If so what it is and how much do you make pcm?

I have seen LOADS on my sm recently and I’m so curious about them.

I'm a Twitch streamer, I make more on there than I do at work (part time). It's handy and fits around the kids.

VikingsandDragons · 24/04/2021 22:37

Forgot one, I also have a facebook page where I do deal finding using affiliate links, so get a few pennies to a few pound every time someone clicks and buys something. That's taken 5 years to very very slowly build up to making more than £1 a day though!

Frokkolini · 24/04/2021 22:38

Besides the accusations of tax evasion this is an interesting thread.

I have spare savings and would desperately love to earn some extra cash and start a home business. I have no idea where to start if I focus on my passions as a guide. They are saturated markets.

Am watching this thread with interest.

doadeer · 24/04/2021 22:39

Yes I have an etsy store outside my main job, it's a hobby job :)

serin · 24/04/2021 22:45

I should be good at this, I grow plants, knit baby hats, make vast quantities of jam and chutney every year.....but I just give it all away. I have no business skills at all Blush

@SofiaMichelle

No one I know who does these sorts of 'on the side' jobs declares their earnings for tax purposes.

I assume it's the same with people on here (I'm sure they'll all say not, of course) and the irony in that is how left-wing MN is with regard to entitlement to state support and the disdain for businesses perceived to not pay enough tax.

Shows how dishonest YOU are.

@Susannahmoody

*makes mental note to say side hustle as often as possible, in any context, on MN
Same. Policing people’s language is so sanctimonious. And I say that as some one who’s side hustle is copywriting and proofing. It’s actually my only hustle as I need to work around my kids schedules as my DH works overseas a lot, but hoping to build it up more over the next few years.
pineapplejuice22 · 24/04/2021 22:50

@TakemedowntoPotatoCity

I teach English to Chinese students, although it's actually my main hustle! I only make about 500 pcm though.
This is interesting! How did you get into it? Are you a teacher? I'm primary trained but have always been interested in teaching adults.

@Redskyyy

Yes I run a gift box business in my spare time!
I love this idea! Like the ' don't send her flowers' company?

Matched betting for me, easy money and no tax to pay.

My main job is term time only. I run a holiday club for 4-11 year olds in school holidays. I can earn good £ from this if I get a lot of kids through the door.

parsnipsnotsprouts · 24/04/2021 23:03

Dating coach. Charge £75 per hour. I used to advertise but now just word of mouth. Most clients are in the USA.

Souther · 24/04/2021 23:04

Ove got a rental property.
I already used to invest in ETF.
But have started trading in stocks and shares. And dabbling in cryptocurrency.

How did you get into that? Fascinating.
CthulhuInDisguise · 24/04/2021 23:08

I have a full time job, but have two "second jobs" working at weekends, and also have an Etsy shop. I don't do it for the money, more for something to do and to prevent loneliness. I earn about £200 per month from the second jobs combined, and in the last 6 months have made £2k from Etsy.

Zalto · 24/04/2021 23:10

I have an accidental side hustle.

Because of a particular interest I have, I have a lot of Instagram followers. On the back of this, I’ve created a brand with a website, and a newsletter. Clicks on the website generate some income, and the mail-out is often sponsored by relevant companies.

I don’t accept free stuff, or do all that #gifted shit on Instagram, though, despite getting daily requests.

What is match betting?

clairethewitch70 · 24/04/2021 23:14

I have written a Diploma Course for a well known online provider and have proposals in for three more.

TattyDevine · 24/04/2021 23:14

I like the term side hustle. It's cheeky and modern and fun. And self explanatory.

ShanghaiDiva · 24/04/2021 23:19

Matched betting is where you bet on a event through a bookmaker eg liverpool to win and then lay the bet with an exchange( eg betfair )ie Liverpool not to win. This is a trigger bet and if you select odds which are close together you will lose a few pence. Where you make money is on bookmaker offers such as bet £10 get a £10 free bet. You lose on the trigger but then take the free bet to make a guaranteed profit.
If you google team profit it is all clearly explained with videos which guide you through the process.
All winnings are tax free.
There are various types of offers eg bet x get y, refunds, price boosts etc.

Have a proper read through (x10!) of the Team Profit website. It’s free and explains it all. Well worth giving it a go.
Notaschoolday · 24/04/2021 23:27

@LuluJakey1

What is match betting?
You exploit the offers and bonuses offered by bookmakers to extract a percentage as profit. You basically bid on each outcome of an event with close enough odds that each time costs very little so you make a profit whatever the outcome. There’s also ways to profit from casino games as well, these are mostly finding the ways to tip the chances well in your favour and use free credit and spins to your advantage.

Have a look at Oddsmonkey or Profit Accumulator.

YouokHun · 24/04/2021 23:32

@Slipperfairy

'Side hustle' makes you sound daring and driven, rather than selling magic coffee or knock off perfume and recruiting an army of huns.
Though “side hustle” to me is absolutely the identifier for an army of huns with bedrooms full of unsold Shit-yourself-Thin caffeine coffee or Aloe Vera. And “side hustle” is exactly what the pyramid schemes like to position themselves as. Like they’re a harmless cash generator rather than a cash leaching scam perpetrated on the unaware (who probably think they’re entrepreneurs). I think the term “side hustle” is forever tainted!
Notaschoolday · 24/04/2021 23:32

BET on each outcome!
