I work for a complete narcissist..

I'm leaving my job in a few weeks.. Currently working my notice..moving onto a new role elsewhere.
My CEO is a complete narcissist.. Today she has pushed me to the absolute limit and I've broken.. She then tells me she doesn't need me crying and putting that on her as well as everything else.
I'm on a part time contract and I'm working full time hours. I'm a single parent but never ever let my personal circumstances get in the way of work. I think I'm a hard working and professional EA. I've got 15 years of experience in the industry.
I've resigned primarily because of her.. I actually feel bullied by her. Nobody seems to tell her she behaves inappropriately or speaks awfully to colleagues.. We have no proper HR department in our company..
I hate every day I have to work here. They've kept me to my 4 weeks notice and asked me to work an extra couple of days to help because its a ridiculously busy time. I agreed because I'm a good person but now feel like telling them to stuff it. I hate it. I hate my job and I hate her. I don't respect a CEO that is a bully.
No point to this thread just wanted to vent because I've been in tears all morning.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all ok.
I love my new work place so much, all my new colleagues have been so welcoming and lovely and the Executive I am EA to is just unbelievably lovely. I was told earlier that it was the hardest EA role to recruit for and they did 4 rounds of interviews for it and I was hand picked by the Exec. So feeling really good :) getting stuck in straight away. Have a snazzy new laptop, an i pad and a work phone and was told on my first day after I've passed my probation I can do 3 days in the office and 2 at home :) really think I'm going to love it.
Spoke to my friend from my previous employer, she's saying pound shop chief executive is having a nightmare filling my role and there's only been 3 applications 😂😂😂

Fabulous @Pebbledashery. Onward and upward leaving pound shop CEO floudering in her own incompetence.

Immunetypegoblin · 20/05/2021 21:32

You mean you haven't gone running back?!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/05/2021 21:40

I bet your batshit crazy boss is running round in ever decreasing circles without you, @Pebbledashery!

I’m so glad the new job is going well.

twoshedsjackson · 21/05/2021 09:04

I love a happy ending! Congratulations on making a great start on your new job!
My guess is that your former boss is heading for "long term sick leave".

LookItsMeAgain · 21/05/2021 09:11

My thoughts and prayers go out to the three poor saps who applied for the role. It's such a shame that we don't know who they are to advise them of what they could be letting themselves in for.

I loved reading your update @Pebbledashery. Good for you!

NoSquirrels · 21/05/2021 10:25

It's a real life fairy story, isn't it? I'm so glad that you're happy OP, and your new boss must be so pleased that they've got such a lovely and hard working member of staff. Karma strikes again!

Thelnebriati · 22/05/2021 13:12

I bet they have to take on 2 people to do your old job 💐

Pebbledashery · 22/05/2021 13:24

I had a lovely day yesterday. My executive was on leave but was texting me asking me to do some things etc.. He sent me the most loveliest text saying he's really excited to work with me and we've just hit the ground running straight away and he feels really lucky I'm his EA :) was so touched.
It was the best decision I ever made after leaving my ex.. Since cutting out the abusive people in my life I've gone on to get a house, buy a new car and get a new job and most importantly my DD feels happy and safe :)
Thank you for all the support and love on this thread ♥️♥️♥️♥️

So pleased to read your updates.

twoshedsjackson · 22/05/2021 15:27

I know you weren't looking for revenge, just a way out of a sticky situation, but how true that "The best revenge is living well".
Well done on breaking free: leaving the ex, and getting your new job before you came on to Mumsnet.
And well done on showing your daughter, in a calm and dignified way, that her Mum takes no c; she will learn that lesson well!

JanuaryJonez · 22/05/2021 17:28

Oh wow OP - this is amazing!! I haven't thread the whole thread but have looked at all your own replies.

You should watch the film Working Girl - such a classic from the late 80s and really made me think of your situation (although the boss is way nicer than your last one)!

I'm so happy for you Smile

Theluggagerules · 22/05/2021 23:05

So glad it's working.out for you

CarbsAreNotMyFriend · 25/05/2021 19:22

I am so delighted for you OP fab update ❤️ x

Pebbledashery · 26/05/2021 19:03

Hi all. Just thought I'd share a little update. Worked from home today as I had my first covid jab. Been a bit flat out today and overwhelmed as I had been in teams calls all morning. Its seems as if my Exec wants to really develop the EA role and make it into a Business Manager role.. I felt a bit overwhelmed and wondered if I'd ever be good enough to actually understand the subject matter I'm dealing with. I'm currently in meetings where I have no clue what anyone is talking about and the medical terminology is way over my head 🤣. But that being said its essentially week 2, and he's at a conference tomorrow and Friday and signed off by saying how glad he is I came to be his EA and in a short space of time I've turned several things around and he's super, super impressed.

So feeling a bit better about it all :)
