Fantasising about a fictional character!!

I need your help and to know if I am a complete lunatic and BVU or if this is something that happens to other people.

I have always had a very overactive imagination and have a tendancy to daydream but this is the first time (in adulthood anyway) that I have developed a full on obsession with a fictional character. Not the actor who plays this character, but the character himself! Last night I found myself googling this character and falling into the rabbit hole of the Internet and finding reams of erotic fan fiction. I am ashamed to say I found myself still awake at 2am after reading through tons these short stories call me niave but I had no idea this stuff existed before! I feel such a dork!

Am I abnormal? What does this say about this verging on middle-aged married mother? My marriage and sex life are good, I love my husband and find him very attractive, I don't feel depressed or lonely. What is going on?!

YANBU for fancying a fictional character. YABU about Severus Snape. Don’t get me wrong - he's well-written and Rickman plays him brilliantly, but the character is an arsehole!

Oh good god I’m utterly besotted with Eric Roberts at the moment editing my fanfic and having plenty of nice daydreams, I’m 54 believe I’d go nuts if I didn’t have my crushes.

I can understand film Snape because Alan Rickman is so brilliant - but I'd take a hard pass on book Snape.

Definitely not weird to love fictional characters that little bit too much though. I once rewrote every episode of Angel the Series so that Doyle survived right the way through - because I love him more than all real men. It took three years. Totally worth it.

I used to daydream such a lot, but I think it’s a dying art with all these devices pumping other peoples’ daydreams straight into one’s head.

Then whilst pregnant it was all about Ragnar Lothbrok, and Bjorn Ironside from Vikings.

@MichelleScarn I haven’t read Green Girl! Will have to look it up! I must admit I always thought Hermione was in the wrong house, she was such a Ravenclaw. Bex Chan is the author of Isolation, the one I read anyway. It has over 33K favourites on fan fiction!
