How many times do you wear a bra before washing?

AIBU - to wear once only? It’s costing me a fortune in underwear as they wear out/ grey quickly

Tosh to anyone who says they noil wash after wearing for an hour. They should be hand washed, rinsed in plain water (no fabric conditioner) and air dried.
I have a couple of those racks which hook over radiators. Even with heating off, bras and pants easily dry overnight.
You shouldn't tumble dry bras. They lose their elasticity very quickly if you do that.

Dontwanttolivewithmylover · 16/04/2021 20:33

Correction.
Boil, not noil

Makinglists · 16/04/2021 20:37

Every other day - when I had my first bra almost 40 years ago that's what my mum said I should do - and I've never differed. The only exception is I've done something really sweaty or grubby then I change it after day 1.

ChristmasAlone · 16/04/2021 20:46

It's been so long since I've worn a bra regularly I can't even remember 😅

Sports bra I do on a quick spin after every use then on a Sunday do it on a 90 (I run every day and go gym 3/4 times a week)

Bra every 2/3 days summer maybe daily if its been hot

CrankyFrankie · 16/04/2021 20:50

Makes me think of an old episode of that Trinny and Susanna (?) program with a woman who hadn’t washed her bra in 8 years! They tested it and it had all sorts of deadly bacteria on it 🤣

Leontine · 16/04/2021 20:50

All depends how long it’s been on and what I’ve been doing. If it’s only been on for about 3 hours and I’ve not done anything strenuous then I’ll wear it again.

LindaEllen · 16/04/2021 20:53

Some of you must have really sweaty tits. I change mine once a week. Knickers every day, bra once a week, other clothes when they need it. I shower daily, and wear deo. I'm not sure how you're all getting so dirty you have to change every day 😅😅

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/04/2021 20:55

A few days to a week. Unless I’ve been doing something that makes me sweaty or it’s hot.

alibongo5 · 16/04/2021 21:16

@FanPanCan

I love these MN competitive skank vs hygiene freak threads Grin I fall in the skank camp. Bathe a couple times a week, wash bras whenever I remember, change bedding whenever I can be arsed...
Sounds just like me. But I only go into work twice a week and they're the only days I wear a bra nowadays. Made the exception last night as well when I went out with friends but not the night before when I went out with my husband. I thought they might notice, whereas he wouldn't (or wouldn't care) but actually I don't think my friends would care either!
AliceAbsolum · 16/04/2021 21:27

A week

ChronicallyCurious · 16/04/2021 21:28

I wash everything after I wear it once.

proopher · 16/04/2021 21:30

If your bra is touching your armpit then you're not wearing the correct size!!

mermaidsariel · 16/04/2021 21:33

A week or so. Unless it’s hot and I’m sweating. I would never leave sheets on a bed longer than a week though.

littlepieces · 16/04/2021 21:54

About a week at the moment. I've been living in a couple of wire free ones since the pandemic started.
I wear a sports bra for exercising and always wash them after one use.

SweetPetrichor · 16/04/2021 22:00

I wash mine once a fortnight or so, but I only wear them when I leave the house, which is rare just now. (If I go out cycling, I wear a sports bra and that’s washed after a few wears.) 99% of my time is spent bra-less so I don’t give them much thought.

Even jeans/trousers/other outer clothes?

Do you have pets or messy children?

Harls1969 · 16/04/2021 22:43

Clean one every day when working, might wear the same one Saturday and Sunday. But I do get sweaty pits

firedog · 16/04/2021 22:51

I posted previously in the 'up to a couple of weeks' category as I alternate coloured / white etc.
I looked today and my bars are no where near arm pits. So don't really get sweaty or dirty.
Do bigger cups have wider sides that get sweaty??

Probably. Even though the side of my bra isn't in my armpit, it's close enough for me to worry. I am really funny about clothes though - I think it's from having two school blouses which had to last me all week (during puberty) so it's clean clothes every day at work.
keffie12 · 16/04/2021 23:12

Every 2 to 3 wears on average, sometimes a bit longer. It depends on a variety of things.. I don't wear a bra at home.

As soon as I'm in its off and I'm in lounge wear or some lightweight stretch dresses.

It depends really. If it's hot and I've been out all day it goes in the wash.

Now knickers are a different thing all together. I change mine 3 - 4 times per day, maybe more depending on many times I've been to the toilet

Casiloco · 16/04/2021 23:14

These threads are always good for a giggle.

Honestly how sweaty and smelly d'you have to be to need to change a bra every day?

ilovesouthlondon · 16/04/2021 23:19

Once like all my other clothes.

AnnieSnap · 16/04/2021 23:27

@idril

Hardly ever since the Bravissimo lady told me not to.
Tell us more Idril?
ChronicallyCurious · 16/04/2021 23:31

Even jeans/trousers/other outer clothes

Yes everything apart from my coat obviously including pyjamas. I have a cat but not messy. I own far too many clothes so if I wear something once the likelihood is I won’t wear it again for a while unless it’s something I really like and I don’t like the thought of hanging dirty clothes up with my clean ones.

Nobody on here is suggesting leaving it 8-years!
