "I'm OK" attitudes of some.

SoupDragon · 30/04/2021 09:37

when we get our rights back

🙄

@SchrodingersImmigrant

Didn't they say that there hadn't been a flu season this year?

They did. In mlre than one country. It's the combination of masks and people being forced into basic hygiene

Did the "winter vomiting bug" appear this year?
LeaveMyDamnJam · 30/04/2021 09:39

You wear a mask to protect others, not yourself. Your vaccination status doesn’t mean you can’t transmit as has been said over and over.
Would you be happy to have surgery with the theatre team not wearing masks? I doubt it. Put your bloody masks on.
(I’m asthmatic and wear one with a problem)

LeaveMyDamnJam · 30/04/2021 09:39

Without a problem obvs

QuizzlyBear · 30/04/2021 09:46

I absolutely HATE wearing masks. They've triggered adult acne in me (which I managed to overcome a decade ago) and it's a daily exercise in humiliation, as I'm 44 and suffering as badly as my teenage sons.

I'll still wear masks until enough people have been vaccinated that I won't endanger anyone though because I'm not a dick.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/04/2021 09:51

Did the "winter vomiting bug" appear this year?

Honestly no idea. I never had it and I don't have kids🙈

QuizzlyBear · 30/04/2021 09:53

@Whatisthisfuckery

You’ve gotta laugh at the covid lovers.

I’m worried about having the jab. You must have the jab to protect yourself and others.

I’ve had the jab so I think I’ll stop wearing my mask. No, you can’t do that, you can still pass the virus on.

Whether the so-called vaccine prevents transition of covid very much depends on whether people are being good little sheepies or not.

Oh do fuck off with your ignorant, uneducated Laurence Fox rhetoric.

Having the vaccine stops you GETTING the virus, not GIVING the virus. So, if OP is vaccinated and someone else is not, then OP can still GIVE the virus to someone else. The point of getting the vaccine is to stop you GETTING the virus, the point of wearing a mask is to stop you GIVING the virus to someone else. When everyone is vaccinated then we can stop wearing masks because no one can GET it.

Think about it like the virus is a word. Hearing the word makes you ill. Having the vaccine makes you deaf, so you can't hear the word - but you can still say the word. So, if you're saying the word, someone else can hear it if they haven't had the vaccine. The mask stops you saying the word. Once everyone has had the vaccine it doesn't matter if you say the word because no one can hear it - so you can take your mask off.

CornishGem1975 · 30/04/2021 12:33

But we'll never reach the point of everyone being vaccinated, as some choose not to have it.

So will we carry on wearing masks forever to protect those people, or will we accept they've made their choice and it's their risk to face, and not our problem to prevent?

userxx · 30/04/2021 13:09

@KarensChoppyBob It's not deceiving, it’s very straightforward. I'd rather have a cold then wear a mask.

Coldwine75 · 30/04/2021 13:12

No, you must still wear a mask, vaccine or not !!

UsedUpUsername · 30/04/2021 13:47

Wait, I thought that the science was that you couldn’t transmit COVID after vaccination, as per Israeli studies. People were getting heavily slated on here for saying you could still transmit after the shot. But now you get slated for saying the opposite just a few weeks later 🙄

swimlittlefishy · 30/04/2021 13:49

That's not what the studies say. It very much reduces transmission, its not the case that you can't transmit it, you can. Keep the mask on.

CornishGem1975 · 30/04/2021 15:37

From the BBC two days ago:

A single dose of a coronavirus vaccine can reduce household transmission of the virus by up to half, a study shows.

Those given a first dose of either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines - and who became infected three weeks later - were between 38% and 49% less likely to pass the virus on than unvaccinated people, PHE found.

I certainly feel I should continue to wear a mask while there are so many who haven't yet had an opportunity to be vaccinated. Hopefully in the end sufficient numbers will be vaccinated to protect anyone who can't be.

I feel under no obligation to protect anyone who declines the vaccine - anyone who can be vaccinated and chooses not to be.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/api.nationalgeographic.com/distribution/public/amp/science/article/yes-vaccines-block-most-transmission-of-covid-19

So I’m probably a lower transmission risk than if I was wearing a mask or wearing a flowery lanyard like the woman who leant around me without any attempt to say excuse me or social distance this afternoon. I was wearing a mask btw.

The whole family have already had Covid. I was actually wearing a mask long before they became mandatory and was one of the few wearing them whilst getting stared at and laughed at from last March! I’m done with it now.

Going maskless won’t stop me going anywhere as they are not enforced anywhere I need to go as evidenced by the many people not wearing them Hmm.

God what an awful person you are.

Screw anyone else, eh?

Bragging that you were wearing a mask before anyone else is a new one for the anti-mask Karens!

And no one was laughing at people wearing a mask in March. The lies are just dripping from your mouth.

Not going to bother to respond to the rest of swim's post? Hold on to your delusions then.

Because not everyone has had the vaccine! Why don't people understand herd immunity Hmm also because there are still variants of the virus popping up that we don't know if the vaccine will protect us from. I don't really fancy picking up the Indian variant just because you can't be arsed wearing a mask.
