How many times do you wear a bra before washing?

AIBU - to wear once only? It’s costing me a fortune in underwear as they wear out/ grey quickly

Maybe 2-3 wears depending on the weather / general sweatiness.

But what I’m taking from this thread is that some people see underwear as the only must-be-clean-every-day clothes, and it makes me wonder whether some of you are re-wearing your socks. I think I’d rather put on yesterday’s knickers than yesterday’s socks! (Ideally neither, but still.)

I'm also small of boob, so a bra (I wear bralettes mainly) are less likely to need changing daily than a tight t shirt if for me.

Miseryl · 15/04/2021 16:15

I have big droopy boobs so only wear for one day- I get a lot of underboobs sweat. I wear sports bras for one run.

moochingtothepub · 15/04/2021 16:17

2-3 days unless very hot thus sweaty. I struggle to get them to fit and those that do are £££

randomer · 15/04/2021 16:33

It's a funny thing isnt it a bra? I dont think I'll bother any more

WerkWerkWerkWerkWerk · 15/04/2021 16:34

"Also the impact of all this washing on the environment makes me despair."

100% this! I really don't understand it, but there is a real trend for super-sterile homes and bodies. Probably those bloody Dettol anti-bac spray adverts scaring the hell out of everyone. Ironic that those same corporations are now pushing their green credentials every opportunity

FangsForTheMemory · 15/04/2021 16:36

3 days. Would really like a clean one every day but I am large of boob and my bras are expensive so I can't afford more than three at a time.

Nicolastuffedone · 15/04/2021 16:37

Once.

nancywhitehead · 15/04/2021 16:47

Probably about a week unless it gets sweaty/ smelly.

People really over-wash their clothes, it's not good for our skin or the environment.

ketchupandmayo · 15/04/2021 16:54

I only wear sports bras these days. And I have to wash them after one wear because of how sweaty I get doing a workout. It really annoys me though.

fussychica · 15/04/2021 17:04

I usually buy matching sets 1 underwired bra to 3 pants. So wear a bra for 3 days and pants once. Have separate sports bra for exercise worn once.
My underwired bras have always been fine in my machine on a gentle wash. It's been years since I had a bra where the wire wore through due to washing or otherwise. They are either better made now or I have a better machine.

SpeedRunParent · 15/04/2021 17:05

@ShirleyPhallus

I take it off after an hour or so and bleach / boil wash at 90 degrees. Anything else is discusting tbh
😂😂😂
AlwaysLatte · 15/04/2021 17:05

Twice usually.

OverTheRainbow88 · 15/04/2021 17:14

Oh my this thread has made me feel like an unhygienic minger

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/04/2021 17:17

Two days for normal bras. I rarely wash my sports bra...

idril · 15/04/2021 17:19

Hardly ever since the Bravissimo lady told me not to.

RampantIvy · 15/04/2021 17:21

Once. They literally sit under your arms, absorbing sweat.

Mine are nowhere near my armpits. I can put my hand between the top of the bra material and where my armpit starts.

Troyhelena · 15/04/2021 17:23

4/5 days generally. Up to a week max

Carryonlikeaporkchop · 15/04/2021 17:23

They literally sit under your arms, absorbing sweat.

What sort of bras are you wearing?

I have never had a bra that "literally" sits under my arms.

Troyhelena · 15/04/2021 17:24

Speak for yourself 😂

emmylousings · 15/04/2021 17:28

Washing after one wear is literally mental. I despair that people just don't give a shit about how much water / detergent they use / shoving microfibres into the environment. Washing clothes releases micro plastics into our water supply; which we then consume. Scientists believe there may be a link between our injestion of plastics and cancer, infertility and rapidly declining sperm counts. But don't worry about any of that, at least you're not scuzzy... Confused

BrownEyedGirl80 · 15/04/2021 17:30

About 3 or 4 times

Chicchicchicchiclana · 15/04/2021 17:31

I have 6 bras and they probably all get washed every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on what wash loads I'm doing. So that's 6 every 21 days = every 4th wear or something like that. I don't count.

Enko · 15/04/2021 17:59

@BertramLacey Your washing machine will use a lot more water than my small bucket will and yes you are washing other things still more water than what the handwashing will use.

my response was in respect to the comment about the environment and through handwashing certain items I most certainly believe (and my water bill shows too) that I am using less water.

Bloodybridget · 15/04/2021 18:00

Two days, one day if it's very hot and I get sweaty. But I just wear those Sloggi type ones, and have quite a few.
