Fantasising about a fictional character!!

I need your help and to know if I am a complete lunatic and BVU or if this is something that happens to other people.

I have always had a very overactive imagination and have a tendancy to daydream but this is the first time (in adulthood anyway) that I have developed a full on obsession with a fictional character. Not the actor who plays this character, but the character himself! Last night I found myself googling this character and falling into the rabbit hole of the Internet and finding reams of erotic fan fiction. I am ashamed to say I found myself still awake at 2am after reading through tons these short stories Blush call me niave but I had no idea this stuff existed before! I feel such a dork!

Am I abnormal? What does this say about this verging on middle-aged married mother? My marriage and sex life are good, I love my husband and find him very attractive, I don't feel depressed or lonely. What is going on?! Grin

There's a lot of talk about Snape but where's the Lucius Malfoy love. He's clearly sexier than Snape.

I also have a thing for Amycus Carrow. Maybe just Ralph Ineson in general. I love his gruff Yorkshire accent.

I see the whole Lucius, but I just don't ever fancy blonde men. I can't think of one. They've got to be dark, preferably thin and pale! Wink

I dont normally go for blonde men either. Dark hair is usually my preferred choice.

Like, I've loved Sebastian Stan forever.^ Like, forever and ever. Yearssssss. And suddenly he seems to be flavour of the month thanks to Bucky. And I'm over here thinking, Get tae fuck, I saw him firsttttt!!!^ Grin

Yes, me! Had this with Cillian Murphy. Barely anyone knew who he was and wouldn't have given him a sideways glance looks wise until he started playing Tommy Shelby and now everyone raves about him. Grrrr! I've liked him since he was in 28 Days Later which was like 11 years before Peaky Blinders! I saw him first! 🤣 [Light Hearted, kinda!]

Lucius has always been my favourite! We definitely need more Lucius love.

Dr Enys is very good looking, though surprisingly hairy. I like George. He only wants to be loved, by a good woman. Like me Grin
I finished the book series last year and amused that Ross and George continued to antagonise each other into old age.

Sirius Black's daughter was forced by the Ministry to marry Lucius because she was a pureblood.

Never even finished the first chapter.

Same! I first saw Sebastian in Gossip Girl and had a mad crush and now everyone is onto it! However I find that actually puts me off him a bit. It's like we're not exclusive anymore lol

Same thing with Orlando Bloom. I was obsessed with him months before LOTR came out and carried a rubbish print off picture of him as Legolas in my school bag when I was in Year 7... everyone teased me for crushing on a guy called Orlando Bloom but then a few months later after Fellowship of the Ring came out, there wasn't a girl who wasn't in love with him. I was most indignant.

When I dabble in a bit of HP fan fiction then it is Lucius always Lucius Grin

I discovered fanfic thanks to Ashes to Ashes years ago, became totally obsessed! Currently I love Jamie Fraser, definitely the character not the actor. I haven't long discovered Outlander, didn't know what I was missing!!
I'd never admit any of this in real life though.

Is there a Fanfic Readers and Writers thread on here? It is a bit of a secret life for me. I'm in the middle of a novella-length Queen's Gambit fic at the moment. I sometimes think my fic loses out in popularity because I'm too old and cynical to ever write uncomplicated happy endings BlushGrin

I'd definitely do Archive Of Our Own over fanfiction.net. The interface and search is better and IMO more good authors prefer it. I archive my work at both but I much prefer AO3. There are also some big Potterspecific archives, maybe even Snape-specific. It sort of depends if you want to read him paired with someone specific or not. Can't give specific author/fic recs as it's not one of my fandoms and especially in HP there are a kajillion but if you just Google "best Snape fanfics" or "Snape fanfic recommendations" you'll no doubt find lists other people have compiled.
