Doyou care about Boris Johnson's constant lying?

Kendodd · 28/04/2021 07:24

My theory is that voters don't care.

OP posts:
Darker · 28/04/2021 15:30

No10 has just confirmed Boris Johnson will himself decide whether he broke any rules relating to the refurb of his flat. Hmm

BettysCardigan · 28/04/2021 15:31

Well I'm sure the man who illegally prorogued parliament and had to be visited by police due to a domestic incident in his flat will do the decent thing.

Kendodd · 28/04/2021 15:39

As for the 'all politicians lie' (not true bt*w) well kick them all out and demand better. Join a political party and use your vote to vote down liars, demand integrity. It's not ok that we now have local Tory parties doing training on how to lie to the voters, this is what we get when voters don't care about this stuff.

OP posts:
Bubblebu · 28/04/2021 15:43

"Any other job and they'd be out"

nope.
plenty of jobs involve breathtaking corruption and deception.
see The Post Office for just one of many many many examples.

it all flows down from the top. why the hell should there be any kind of integrity in public office (or elsewhere) when you have a government / leadership like we do

toconclude · 28/04/2021 15:44

@lllllllllll

No, I can’t see that he’s done much wrong, other than try to secure a deal with Dyson quickly to get more ventilators for the UK. It all seems like a massive storm in a teacup!
Hmm

Did I miss something? What's that about?

the entire time he was fixing tax deals for James Dyson in return for no ventilators whatsoever not quite. Dyson was concerned that any of his workers coming here to work on the machines would be taxed out of a living wage. A tax break is not unusual for overseas workers. And the machines weren't necessary in the long run, antiobiotics did the trick, or need was far lower than forst though, apparently. And Dyson didn't take any money, despite having spent on develoment

www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/24/dyson-will-not-supply-ventilators-to-nhs-to-treat-covid-19

That article is over a year old... we have ALWAYS known Dyson took no money!

QwertyGirly · 28/04/2021 15:48

'All politician lie'. That's not true. We vote the liars in. Because we believe their lies.

QwertyGirly · 28/04/2021 15:50

Dyson just had to stay in the UK in the first place. NObody forced him to move his headquarters (after Brexit, and in order to avoid tax. TO AVOID PAYING TAX, just in case that's not quite clear enough).

Andante57 · 28/04/2021 15:53

It would be excellent if he was having an Al Capone moment over his flat decoration

What’s an Al Capone moment?.

QwertyGirly · 28/04/2021 15:56

Al Capone was found guilty of tax evasion and went to jail. He was never found guilty of murder, although he is said to have killed (directly or indirectly) over 400 people. Johnson may have committed fraud, lied to parliement, to the Queen, given contracts to his party donors, and might be forced to resign because of how the decoration of the flat was handled.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/04/2021 15:56

TO AVOID PAYING TAX, just in case that's not quite clear enough To ensure his company remained viable?

www.businessleader.co.uk/why-did-sir-james-dyson-really-move-his-hq-to-singapore/63498/

It's not like he did anything illegal!

DynamoKev · 28/04/2021 15:58

@Bearnecessity

Dynamo....your reply to my post speaks volumes...it says nothing...

jgw...Track and Trace couldn't have been any worse, it was a money consuming unholy cock up.....I don't believe it would have been any better under Labour.

On the contrary, I pointed out what an utter pile of tosh the claims made were. For some reason you came onto a thread about Boris Johnson's numerous lies and posted irrelevant and unknowable claims about a totally different party that Johnson doesn't represent.

If if any of your ridiculous post about Labour was true it would still be irrelevant and has zero bearing on the fact of how much Johnson lies and people like you seem happy support his lies, greed and incompetence.

QwertyGirly · 28/04/2021 15:59

There are many aspects of Tax evasion that is legal. Is it moral though?

And DYson has staff already in the UK. Why did he need a tax break again?

StoneofDestiny · 28/04/2021 16:00

Johnson was a proven liar in his professional and personal life when he was elected - so no surprise he is a self serving liar as Prime Minister.
Of course I care, no right minded thinking person would not care.
A person who represents our country abroad and runs the government should be a person of integrity - he is not and never has been.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/04/2021 16:02

I think you are just being determined to be annoyed!

Moving your business to make it more profitabel, increase it's longevity isn't tax evasion.

And the staff in question, the ones who had worked on the machines, would have been coming from Singapore!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/04/2021 16:03

A person who represents our country abroad and runs the government should be a person of integrity - he is not and never has been. When was the last PM we had that had integrity?

I am just looking and it is interesting/shocking - or maybe not!

4cats2kids · 28/04/2021 16:05

@Kendodd where did you get the information that they are training people to lie please? I haven’t heard that, can you link?

Andante57 · 28/04/2021 16:06

Qwerty thank you for answering my question.
So are you suggesting Boris has murdered people?

alibongo5 · 28/04/2021 16:08
@Brefugee The whole 'all politicians lie' argument makes me want to smash my head on a wall until I lose consciousness.
I totally agree. You may or may not like Jeremy Corbyn but I don't think anyone could say he lied. About anything. And others are the same. I detested Maggie Thatcher but did she lie? Not sure, but nothing like Johnson.

BiggerBoat1 · 28/04/2021 16:08

I care very much. I hope there is a full enquiry. I really don't understand how people can claim not to care!

Peregrina · 28/04/2021 16:09

I would say that both Brown and May tried to behave with integrity.

adrianmolesmole · 28/04/2021 16:10

I care. I also care about his racist comments which he seems to always get away with. Jeremy Corbyn's career was destroyed yet no one seems to call out the sh*tty tories on their racism. They are teflon, with the media in their pockets and stupid voters believing every word despite so much evidence of lying and corruption. How do they do it? I guess by lying and corruption and having the media in their pockets!

I also hate labour at the moment because they seem utterly UTTERLY USELESS. Where are they and what the fuck are they doing?! There is so much they could be saying but don't. Thanks to them I don't know who to vote for any more.

QwertyGirly · 28/04/2021 16:11

No need to get personal there, @CuriousaboutSamphire . Or is that really your only ammunition.

jgw1 · 28/04/2021 16:11

@QwertyGirly

I guess he had to leave as he was such a keen supporter of the EU?
BettysCardigan · 28/04/2021 16:16

I don't think it would be far off the mark to say he wilfully let people die, so not murder but something akin to corporate manslaughter perhaps.
