AIBU?

Viral vid of girl having finger put in chocolate covered fruit....

the child is blindfolded - when the blindfold is taken off, a dogs rear end is put in place of the chocolate fruit - so the kid thinks she's put her finger in the dogs bum.

AIBU and a bit of a Karen (as Ive been called on Tik Tok!) to think this absolutely atrocious behaviour as a parent and the little girl, who was clearly distressed, will have some trust issues now because of this?!

Someone on my FB did it to their 10 year old who freaked out massively and she kept filming and then he vomited whilst his mum laughed her head off.
My first thought was what a dick his mum was! Poor child :(

@AStrangerToHerself

Disgusting. There were also ones of little kids being shown pics of special needs adults and being told it was their new teacher , horrified kids been filmed crying. Disgusting on so many levels o can’t even begin..

That is awful 😱 I mean for the people with special needs, very sad that the kids would be horrified and crying.

I think it's cruel and borderline abusive. Kids aren't toys to use as a prop for internet fame.

There were some videos going around at Xmas with kids posing for photos and being crept up on from behind by someone dressed as the Grinch. They filmed their terrified reactions as they ran away towards the camera and presumably their parents or carer. Sick.

Its not bad to do it in the privacy of your own home.

I beg to differ. Regardless of whether its in the privacy of your own home or in front of the whole solar system. Effectively making a child put her finger in a dogs bottom is sickening. Infact no ill tell it exactly what it is. Its abuse to both the child and the dog not to mention unhygenic.

The dog wasn't harmed at all and nothing unhygienic occurs in these 'pranks'.

The issue here is that the child assumes they have actually put their finger in their dog's bottom, causing evident distress.

I haven't seen this, thankfully, just reading the description I feel upset for the child. Why do that to a child?

Vile behaviour, revolting and totally unfunny "joke".

This came before the dog bum prank.

What on earth is wrong with these people?

The opposite as well, sad videos for sympathy rather than funny. Saw one that went viral of a little girl about five years old crying and saying she was ugly. As a parent if that was my child I would be very upset myself and trying to get to the bottom of where this had come from, not uploading it quickly to Instagram for likes and follows.

Oh - that's heartbreaking!

Poor little soul.

Gross. I hate it when people use their kids for entertainment like this.

This sort of thing damages children.

I know most people will think I'm over the top saying this, but it does. It teaches them that no-one cares about their feelings, and that they are just an object of amusement to other people. It destroys self-esteem, and makes them build a shell around themselves - and it also teaches them that bullying/ humiliating other people is acceptable.

It's horrible!

I can't stand pranks pulled on children.

My parents were forever "hiding" from me as a small child. Letting me think I was alone in the house or if I went on a fairground ride they would hide and watch me get frantic looking for them as the ride went on and I was trapped on it.

Then they would jump out and mock me for crying.

It's left me with a lifetime of issues around not being able to show any emotions.

Some people are just nasty.

And to fucking film it.

I now have three children myself and would never take any pleasure in causing them a moment of distress in the name of "fun".

I think you know you're going to get a backlash here so I'm not going to go in too much (although I question your sense of humour) so the only thing I will say is that you are an adult and this was a young child who was clearly distressed by it. there is a big difference.

I think some people have become very overly sensitive. I personally don’t like everything being put on the internet but the actual prank was harmless. Those who are saying it’s abusive/going to mess the kid up are being extremely dramatic. Lots of people play pranks on each other it’s just fun being silly and laughing as long as no one gets hurt or scared then I don’t see the issue.

You don't know whether it was harmless, though.

I can easily imagine the child not trusting their parents not to embarrass/ humiliate them. It takes remarkably little to traumatise a child, they are more sensitive than adults and they don't understand the world in the same way. It's pretty fundamental that you don't use your child like this just to boost your social media.

Reminds me of a grown man at a party who thought it was hilarious to bend over and fart in the hosts kids face. :-(

I quite like a prank, but they are only funny if they are done to someone who will find them funny too. Pulling pranks on people who are going to be upset by them or not understand what's happened is just awful.

I saw one a while back where a woman was "hilariously" woken by her partner by using a vacuum on her mouth, she looked so upset and he was just cracking up laughing. Fucking awful human being.

I watch dog videos on youtube and I have seen what looks like dogs having balloons inserted into their bottoms and inflating them when they fart. In one instance the balloon was then handed to someone else for them to continue blowing up.

I'm so sorry to see this Hey. This is the sort of thing I was getting at. It sits with you all your life. (My parents were similar)

Im so glad you brought this up, i was sent that video by a friend, she had the crying laughing emoji underneath it, I found it terrible, not one bit funny, said it to her and was told I have no sense of humor. I have a great sense of humor (i think) but whats funny about a little girl horrified and crying.
