Fantasising about a fictional character!!

HensTeeth44 · 16/04/2021 10:24

I need your help and to know if I am a complete lunatic and BVU or if this is something that happens to other people.

I have always had a very overactive imagination and have a tendancy to daydream but this is the first time (in adulthood anyway) that I have developed a full on obsession with a fictional character. Not the actor who plays this character, but the character himself! Last night I found myself googling this character and falling into the rabbit hole of the Internet and finding reams of erotic fan fiction. I am ashamed to say I found myself still awake at 2am after reading through tons these short stories Blush call me niave but I had no idea this stuff existed before! I feel such a dork!

Am I abnormal? What does this say about this verging on middle-aged married mother? My marriage and sex life are good, I love my husband and find him very attractive, I don't feel depressed or lonely. What is going on?! Grin

Have you read Green Girl, basically the all the Hogwarts years but Hermione is in Slytherin?

No but I will after I’ve finished Iso again. Grin

There was a funny funny Supernatural episode once where Sam and Dean discover a lot of incestuous homoerotic fanfic about themselves.

I imagine there actually is a lot of incestuous homoerotic Sam and Dean fanfic. I’ve never looked of course.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 17/04/2021 09:47

Definitely book Ross Poldark is hotter than TV Ross Poldark in character (but TV RP is prettier than I imagine book RP to be).

The Phantom of the Opera - i am hopelessly in love with Erik. I'd follow him anywhere.

Rainbunny · 17/04/2021 10:07

After running out of stuff to watch during lockdown I finally started watching Outlander and now I have a thing for Dougal's character (and the actor who plays him).

I still don't care for the show very much tbh but it has given me some very pleasant daydraming material Grin

Thank god for anonymous forums saving me from ever blurting this out in RL!

IT'S HUGE for some reason. I've never even watched the show but Supernatural is a colossal fandom and mostly centred around Sam/Dean.
MichelleScarn · 17/04/2021 10:32

@Cosyclothes absolutely it is, it was that or Prison Mike Grin I do love an inside joke, and always hope to be part of one some day.

It's called "Wincest".

Dylan from casualty got me through lockdown 😆

Im loving this thread

Pyewackect · 17/04/2021 11:13

Definitely Ross Poldark but I imagined him to be slightly cruel. Remember he killed a man in a duel, was a veteran of the American Wars and he raped Elizabeth. I also imaged the scar on his face to be quite pronounced which gave him an air of menace. A good looking man but hardened to the realities of his world. As much a warrior as a mine owner or “old money “ gentry. Well endowed and built like an athlete.

hattymattie · 17/04/2021 11:18

Faramir (book) so underrated. V disappointed in film casting.

Mrsfrumble · 17/04/2021 11:31

I also never watched a single episode of Supernatural and know literally nothing else about it except that “Wincest” is “a thing”! What a legacy Grin

iklboo · 17/04/2021 11:32

@MangoSeason - let's not forget the Dean / Castiel fan fic as well.

Creamcustards · 17/04/2021 11:33

I don’t get the Snape thing? Confused
Wasn’t he sallow, greasy-haired, bitter and twisted?
Somebody explain the appeal?!

Mittens030869 · 17/04/2021 11:47

It’s not so much the character they’re fantasising about, I suspect, but Alan Rickman playing him. Grin

Mittens030869 · 17/04/2021 11:47

It’s certainly true of me. 🤣🤣

CounsellorTroi · 17/04/2021 11:51

Fox Mulder was pretty, but I fancied the pants off Assistant FBI Director Skinner!

lazylinguist · 17/04/2021 11:53

Me neither. He was vile and cruel to generations of school kids, especially Harry, his excuse for this apparently being that the girl he'd always fancied didn't fancy him back (maybe because he was horrible and into the dark arts) and married someone he hated.

Merryoldgoat · 17/04/2021 12:02

What @lazylinguist said with bells on.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/04/2021 12:04

He was cruel because he was a spy. He needed everyone to believe he was one of Voldemort’s most loyal Death Eaters. He couldn’t manage that whilst gently encouraging them with their potion studies.

That’s why I love Snape fan fics. He gets redemption and a chance to prove he wasn’t a monster really.

Holothane · 17/04/2021 12:19

Fictional character Hans Gruber in Die Hard, started my thing with film villains still the sexiest, in the business

Holothane · 17/04/2021 12:21

Outlander I’m afraid I like the bad guy I can’t remember his name. The guy playing him also plays Claire’s husband in the modern era.

Holothane · 17/04/2021 12:25

The Master From Dr who not missy there’s about three from the tv series I wouldn’t mind being under them.

drudgewithagrudge · 17/04/2021 12:28

I love Call the midwife and dream of a threesome with the gorgeous vicar and Dr Turner.

bunglebee · 17/04/2021 12:33

I'm not into Snape (or the HP fandom in general, particularly) but I do think there's a interesting dynamic that Snape basically spent 30-odd years in deep cover as an arsehole. Severus was the Roman emperor who went among his people in disguise (JK was not subtle with her naming...): the point of him is very much that he has a virtue that goes almost totally unseen because of the necessity of having someone so close to Voldemort who can hardly be a nice person.

Creamcustards · 17/04/2021 12:45

Snape wasn’t a lovely human being in disguise! He was a fully fledged death eater until Lily was killed, he was happy to betray the family to Voldemort until he realised whintheybwere. His grief and guilt then makes him switch sides. He’s still a weasel that believes what death eaters do. Anyone who isn’t a psychopath would switch sides if it was their loved one hurt or in danger, like Narcissa did too. Not enough to make Snape an attractive guy in my book.

Anyway... I’m derailing the thread here! YABU for fancying Snape OP Grin but YANBU to go for fictional characters, I have a thing for most of the CSI cast!
