Viral vid of girl having finger put in chocolate covered fruit....

LadyOfTheRingsS · 12/04/2021 17:35

the child is blindfolded - when the blindfold is taken off, a dogs rear end is put in place of the chocolate fruit - so the kid thinks she's put her finger in the dogs bum.

AIBU and a bit of a Karen (as Ive been called on Tik Tok!) to think this absolutely atrocious behaviour as a parent and the little girl, who was clearly distressed, will have some trust issues now because of this?!

That's horrible, well done for calling it out!
"Karen" is such a lazy insult and I think we all need to be more Karen.
I can't imagine doing anything to embarrass or upset my DD and I wouldn't allow anyone else to either.

Hankunamatata · 12/04/2021 19:51

I thought it was abusive. Dh thought it was funny. He said I'm too uptight

toocold54 · 12/04/2021 19:56

I thought it was funny. They would have obviously told them afterwards that it was a prank. Some pranks I don’t find funny at all eg when a parent hides under the bed in a scary mask etc but I found this one harmless. My DD has a fake cat poo which looks so realistic and she always tricks me with it.

Sugarbelle · 12/04/2021 20:04

@toocold54 I think you know you're going to get a backlash here so I'm not going to go in too much (although I question your sense of humour) so the only thing I will say is that you are an adult and this was a young child who was clearly distressed by it. there is a big difference.

GabsAlot · 12/04/2021 20:04

yes i saw this would be ok on a teena maybe but the kid looks and sounds distraught

Pumperthepumper · 12/04/2021 20:04

I don’t see how it can be funny when the butt of the joke is so obviously a punch down. Maybe if it had been another adult making it more of an equal footing - or is it funny specifically because it’s an innocent kid?

OverByYer · 12/04/2021 20:07

Can’t stand people praying their kids and posting online. Narcissistic

toocold54 · 12/04/2021 20:09

I think some people have become very overly sensitive. I personally don’t like everything being put on the internet but the actual prank was harmless. Those who are saying it’s abusive/going to mess the kid up are being extremely dramatic. Lots of people play pranks on each other it’s just fun being silly and laughing as long as no one gets hurt or scared then I don’t see the issue.

KoalaOok · 12/04/2021 20:11

Just reading that has made me feel upset for the poor child. Why put them through that distress?!

I’d say trusting your parent not to humiliate you (especially online) is a fairly basic tenant of parenting though. Especially when that humiliation only exists to boost that parent’s online profile.
KoalaOok · 12/04/2021 20:12

@Rowofducks

I saw a similar one where the mum asked for toilet paper and smeared chocolate spread on their child’s hand as they took it and then laughed as their child was sick on the bathroom floor. It was awful but I seemed to be the only one who thought that.
That is horrendous. Why are people so cruel.
GCAcademic · 12/04/2021 20:13

Social media has turned people into complete cunts.

KoalaOok · 12/04/2021 20:15

If I made my child cry by being deliberately cruel I would never forgive myself.

DontBeRidiculous · 12/04/2021 20:20

That's disgusting and borderline abusive, imo. Obviously the dog wasn't touched and doesn't know what's going on around it, but to suggest even as a joke that you'd do that (or trick someone else into doing that) just for the hell of it is disturbing to me.

I don't have a problem with pranks, in general, but that crosses a line. What a nasty sense of humour!

m0therofdragons · 12/04/2021 20:27

Pranks are just bullying in the guise of a “joke”. Pulling a prank is one thing and bad enough but posting it on social is taking it a step further. Just nasty.

Sugarbelle · 12/04/2021 20:28

@toocold54 the little girl was very upset though, not laughing and thinking it was silly.

I agree about the online issue. Too many people are more interested in ‘likes’ or getting sympathy from random people online.

littlepattilou · 12/04/2021 20:57

I have a good sense of humour, and a raucous one sometimes, but nope, that is a bit gross!

TheNestedIf · 12/04/2021 21:00

I don't think pranking children is a terrible thing and can often be quite funny, but the point should be to fondly tease, not to provoke to the point of upset. In this case the adults should have revealed it was chocolate a lot sooner.

KinkyFink's story about the soap upthread isn't funny at all. The equivalent in this case would have been actually to let the child poke the dog up the bum.

Kanaloa · 12/04/2021 21:00

I hate how desperate some parents are to video their kids for online clout. I just think it’s pathetic. I saw one video of a mum telling her child she had eaten all his Halloween sweets, why would you do that and why would you video it? So bizarre and not at all funny.

Kanaloa · 12/04/2021 21:01

I also don’t like pranks on adults though - I don’t find a joke funny if it involves laughing at someone.

WeWereOnABreak10 · 12/04/2021 21:02

That's really horrible. Poor child.

Kanaloa · 12/04/2021 21:06

The opposite as well, sad videos for sympathy rather than funny. Saw one that went viral of a little girl about five years old crying and saying she was ugly. As a parent if that was my child I would be very upset myself and trying to get to the bottom of where this had come from, not uploading it quickly to Instagram for likes and follows.

OfftoSainsbos · 12/04/2021 21:09

Josie from Big Brother posted a version of this on her Instagram page. Her nephew looked really upset Sad

LadyOfTheRingsS · 12/04/2021 21:34

Just watched the Josie one. Vile.

There was a trend going round a while back where people would Chuck a piece of ham on the baby's face. Again! Why?! Fucking bullies!! That's why!!
