Fantasising about a fictional character!!

454 replies

HensTeeth44 · 16/04/2021 10:24

I need your help and to know if I am a complete lunatic and BVU or if this is something that happens to other people.

I have always had a very overactive imagination and have a tendancy to daydream but this is the first time (in adulthood anyway) that I have developed a full on obsession with a fictional character. Not the actor who plays this character, but the character himself! Last night I found myself googling this character and falling into the rabbit hole of the Internet and finding reams of erotic fan fiction. I am ashamed to say I found myself still awake at 2am after reading through tons these short stories Blush call me niave but I had no idea this stuff existed before! I feel such a dork!

Am I abnormal? What does this say about this verging on middle-aged married mother? My marriage and sex life are good, I love my husband and find him very attractive, I don't feel depressed or lonely. What is going on?! Grin

*who they were

Snape wasn’t a lovely human being in disguise! He was a fully fledged death eater until Lily was killed, he was happy to betray the family to Voldemort until he realised whintheybwere. His grief and guilt then makes him switch sides. He’s still a weasel that believes what death eaters do. Anyone who isn’t a psychopath would switch sides if it was their loved one hurt or in danger, like Narcissa did too. Not enough to make Snape an attractive guy in my book.

Anyway... I’m derailing the thread here! YABU for fancying Snape OP Grin but YANBU to go for fictional characters, I have a thing for most of the CSI cast!

And this is why I like fan fics. He’s redeemed from this belief that he was a weasel.

You'd never heard of Snape? That must be unusual.

@steff13

Jamie from Outlander here. Also Ranger from the Stephanie Plum book series.
I don't anyone else who reads the Stephanie Plum books but I am with you on Ranger!! Smile

Also for me, Tony Almeida from 24 back in the day and currently Damien Lewis as Brody in Homeland.

SimonJT · 17/04/2021 15:35

I don’t know a great deal about Snape, I read the first book but didn’t like it so didn’t bother with the rest, I didn’t make it through the first film as the acting was so poor from the children.

I am however having a full blown affair with the Mandalorian.

I hear you, but I just can't help myself. Part of the characters appeal to me is his rotten-ness, his anger, the fact that he's not a nice guy. What is that all about?!!

In fact, all the people/characters I like tend to be 'bad guys' who would literally ruin your life!!
Ironically, my husband is the nicest guy you could ever meet.

Totally normal! I used to read and write Harry Potter Fanfiction in my late teens back on ff.net! Read and wrote them about Lucius Malfoy mostly. Occasionally Sirius Black. Now I'm on another app, it's got a sub section for Harry Potter, and we [me and the other members] interactively roleplay with each other all things Harry Potter. It's my hobby. My DH thinks I'm a weirdo. Basically, it's like the Wizarding World in current times. There's a Minister of Magic, Hogwarts Headmaster, Daily Prophet Editor Etc. We create our own characters that interact with each other within the Wizarding World. So, grabbing a drink at The Leaky Cauldron or visiting Gringotts, playing Quidditch. Working at the Ministry and for the Daily Prophet. I've made life long friends on there from all over the world.

@Icecreamsoda99 Sandor Clegane, oh yes.
And book Jaime Lannister is a beautiful human being after his fabulous road trip with Brienne.
I was watching Poldark today and realised that I've never considered Poldark fandom so I'm about to head down another rabbit hole.

iklboo · 17/04/2021 18:01

I would ride Bucky - Decommissioned Winter Soldier - like Seabiscuit.

girlofnow · 17/04/2021 19:13

Is it a Christian Gray?

Btw I'm marking place here on the darkling - tv adaptation starts next week on Netflix and he's played by Ben Barnes. I think this will be the highlight of my year.

Yeah. He's amazing in the falcon and the winter soldier.
girlofnow · 17/04/2021 19:15

@Mypathtriedtokillme

It’s The Nightingale from Rivers of London that does it for me.
Ooooh!
Zancah · 17/04/2021 19:28

Does anyone get slightly possessive over people they've liked the longest?

Like, I've loved Sebastian Stan forever.^ Like, forever and ever. Yearssssss. And suddenly he seems to be flavour of the month thanks to Bucky. And I'm over here thinking, Get tae fuck, I saw him firsttttt!!!^ Grin

MrsGulDukat · 17/04/2021 19:32

There's a lot of talk about Snape but where's the Lucius Malfoy love. He's clearly sexier than Snape.

I also have a thing for Amycus Carrow. Maybe just Ralph Ineson in general. I love his gruff Yorkshire accent.

Dutchesss · 17/04/2021 19:36

John Snow, Richard Sharpe, Jamie Frazer, Klaus Michaelson, Jace Herondale, Micheal Scofield.

For me it's always the character, never the actor.

Holothane · 17/04/2021 19:40

@HensTeeth40 m with you on that one all my character fantasies are villains I’m often chased around the Death Star by Darth Vader. At the moment I can’t say name of films on here I’d be lynched but the actor who plays the villain well me puddle 0n the floor.

Yes! And he mercilessly bullied and humiliated an 11 year old because he happened to look like the husband of the woman he was infatuated with.

Yeah I was a bit like that with Henry Cavill after watching the Tudors years and years ago.

But I don't think I like him anymore now!

Holothane · 17/04/2021 20:01

No I’m lucky when I’m crushIng over whoever they are mine,

iklboo · 17/04/2021 20:31

@Mypathtriedtokillme - The Nightingale is rather dashing.

@Zancah - me too! Since Captain America. We can share if you like? Three days each & he can have one day off to recuperate.
