I work for a complete narcissist..

I'm leaving my job in a few weeks.. Currently working my notice..moving onto a new role elsewhere.
My CEO is a complete narcissist.. Today she has pushed me to the absolute limit and I've broken.. She then tells me she doesn't need me crying and putting that on her as well as everything else.
I'm on a part time contract and I'm working full time hours. I'm a single parent but never ever let my personal circumstances get in the way of work. I think I'm a hard working and professional EA. I've got 15 years of experience in the industry.
I've resigned primarily because of her.. I actually feel bullied by her. Nobody seems to tell her she behaves inappropriately or speaks awfully to colleagues.. We have no proper HR department in our company..
I hate every day I have to work here. They've kept me to my 4 weeks notice and asked me to work an extra couple of days to help because its a ridiculously busy time. I agreed because I'm a good person but now feel like telling them to stuff it. I hate it. I hate my job and I hate her. I don't respect a CEO that is a bully.
No point to this thread just wanted to vent because I've been in tears all morning.

@mnhq here too, please.

ArnoJambonsBike · 11/05/2021 18:04

@cupoftea2021

All that matters is your mental well being not how it looks or how many sick days You can simply say it was highly stressful or something along those lines. The word Stress is self explanatory. Escape It is a job not a lifestyle- Grasp hold of something to help pull you through and think about how to offload the crap your leaving. Can you get a written reference before you leave. Give me a male boss any day.
@mnhq sorry, quote fail. I meant here.

Freedom!!!!

(Loved the ‘to confirm’ emails to HR, what a star you are!)

I wish you a long lie-in (or at least a return to bed after the school run), a day watching rubbish on the TV and having a long bath, and many treat foods. You should spoil yourself, because you deserve it.

Loubiemoo · 11/05/2021 18:17

Well done for sticking it out OP. Good luck in your new role!

SpringCrocus · 11/05/2021 18:45

Theluggagerules · 11/05/2021 19:16

Congratulations you made it!! Bagshot boss is no longer your problem. Enjoy the next few days and hope the new job is amazing

Tambora · 11/05/2021 19:18

I've been quietly following your thread and I am so pleased that you are finally out of there. Flowers Wine

Handy hint for you - find an empty cardboard box, draw an ugly face on it, put it on the floor and jump up and down on it as many times as you like until the thing is destroyed. Shouting expletives helps too, but you need to do it when there's nobody else in the house! It's quite cathartic and yes I have done it myself. Grin

Pebbledashery · 11/05/2021 19:22

Thank you everyone ☺️.. I feel soooooooooooooooooo relieved I don't have to hear her old bag voice first thing in the morning tomorrow 😂😂.. I had an exit conversation with the HR colleague this morning too and expressed some concerns in a diplomatic way about the resilience of the next person. But I guess it's not my problem anymore, just would hate for anyone to have felt like I have, I only got through it because I have a fantastic new job to go to.

I had the mic drop comment in my head from pp when I logged off at 4.29pm today.. That was literally my mic drop.

Immunetypegoblin · 11/05/2021 20:06

Does she know where you live OP? I wouldn't put it past her to turn up this week if you have blocked her every other way...

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 11/05/2021 20:10
Flowers I am very happy you made it through.
Embroideredstars · 11/05/2021 20:51

Well done, Op.

A couple of my friends are PAs/EAs and this seems to be fairly common. Both are bloody brilliant at their jobs but have had to put up with a lot of shit over the years.

petridishmystery · 11/05/2021 21:23

Only discovered this thread last night but well done @Pebbledashery! You’ve done so well.
I’m a PA, my boss can be slightly brusque and tends to give half an instruction and leave the rest in her head but she’s generally a really good, caring boss, this thread is making me realise how lucky I am! Enjoy the break before your next job starts and I really hope you enjoy it a lot more!

Pebbledashery · 11/05/2021 21:42

I just hope she knows I didn't let the bully win. It would've been so easy just to go off sick that day I made this thread. I remember sitting at my dining room table in tears just sobbing as she was so completely vile to me.. But I knew that's what she wanted to insinuate I was so weak and pathetic that I couldn't work my notice.. She didn't defeat me, and I'm really proud of that.. As hideous as its been, you're all so fantastically right that I can hold my head up high and leave with my dignity in tact. Thank you so much everyone for the support ❤️

CrikeyPeg · 11/05/2021 21:49

Well done @Pebbledashery. I only found this thread on Sunday, my eyebrows were halfway down the back of my head by the time I'd finish reading it - that's one crazy mean boss!! Enjoy your few days off and all the best with the new job Smile

overnightangel · 11/05/2021 22:07

Well that was quite an experience reading the full thread from start to finish in just a few minutes 😂
So glad it all worked out well in the end, good luck with the new job!
