Doyou care about Boris Johnson's constant lying?

My theory is that voters don't care.

OP posts:
BatleyTownswomensGuild · 29/04/2021 17:21

Yes I care. Given tons of public money to mates companies instead of offering contracts out to tender transparently. The track and trace system is a great example - it's a total joke and barely works.

Lied about Brexit - billions promised to NHS etc.

Tried to shut down Parliament to run down the clock on the whole Brexit thing.

Gave out tons of taxpayers cash to Jennifer Acuri at the same time he was knocking her off.

And that's before we start on the total fuck up he made of things at the start of the pandemic. He's a shambles.

And I don't believe 'they are all the same'. Whilst nobody is perfect, there are many politicians who act within the rules. Boris doesn't think the rules apply to him.

Moomin12345 · 29/04/2021 17:23

No, Boris is fab. With his folksy jibber jabber and common people's hairstyle.

Peregrina · 29/04/2021 17:24

Could any of you see Boris Johnson being able to pick fruit? How long do you think he'd last before he knackered his back and had to slope off to the pub to recover and never come back?

Ditto Cameron, he's surely in need of work.

Moomin12345 · 29/04/2021 17:28

What's the point if he could raise fruit? The point is, he'd get a million pics taken of him 'raising fruit' and they would be plastered all over front pages of newspapers. His ilk doesn't actually need to do any real work in his lifetime.

Moomin12345 · 29/04/2021 17:28

Pick fruit *

Here's what his former boss, Max Hastings had to say...

I see what you mean - Max Hastings is quite direct isn't he;

MAX HASTINGS FOR THE DAILY MAIL

During 13 years of power, Labour has failed abysmally to reform public services, above all education, or to equip Britain to earn its living in the 21st century. ...

No one expects the Chancellor to seriously address the chasm in the public finances, because much of the pain would fall on Labour's huge client base of benefit claimants and state employees. ...

I do not for a moment believe that Labour's fortunes have recovered because the public warmed to Sarah Brown or decided that her husband is not really the bumbling zombie he appears...

Gordon Brown has parted company so decisively that he will never rejoin planet Earth. ...

Notonthestairs · 29/04/2021 17:50

I am assuming Browns client base included the same public sector workers we have been relying upon over the last 15 months.

And Hastings must have been thrilled that the nurses weren't given a pay increase and that the Tory's couldn't bring themselves to vote in favour of school dinners for the vulnerable in school holidays.

Yes but ... It's the DM so ...

Myothercarisalsoshit · 29/04/2021 17:55

And Max Hastings is very clearly a right wing commentator which makes what he has to say about Alexander Du Pfeffel all the more astounding, non?

Clavinova · 29/04/2021 17:56

Notonthestairs

So you don't trust Max Hastings' opinion after all?

Fascinating but what has that got to do with us having a PM who is a well known liar?

Clavinova · 29/04/2021 17:59

And Max Hastings is very clearly a right wing commentator

Apparently he voted for Labour in 1997 and 2001 - Conservative in 2010.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 29/04/2021 18:00

Clavinova - Do you mean me?
I've just explained why it is noteworthy - given that MH is a right winger - that he should say this:
he is unfit for national office, because it seems he cares for no interest save his own fame and gratification.

If they are the same then they will get criticised as well. As Clavinova has so kindly shared if politicians fail they get criticised. At the moment the No 1 failure is Johnson so he gets the criticism, when others were failing they got it.
ancientgran · 29/04/2021 18:04

@Mittens030869

*Yes Theresa May was not going to put a customs barrier in the Irish Sea, which Johnson has done, after voting against what May had agreed.*

That was the ‘backstop’, which the DUP also rejected. They admitted later that they’d made a mistake with that as it was a much better deal than the one Boris negotiated with the border in the Irish Sea.

Is that why Arlene Foster has to go? I'm not keeping up with what is going on in NI at the moment.
Frustratedbeyondbelief · 29/04/2021 18:04

To my mind .. if you vote for someone who is KNOWN to lie, and be feckless.. why the fuck would you care when they lie and are feckless ?

I would NEVER of voted for him !

Clavinova · 29/04/2021 18:11

They certainly will if Mr Sunak takes over from Johnson.

Indeed. What do you think that is about? Rich fisherman and their rotting scallops? Cheese exporters? Huge profits in the decimated leisure industry?

Maybe it’s about the huge profits in one month where people have rushed out after shops have opened? Maybe it’s around about the false security of furlough that is hiding job losses from Brexit. Perhaps it’s because GS run the US economy and are basing predictions on a rise from the lowest performance in G7 to a surge because of U.K. shopping confidence based on vaccination programme.

They are hardly an independent voice. Their former chairman joined the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee, the new watchdog set up to protect the public from another financial meltdown.

I’m sure there’s a huge amount of money created through the pandemic that will improve how our GDP looks. That isn’t going to be in the ordinary person’s pocket though, is it? It’s from boost to all those wonderful companies who took millions from the public purse for not delivering essential media equipment. I think the term is profiteering....or corruption.

DuncinToffee · 29/04/2021 19:12

So, if jobs aren't needed then who is going to pick the fruit?

Anyway back to the thread, ir seems we shouldn't care about Johnson's lies for a bit longer

NEW: Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards says she will reveal which MPs are currently subject to an investigation but after the elections next week.

So will have to wait to find out for sure if PM is subject to an Commissioner inquiry into the flat and his Mustique holiday. t.co/ZgC4uoph6i

If you don't like Goldman Sachs - how about Ernst & Young;

UK growth prospects significantly brighter in 2021 as EY ITEM Club publishes upgraded economic forecast.

The upgraded forecast primarily reflects the UK economy’s resilient performance in the lockdown-affected fourth quarter of 2020 and first quarter of 2021, providing a better-than-expected platform for growth through the rest of this year. The substantial near-term fiscal support for the economy announced in the Chancellor’s Budget, the roadmap towards economic reopening, and the continued rapid roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines have also helped to improve growth prospects.

Looking ahead, growth in the region of 4-5% quarter-on-quarter is expected in 2021’s second quarter, with the economy helped by the continuation of the reopening roadmap and supportive fiscal and monetary policy.

In further positive news, the EY ITEM Club’s Spring Forecast also predicts a lower peak in the unemployment rate than initially expected. Unemployment is now forecast to reach 5.8% in the fourth quarter of 2021 – down from the 7.0% peak predicted in January – and is expected to be as low as 4.5% by the end of 2022.

Hhhhhmmm looks like Clavinova is trying to get off the topic of Johnson's lies.

I don't doubt that there are plenty of honest and hard working Conservative MP's. I just don't think Johnson is one of them.

The Tory Mp where I live may be hard working, but not in the interests of his constituents.
Notonthestairs · 29/04/2021 19:55

That may well be true jgw1 - we got rid of ours for similar reasons at the last election. Grin

But I don't like to lump them all together.
