How many times do you wear a bra before washing?

AIBU - to wear once only? It’s costing me a fortune in underwear as they wear out/ grey quickly

Oh god, up to a fortnight if I'm being honest. I'm starting to wonder if I'm disgusting! I do shower every day to be clear!

HeronLanyon · 15/04/2021 12:31

If I did sweat I would wash after a day. Think I only when in hot/humid climate have I ever sweated so my bra would be ‘sweated on’ Wink. This is accidental and lucky.
Lockdown means I can go several day per week without wearing one at all.
Now this may change I may need to stick up and wash more often too.
Sorted my tights drawer the other day. Cannot imagine wearing tights again or heels for that matter.

KirstenBlest · 15/04/2021 12:34

Only the once, with matching knickers of course.
Then I bin them.
Anything else is discusting.

variegated · 15/04/2021 12:39

@eurochick

Once, like all underwear.
Hardly the same as a thong is it!
missymousey · 15/04/2021 12:39

People who only wear them once, how many bras do you have? Curious because they're about £40 each, I've only got 4 and only 2 that I really like.

Washing machine about once a week. Sports bra for in the washing machine after every exercise session.

Seriouslymole · 15/04/2021 12:43

Ummm, sports bra - 2 shorter runs or 1 longer run . Normal bra - when I think "crikey, I've had this one on the go for quite a long time". That could be up to 5 or 6 days I reckon.

Standrewsschool · 15/04/2021 12:47

Up to a week.

Ringsender2 · 15/04/2021 12:49

@ShirleyPhallus

I take it off after an hour or so and bleach / boil wash at 90 degrees. Anything else is discusting tbh
????!!!!! @ShirleyPhallus?

how many bras do you get through every day?
how long do they last given they are supposed to be handwashed in low temp water?
do you do the same for your undies too?

so many questions!

MrsExpo · 15/04/2021 12:52

2-3 times, depending on what I'm doing. Also I can have 2 or 3 "in use" at any time depending on what I'm wearing and what I'm doing. So I might wear one on day one, then a different one on day 2, then the first one on day 3 etc ....

Goodness knows, I haven't counted them. I know I have some that don't fit now, my weight goes up and down.

Probably about ten that I can wear but I'm not sure.

I've shrunk a bit recently too.

Soothes · 15/04/2021 12:56

Sports bras every time but otherwise, as and when. I stopped buying white bras a long time ago, then you don't have the grey problem.

MizMoonshine · 15/04/2021 12:58

Twice when normal and not sweaty.
Arm breast feeding so I go through two a day.

notthe1Parrot · 15/04/2021 12:58

On the 1st of the month (but not every month).

Four weeks for bedsheets ( increased it from every week 10 years ago and never looked back).

“How to Love Your Laundry” (Patric Richardson and Karin Miller) is an enlightening read - heard him on Radio 4.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/04/2021 12:58

Sports bras after one wear, everyday ones probably after 3 days

emmathedilemma · 15/04/2021 12:59

Usually 2 days for a normal bra unless I've got particularly sweaty doing something. Sports bra gets washed after every exercise unless it was a gentle walk.

Skedall · 15/04/2021 12:59

@rainbowthoughts

I wear fresh clothes every day, after my shower, including bras.
same here

Yes I do go through a lot of bras but I think it’s essential in the pursuit of hygiene. I am working on a prototype of an iron bra so it withstands the washing a bit better.

I change knickers even more frequently, around every 10-15 minutes depending on how hot the weather is. I boil wash those in a mix of bleach, bicarbonate of soda and creosote to ensure they’re really clean.

Bedsheets get changed in the middle of the night, every night. Pillow cases have 2 hours. I recarpet the living room once a month.

Anyone who does less is a huge skank and I judge them for it

notalwaysalondoner · 15/04/2021 13:00

3-4 days. Socks and pants are different as feet smell much more than boobs, and pants touch where you pee/poo...

MizMoonshine · 15/04/2021 13:00

Out of curiosity- people wearing for 3+ days, are you smaller breasted? Cause I get the underboob sweat like hell.

notalwaysalondoner · 15/04/2021 13:01

Obviously sports bras after every session unless something super low intensity like easy yoga for 20 minutes or a short walk.

To be fair, if you have small boobs you don't need to pay £40 each, I don't think I've paid more than about £16 for one!
notalwaysalondoner · 15/04/2021 13:01

Yes, I am small breasted.

I do this too. Then double bag it and dispose of it in the hazardous waste bin.
SamMil · 15/04/2021 13:02

Usually up to around a week for normal bra.

Sports bras I wash after every use (unless under 5k run, then I'll wear twice if not sweaty).
