Doyou care about Boris Johnson's constant lying?

Kendodd · 28/04/2021 07:24

My theory is that voters don't care.

OP posts:
londongram · 28/04/2021 10:20

I care but surely the people who voted for him already knew he was a liar and didn't care - I know I'm crediting his voters with having made a an educated decision. They wanted Brexit more than they wanted a PM with integrity - that's pretty desperate but why would they feel any differently about his new lies when they didn't care about his old ones.

Frymetothemoon · 28/04/2021 10:20

I think the leader of a country should have integrity, yes.
What else is he lying about?

SancerreSunsets · 28/04/2021 10:21

I care immensely. He's unfit for office. A lot of Tories and the media keep saying 'the public don't really care about any of this' ... almost willing it to be true. Admittedly there are many people who do not engage with politics and don't get upset by the blatant corruption and lies ... but there are an awful lot of people who are incensed and we tend to me more vocal, more engaged, more passionate. That's what I hope, anyway, otherwise I fear for this country and the direction of travel.

WarwickHunt · 28/04/2021 10:24

I don't mind. He has a track record of lying throughout his career. It was well known when her was elected. People have accepted it.

Missillusioned · 28/04/2021 10:25

I care. And I do mind if politicians have affairs. If they can lie to their wife like that they have no integrity.

I don't think it's helpful to say "they all lie, that's what politicians do". The point is they shouldn't and we should scrutinize them and hold them to account when they do. We need to say no that's not ok and stop biting for them when lies are discovered.

Otherwise we will spiral down into total corruption.

Missillusioned · 28/04/2021 10:26

Biting! Voting. Please don't bite them either.

Doomsdayiscoming · 28/04/2021 10:27

I’ve voted Tory all my life. I’m not going to stop now just because we have a degenerate in charge.

Clutterbugsmum · 28/04/2021 10:28

I care because else is he hiding. His life is one big lie and cover up to show him the best light.

I also think that the apartments above No 10 and No 11 need to be like any other 'rented' accommodation as in the resident can bring in their own furniture but the actual decoration of the apartments are not changed every 4 / 5 years when the occupancy's changes.

Moonstone1234 · 28/04/2021 10:29

The Dyson issue - I am not concerned. It could be that if the workers worked in the UK they could be liable for double tax and that isnt right.

The redecoration of No 10 more so but again there are more issues to worry about.

What I would really like to see is a credible opposition. Labour look like they could be in the wilderness for years. Corbyn was offered up for 3 years, it wasnt a blip. That was unforgiveable behavior from Labour. Diane Abbott I think it is a double agent. There is no way anyone would think she was able to be Home Secretary. I think she is ill and needs to retire.

So we are now left with Starmer and Momentum. Owen Jones or Ash Sarkar anyone?

Yes, Johnson is under the microscope but a combination of Corbyn, Abbott, McDonnell, Sarkar and Jones. Does anyone really think that group of people would be better than what we have now?

roarfeckingroarr · 28/04/2021 10:30

Not really. I don't care about their flat refurb or the "chatty rat" leaks either.

CornishGem1975 · 28/04/2021 10:31

When he was elected, he was already known to be a liar, yet people still voted for him which tells me, no people don't care.

Show me a politician that hasn't/doesn't lie.

Of courses leaders of countries should have integrity, but they rarely do. That's why they get to those positions in the first place.

UthredofBattenberg · 28/04/2021 10:31

I care very much. Unfortunately I seem to be in the minority, so I dont hold out much hope that anything will change.

The out and out lies and corruption and back handers that have come to light in the past year is beggars belief. And still people dont give a shit. Sad

Brefugee · 28/04/2021 10:32

I’m not remotely bothered about who paid for doing up the flat, as long as it wasn’t the taxpayer

There is a 30 grand allowance to refurbish the flat. It is taxpayers' money. Each PM does it.

Now it turns out he's spent double that. Someone has 30 grand's worth of 'you owe me' over Johnson.

Pp isn't bothered about the PPE contracts going to mates? You know they didn't deliver, right. That front-line staff were put in danger of their lives?
Dyson never delivered one ventilator. Other ventilator suppliers with experience and capacity were ignored.

Dido fucking Harding failed upwards to get the T&T job, and we know how that went.
But it's OK because Brexit has done and a few European countries are having a bad 3rd wave and vaccine roll out.

You deserve him. Sorry for everyone else stuck with him though.

For the pp who brought up Clegg & tuition fees. Manifesto pledges are only possible in a majority govt. Junior coalition partners have zero power. The LibDems paid heavily for that blunder at the next election.
Tony Blair lied about WMD? What happened? Millions on the streets. Did he win the next election? He'd slunk away by then. John Majir's affair was pretty harmless since he didn't shower his partner with public cash - I did lose a bit of respect for him though.
In the 80s MPs resigned over relative paltry amounts of cash (for merely asking) questions.
Now? It's corruption central and an "opposition" more interested in moving away from its roots than actually working for their constituents.

As for they all lie - there are degrees, aren't there?it's about where you draw the line and how (if) you hold them to account

iminthegarden · 28/04/2021 10:33

It's politics. He's in the middle of a concerted smear campaign by Cummings. He didn't want a second lockdown, as many others didn't and I can imagine he might have said something like "I'd rather xx than have a third lockdown" because come on let's face it. None of us want this. As for the flat, who really cares, it'll be made sure now that it will be transparent and as long as it won't have come from taxpayer cash, it's not a biggie for me. Tbh for everyone saying how uncaring this guy is I've been absolutely astounded at how strict our lockdowns have been compared to everyone elses, especially around Europe when they could quite clearly see what was coming their way over the last few months. He's gone way beyond what I though a Tory govt would've done in an effort to save lives. We were seriously unlucky to get such a virulent strain over the winter and I'm glad labour weren't in as we'd be likely be stuck like most of Asia and Europe sitting around waiting for vaccines with endless restrictions for the next few years. I think we need the positivity of someone like Boris to help us bounce back.

Branleuse · 28/04/2021 10:34

I care in as such that i think its shit and corrupt and we are all up shit creek, but I dont care in that I am not even feeling surprised anymore and that it doesnt matter what we want, or what happens, they just do what the fuck they want anyway.
Im getting a "sitting with popcorn watching the world burn" kind of vibe, but then I occasionally remember that its us that its happening to, which makes it less funny.

WinterIsGone · 28/04/2021 10:36

Clegg & tuition fees Yes, that's absolutely not in the same league!

AuldAlliance · 28/04/2021 10:36

You make your own luck.

That Australian variant is looking scary. Or the New Zealand one. Or the South Korean one.

Oh wait! They don’t exist!

ShitzandGiggles · 28/04/2021 10:39

I think the thing with Boris is, he never claimed to be a saint. What he is is what you get. He’s a cheeky chap pie and doesn’t (appear to) give a fuck, and that’s why the majority of voters voted for him.

The majority of voters are fed with woke, they wanted out of the EU, and Boris was the man to do it. No-one else seemed to have the balks to do it.

Do they will turn a blind eye to his affairs, clangers and some lying and dodgy dealing up to a point.....

Most people want to get on in life, to better themselves, ensure each generation does better than before. Socialism is not the way to do that. Boris projects confidence in himself, his party and our country. That’s what people want, not bleeding heart wokism, and that’s why his peccadillos will be overlooked, up to a point.....

KurtWilde · 28/04/2021 10:40

Of course I care. He's supposed to be running the country ffs. What's the point in calling them 'honourable gentlemen' if they're clearly sketchy? May as well just say yeah we're gonna lie and there's nothing hon can do about it.

Jesusmaryjosephandthecamel · 28/04/2021 10:42

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Yes. Unfortunately I don’t think the way him and Carrie Antionette carry on will change much in terms of voting next time round. It’s not like there’s much in the way of credible opposition.
Totally agree. I think all parties and politicians are as corrupt as each other. There’s absolutely no viable alternative though at the moment.
blueangel19 · 28/04/2021 10:46

all Doomsdayiscoming 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Stereotyping much. And that pork pie says it all.

Kendodd · 28/04/2021 10:46

For those who know he lies, don't care, support him/would vote for him anyway.
Why?

If you know he lies, so he's standing there telling you lies (like he did to business people in NI) what exactly are you supporting? You know he has this history of lying so his words are meaningless.

OP posts:
Tossblanket · 28/04/2021 10:46

Every politician is a self serving lying cunt.

Guy Fawkes had the right idea.

Viviennemary · 28/04/2021 10:46

I'm not voting Tory either although I was planning to. More because of Cameron's greed rather than Boris.
