To never wear a mask again!

Now fully vaccinated.

There’s no point to me wearing a mask anymore and I’m seeing more and more people who may or may not be fully vaccinated not wearing them so why should I bother with the discomfort of wearing one?

WIBU to totally abandon them with glee?!

@pumperthepumper
It's not a year, it's about 4 months. I wore it for work in December and washed it then. No, it doesn't smell. I don't wear make-up on my face and only have it in for a minute or so at a time.

I wear it because it's the law in certain situations- that doesn't mean I have to agree with it. Presumably you follow some laws you don't necessarily agree with?

I don’t think it is the law though. Is it? Can you be arrested for not wearing one?

My point was, if you’re going to wear it when you don’t believe in it, why do such a half arsed job and not do it properly?

99victoria · 29/04/2021 16:54

I don't get why you find it hard to understand- it's precisely because I don't really believe in the efficacy of the mask that my attitude towards wearing it is half arsed!

DumplingsAndStew · 29/04/2021 16:54
@Jennifer2021 Nobody I know does that. Mine is in the bottom of my handbag, crawling with germs probably, I wear it for 20 mins a week max when i sprint around the supermarket then it gets chucked back in my handbag.
Then you're pretty disgusting.

Don't judge me by your standards.

DumplingsAndStew · 29/04/2021 16:58

@Mummy1608

If you only wear your mask to the supermarket that means you: -Don't go to restaurants or pubs -don't take public transport

I don't know about you but that seems a bit boring?

Restaurants and pubs have only been open a few days. Many, many people won't have even had the opportunity to visit them yet, if they choose to.

It's boring not to use public transport? How?

EL8888 · 29/04/2021 16:59

Cool story bro. Glad you’re ok Confused

I don’t get why you don’t understand - you don’t believe in the efficiency of masks but you’re also deliberately wearing it in a way that makes it less efficient. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How’s your basic hygiene in other respects?

Pippa12 · 29/04/2021 17:03

God there’s some selfish people on here!

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 29/04/2021 17:07

I kind of hoped some people would keep wearing them for a little while longer in solidarity with those who aren’t vaccinated yet because they still haven’t been invited. You know, the way we all wore masks and stayed at home to protect others even when the risk to ourselves was really small.

99victoria · 29/04/2021 17:08

@Pumperthepumper

Well, I'm not one of those MNetters who washes my towels after every use if that's what you're asking :)

No, but underwear and stuff? Socks? Anything in regular contact with a mucous membrane?

LucilleTheVampireBat · 29/04/2021 17:12

I would pay good money for the phrase "I'm alright Jack" to be banned. It's become as overused and irritating as are you on glue and no is a complete sentence. You'd think it was new and groundbreaking the way it's babbled out on any thread relating to the c word.

My FIL said he thought that when indoor pubs and restaurants were opened he thought it should only be for those vaccinated (preferably twice).

DH told me afterwards he felt sorry for him (once upon a time I was a lawyer) having to deal with my calmly delivered arguments as to why I didnt agree with him

I told him if he was going to say something so ridicously selfish he should be able to deal with the arguments back

WTF? You’re the one offering up information about how little you wash your clothes!

I’d say too, if you’re not going to wear it properly and follow the very, very basic rules of cleanliness, you’re probably better off not wearing it. As I said, it’s not illegal (as far as I know!) and you’ll be saving yourself the grief of wearing a stinking, dried-saliva encrusted mask on your face.

This, in abundance.

I’m pregnant, so who knows if the govt will get their act together enough for me to get vaccinated, but I am sick to death of ‘me first’ people barging me out of the way in supermarkets, on pavements... like, great, genuinely pleased for you that you’re vaccinated and feel superhuman but would it be at all possible for you to stop being a cunt and remember that other people exist.

DumplingsAndStew · 29/04/2021 17:31

@Ednadidit

As far as I know, pregnant women are now advised to get the vaccine whenever it is offered - no need to avoid it due to pregnancy

I’m aware, but there’s still nothing to ensure that you’ll be offered Pfizer or Moderna, so you could turn up and still have to walk away without it. And I still have to wait for them to reach age 31. But cheers anyway.

OnkasBigMoka · 29/04/2021 19:29

@Pumperthepumper it is law within indoor spaces look up - The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings in a Relevant Place) (England) Regulations 2020.

Ah thanks @OnkasBigMoka every day’s a school day! I’m in Scotland but still, right enough 👍

OnkasBigMoka · 29/04/2021 19:41

@Pumperthepumper There is similar legislation in Scotland as well which is on www.gov.scot

Yes, I saw it, sorry, I wasn’t being sarcastic!

Sadsiblingatsea · 29/04/2021 19:46

I agree OP.
Also I wish mask fans would use reusable masks not the plastic ones which are a disaster for the environment.
