Kendodd · 28/04/2021 07:24

My theory is that voters don't care.

OP posts:
OhWhyNot · 28/04/2021 22:06

Yes I do

But nothing new we have always known what he is about

He will get away with it the man is like Teflon nothing ever sticks

Peregrina · 28/04/2021 22:18

Tony Blair was also like Teflon, but the Iraq War stuck to him.

I imagine it will be something utterly trivial which brings Johnson down - probably an own goal of some sort.

AMillionMilesAway · 28/04/2021 22:25

(I didn't vote Con., for background)

I don't particularly care in that I am not surprised at all.

StoneofDestiny · 28/04/2021 22:29

No...why do Labour attack this small things but haven't come up with a single policy in over a year...why haven't they gone full tilt on the corrupt Liverpool Labour councillors if they are so anti sleaze?

Because Labour are not running the country.

JeanneDoe · 28/04/2021 22:33

I mean they all lie. I don’t think Boris lies any more than the rest of them. They’ve all got one goal, well two, to get into power and to stay there.
No one is really in it to “make a difference”.

Peregrina · 28/04/2021 22:33

But don't worry Userg1234 - if Labour were in power, and had done a quarter of things that Johnson has done, the Press would be screaming about it.

Frankola · 28/04/2021 22:38

I couldn't care less about how he's decorated his house now he's paid it back.

There are more important things we need to be dealing with as a country than political backstabbing and drama like this.

Although I don't like Carrie. Never have. I think she has far too much influence over his actions as PM. That might sway voters a bit. But that said, opposition is crap!

CovidCorvid · 28/04/2021 22:49

He’s only paid it back because he’s been caught out. And he’s lied and tried to cover it up.

Peregrina · 28/04/2021 22:54

Quite. He refused to answer Starmer's question about who initially had paid - the initially being the important part.

beginningoftheend · 28/04/2021 22:59

I disagree with this on three counts:
  1. I don't think they all lie. All politicians present their best case but outright lying is different
  2. Johnson appears to lie a lot more than any other politician I can remember
  3. Many politicians really are in it to make a difference
ceilingsand · 28/04/2021 23:16

Yes I care. He's hideous. But why are you polling people about it? It is a work thing?

Joeblack066 · 28/04/2021 23:28

@lllllllllll

No, I can’t see that he’s done much wrong, other than try to secure a deal with Dyson quickly to get more ventilators for the UK. It all seems like a massive storm in a teacup!
Truly?! Incredible.
HarrietPierce · 28/04/2021 23:33

"No, I can’t see that he’s done much wrong, other than try to secure a deal with Dyson quickly to get more ventilators for the UK. It all seems like a massive storm in a teacup!"

Absurd naivety !

Peregrina · 28/04/2021 23:35

Pity that Dyson didn't deliver on the ventilators then.

BadMotherLover · 28/04/2021 23:41

How much lying is too much lying?
Man lies about his mistress?
Who cares?
Man lies about his finances?
Who cares?
Man lies about his drug use?
Who cares?
Man lies about his foreign business deals?
Who cares?
Man lies about his DV?
Who cares?
Man lies about his sexual abuse?
Who cares?
Man lies about raping children?
Who cares?
I care about it all.
Do you?
Where do you draw the line?

CwidlyDoo · 28/04/2021 23:43

I also don't care.

I used to be a Labour voter, but my trust in them was seriously eroded when the expenses scandal happened. That given the chance, so many MPs in different parties had their noses in the trough.

The Labour MP for my area claimed that his mother's home was his main residence and that his family home, where his wife and children lived was his second home in order to get tax paper money to do it up. He is still the MP. I still cannot vote for him.

Also never ever forgot that Tony Blair and his government heaped lots of debt onto hospitals with his PFI initiative. Of course there is also the illegal Iraq war whose consequences still claim many, many lives today.

Then there is the fact that while in power Labour did nothing to stop the decline of council and social housing and the increase of expensive private rentals. Why, because many of them , like Tony Blair were building their own rental portfolios.

I will always vote because so many people fought for the right to do so and many others around the world do not have the opportunity. But who to vote for is becoming harder and harder to decide, because too many MPs/candidates are are just vacuous, self serving hypocrites, of all persuasions. Maybe there are genuine sincere ones, but not that many.

So, as to who paid for flat redecorations, who Boris has slept with while still married, how many children he has, that he lies, I really, really don't care.

Empressofthemundane · 28/04/2021 23:50

I don’t pay much attention to the fibber jabber that comes out of his mouth.
I don’t care if he did use crass language during a debate amongst ministers regarding lockdown.
I don’t give a shit about his wallpaper or who paid for it.

I am pleased with the vaccine strategy and rollout.
I am watching progress on the Australia trade deal.
I am alarmed regarding Northern Ireland.

I’m watching for results and not listening too closely.

Onetoomuch · 28/04/2021 23:54

@CwidlyDoo Obviously deeply hurt by what labour did at least 10 years ago but don't care about austerity, cuts to benefits, schools, nhs, police, massive use of food banks, homeless, corruption on a huge scale -heard about what robert jenrick's been up to re bungs to his posh millionaire mates ? See it's not just Boris, it's the lot of them, cabinet members. But funnily enough you're not bothered about that Hmm

Twiggywinkle13 · 28/04/2021 23:57

If you don’t care about the Prime Minister being corrupt and having zero morals your own moral compass needs looking at. It’s disgusting. Not to mention Hancock and the contracts to pals etc.

Nat6999 · 29/04/2021 00:02

I care about him lying. On today's PMQ's when Keir Starmer was pushing & pushing with his questions Boris looked just like a child who had been caught stealing sweets, he was protesting his innocence so much & then deflecting by bringing up other things, I'm surprised he didn't flounce off. It's been reported that his & Carrie's personal phones are going to be searched as part of the enquiry, I bet they are both furiously deleting contacts & messages. In a way Dominic Cummings being sacked last year was good because it led to this massive fall out & him doing the tell all that could bring Boris's world crashing down around him.

WillWorkForShoes · 29/04/2021 00:06

I voted before seeing the ‘rules’. You are not being unreasonable to think voters don’t care. But I do care. How is he still PM? Why is no one holding him to account? No press? No government opposition?

paralysedbyinertia · 29/04/2021 00:09

Yes, I thought he looked quite rattled at PMQs. It was uncomfortable viewing.

He didn't answer Keir Starmer's question about who initially paid for the refurb, so clearly he has something to hide. He'd be better off just telling the truth and brazening it out imo. Dodging the question merely confirms that even no-morals Boris actually recognises that he did something wrong.

If they're going to look at personal phones as part of the investigation, I don't understand why they would get warning of that. Surely, they will just delete everything incriminating.Confused

TheGoogleMum · 29/04/2021 00:10

I care but I didnt/wouldn't ever vote for him anyway

Nat6999 · 29/04/2021 00:30

If the bodies piling up thing is true, I wish they had left Boris on the pavement instead of taking him to hospital. I still have my doubts that he was as ill as they reported.

Ariannah · 29/04/2021 00:42

The question is, what’s the alternative? Labour believes that natal women don’t exist and I’d prefer to vote for Boris’s lies than for Labour’s insanity.
