To never wear a mask again!

MasieMaskless · 28/04/2021 21:58

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

@Clymene

It's strange that people in many far Eastern countries have been wearing masks for years and there have been no additional asthma deaths.

Weird

Omg they never wore them every day for months on end. Just when they were sick or (in China) had a bad air day
SonnyWinds · 29/04/2021 23:54

I'm unsure whether you don't understand how vaccines work and therefore think you can't give it to other people now you're vaccinated or if you don't care that you're giving it to other people and think the purpose of wearing a mask is entirely to protect yourself.
Either way, YABU.

ceilingsand · 29/04/2021 23:58

Wearing a mask lowers numbers of colds and viruses.

Very conveniently for you, others had no choice and were forced to protect you. Easy to say you didn’t expect it, after the event.

You do now have a choice, make the decent one and wear your clean mask for 2 more months until every adult has been offered a vaccine. Payback time for the millions who helped to keep you alive with no gain to themselves, instead often huge losses.

I have already said I will be wearing it until every adult has been offered a dose.

So to the “selfish” brigade-

How much does an unwashed cloth or reused disposable mask reduce transmission? This is what most people wear.”

No, just stupid people. Advice on how to safely wear, remove and dispose of masks has been very easily accessible for months.
The person you’re most likely to infect if you don’t follow that advice is yourself, ergo stupid.

Well I reckon there are a lot of stupid people. Most of the ones I see seem of dubious hygiene and precious little sanitising before and after putting them on. People wear them because they’ve been told, nothing more.

I’m just regular vulnerable not shielding. It’s not “convenient” now I’ve never expected anyone to put themselves out for me. It’s only the fact I have kids that means I’m still here. Otherwise I’d have ended it a year ago: I have no interest in living this life and don’t expect others to do it, least of all for my sake. It

I'm far from agreeing with everything she says but @RedcurrantPuff has said more than once that she will continue to wear a mask. And personal attack on her is unnecessary

OnkasBigMoka · 30/04/2021 01:37

@ilovesooty I can assure you that it wasn't a personal attack until the point that they called people stupid. That you for your view - noted and disregarded.

Are you acknowledging that she said she would be continuing to wear a mask?

BonnieDundee · 30/04/2021 06:01

Yes, there are a lot of stupid people. I am guessing that you may see an example every time you look in a mirror.

Do you feel clever saying that to a poster who is clearly struggling with the situation? I think that's a pretty awful thing to say.

You have made massive generalisations - and when you say "People wear them because they've been told" isn't quite true is it?

Its true for me. I am only wearing them because I.have to

A lot of research has been done by a lot of folk who are smarter than you - oh, and it's currently the law.

We're told not to commit crimes - and don't question that or ask for validation.

Can you honestly not see the difference between theft, murder, rape and drink or.drug.driving or seeing your family?

Stop obsessing and just wear the fucking mask, you're in a minority here.

I'm not sure that redcurrant actually is. This pandemic has brought out the fact that some people just love to feel superior to others. Your post is dripping with it

@ceilingsand

Didn't they say that there hadn't been a flu season this year?

I'd rather have a cold then wear a mask.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/04/2021 08:22

Didn't they say that there hadn't been a flu season this year?

They did. In mlre than one country. It's the combination of masks and people being forced into basic hygiene

KarensChoppyBob · 30/04/2021 08:32

Great for you userxx not so great for those with underlying conditions, those with the infirmities of age, babies, and people having to go through chemotherapy.

But you do you yeah?

KarensChoppyBob · 30/04/2021 08:33

@SoupDragon

I do wonder if some people have missed what is happening in India right now. Is that what they wanted for the U.K. too?
👏🏻
RedcurrantPuff · 30/04/2021 08:33

Oh do one and perhaps also learn to read @OnkasBigMoka

Even when masks were brought in the FM said there was limited evidence they made any difference.

As for not agreeing that people only wear them because they’ve been told, do you think that if they were optional people would be wearing them? Maybe a few paranoid mumsnetters but most people would ditch them.

Besom · 30/04/2021 08:34

The elderly and vulnerable can't all completely isolate though as they need care from others. This is why it has ripped through care homes. Vaccination helping this but free circulation will lead to lots of mutation as I understand it which could become resistant.

I really don't understand why some posters feel the need to be so unkind and unpleasant to others. What's wrong with a civilised exchanged of different views.

Does it make you feel superior to tell others they're stupid when you know nothing if their life circumstances? It's really not Big or Clever. Would you speak like this ti someone in real life?

And, for the record, as I have said earlier in the thread, I am only wearing my mask because it is the law to do so (despite an earlier poster vehemently arguing that it isn't!) and I know many of my family and friends feel the same. So, I think you may not be correct about @RedcurrantPuff being in the minority.

twelly · 30/04/2021 08:44

I agree I am only doing what the law says as I believe that is how society has to operate but I am totally opposed to the restrictions . I think compliance is misinterpreted as agreement

Xenia · 30/04/2021 08:45

I have been against them from the start but wear them for shopping and on the tube even though I might well be exempt (just to avoid a fuss). If they go on 21 June freedom day though I would be burning it with great ceremony when we get our rights back

userxx · 30/04/2021 08:53

Well you continue to wear the mask then eh? Are we trying to eradicate the common cold now too? Why don't we just have done with it and lock ourselves away in a bubble. How is that me doing me? I've worn the fucking thing because I've had to, I'm massively claustrophobic but I've cracked on to keep people like you from tut-tutting. Vile.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/04/2021 09:00

There would be much less hate and arguing if the state functioned in simple ways like some other and gave confirmation of exception to people who genuinely need exception.
Where my parents are you didn't get into the shop or similar places without mask or doctor certificate. It eradicates the "is really third of people in the shop here exception? Are you really? Tsk tsk" They had articles about that btw. With pics from UK tesco etc with many people without mask. People were asking me what the criteria here were for exceptions since there seemed to be a lot.

OrangeRug · 30/04/2021 09:01

If people think the vaccine doesn't stop transmissions and that we should all still wear masks then what's the fucking point of even getting a vaccine? This whole thing is an utter joke. I don't wear a mask anyway so won't be doing anything differently.
