To ask how I can lose 2 stone in the quickest way possible?

I know why I’m overweight, and I know a quick fix isn’t usually the answer but I’ve just found out I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS. The only downside is I have to lose 2 stone to bring my BMI below 30.

I’m in shock as I’d got my head around the fact we’d have to use savings/ get a loan and when you pay privately, your BMI is less of an issue.

Apparently there’s no waiting list either so the sooner I lose the weight, the sooner we can crack on. Time isn’t on our side, I’m nearing 40 and have been recommended starting ASAP.

I’ve done meal replacement diets in the past and the weight loss was quick but I couldn’t exercise. To be honest, I’ve done every diet ever. Sad
Any advice would be gratefully received.

I find that 16:8 is the best way for me to lose weight, I had to drop weight quickly after being diagnosed diabetic.

There's no point in a fad diet, OP, that's going to leave your body malnourished in any way. Eat as healthily as you can, lots of veg and protein so your body is in its best shape to nurture a pregnancy. And start walking, it costs nothing and you can gradually increase to 15k steps a day.

Good luck.

It’s really simple! (But takes will power to stick to!)
Cut out all heavily processed foods. That’s it!
That means:
No refined sugar. No wheat. No alcohol except the occasional sprit.
No pasta, no rice, no noodles, no white potato (an occasional sweet potato ok)
No oats - porridge
No cereal
Most importantly no bread or any bread products!
No sugary foods at all except berries, apples, fruit. Be careful with just the occasional banana.
Handful of almonds as a snack fine.
You are aiming for eggs and protein for breakfast
Salad with protein or a homemade soup for lunch.
Protein (chicken or pork or beef or fish) with veg or more salad for dinner.
Snacks are fruit and a few almonds or plain greek youghurt or carrot / cucumber sticks with hummus
No sugar in tea or coffee.
It’s basically the primal diet. It works- fast. The weight literally drops of in weeks but you have to stick to it. Any lapses in sugar or processed carbs will majorly slow it down

tisonlymeagain · 11/04/2021 21:31

I started using MFP this week, dropped 4lbs in 5 days just calorie counting, walking about 8000 steps/5k a day and about 20 mins cardio (just following YouTube videos). I'm also loosely doing 16:8 alongside but that's more accidental than anything. Calorie controlled diet and cutting out booze is the only thing that works for me.

Quit4me · 11/04/2021 21:32

Forgot to say- you will feel starving at first (drink lots of water) and may even feel really crap for the first few days whilst your body adjusts to the lower sugar) but after the first week, you will be more used to lighter smaller amounts of food. Your stomach will shrink and you won’t be hungry as much

covilha · 11/04/2021 21:33

Would recommend Keto

Sstrongtn · 11/04/2021 21:36

@SylviaPlath1984 what is VLCD? I have 2 stone to lose

@Sightforsoreeyez what is dry fasting??

Shortiemyboo · 11/04/2021 21:36

The cambridge plan

PuddyMuddles4 · 11/04/2021 21:39

I've just lost 25lb in 6 weeks on Exante. I even had a cheat week in between. You can lose about a stone a month doing keto, but the shakes and bars are good for me.

Dry fasting - when done correctly, people are horrified by it but that’s because they aren’t educated.

I dropped 14lbs in 4 days.

What possible advantage is there of not drinking water?
LH1987 · 11/04/2021 21:48

Good luck @Ticktock40! With the right mind set you will definitely achieve it!

HedgePutty · 11/04/2021 21:51

Keto/blood sugar and michale Mosley, 5:2 with a Mediterranean diet, low carb, basically the opposite of slimming world and slim fast with their high carb low fat shit!

LilQueenie · 11/04/2021 21:54

doesn't matter if its NHS or private your BMI is still a factor as it can determine how likely you are to get pregnant.

LilQueenie · 11/04/2021 21:59

Don't forget to eat well for vitamins and nutrients. what you eat the 2/3 months before conception has an effect on your eggs. also ensure your partner is eating well as it will effect his sperm in the 2/3 months beforehand too.

teaandcake22 · 11/04/2021 22:05

As others have said Fast 800. I did it last year for 3 weeks and lost just under a stone with no exercise or just some walking. Watch the Dr Michael Mosley programme on catch up, how to lose a stone in 21 days I think it was called to get into the zone and understand it. There are two cook books Fast 800 on Amazon or they are in a few supermarkets. There are loads of brilliant tasty and normal recipes in them. We still cook each week using these books and I've kept the weight off for about 4 months so far.

I found it fine, I slept so well, woke up feeling fresh and generally felt great and surprisingly no that hungry. I tracked using MPF. Weigh yourself to keep yourself going. I was being lazy with no exercise during it, but even if it is just getting your steps jn? Best of luck on whichever weight loss you go for and best of luck with your next chapter xxx

I haven't read the whole thread but what worked for me is intermittent fasting

Dry fasting is fasting with no food or liquids. That’s why it’s controversial, but only by people who don’t understand it or take the time to research it. And do the correct prep work for before and after.

I’ve done and researched it for over a year. It’s also amazing for healing (my eczema cleared). I regularly see women lose a stone in 5 days.

It’s also good for lose skin and maintaining muscle mass.

Two women I’ve become friends with lost 50lbs in 2 months and both are over 40.

You can also do it with liquid and salts if you don’t want to do it dry but the results aren’t as good.

Haven't RTFT but my OH lost 2 stone in 3 months. Doing the Fast 800 (Michael Moseley). Really recommend this diet.

You genuinely think that only people who don't 'understand' dry fasting think it's unhealthy and dangerous?

MajorNeville · 11/04/2021 22:19

To kick start a diet and to give myself the initial results to motivate me further I'm doing Exante. I love most of the shakes and bars, meals are hit and miss. I've lost 10lb in 3 weeks, not as good as some people but I'm 54 and currently wfh so not moving as much as I used to. Roll on the gyms opening.

BlueDahlia69 · 11/04/2021 22:21

TBF OP Did ask how to lose 2 stones the quickest way possible.

Most of these diets are extreme but this IS the question OP asked.

that's a nice pace too, well done.

Ive never heard of Exante, is it similar to Herbalife products.

Ive lost 5 lbs this last two weeks, its a long road, but Im sticking with the 16:8 and calorie counting and I swim every day.

Fingers crossed.
