To ask how I can lose 2 stone in the quickest way possible?

Ticktock40 · 11/04/2021 16:52

I know why I’m overweight, and I know a quick fix isn’t usually the answer but I’ve just found out I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS. The only downside is I have to lose 2 stone to bring my BMI below 30.

I’m in shock as I’d got my head around the fact we’d have to use savings/ get a loan and when you pay privately, your BMI is less of an issue.

Apparently there’s no waiting list either so the sooner I lose the weight, the sooner we can crack on. Time isn’t on our side, I’m nearing 40 and have been recommended starting ASAP.

I’ve done meal replacement diets in the past and the weight loss was quick but I couldn’t exercise. To be honest, I’ve done every diet ever. Sad
Any advice would be gratefully received.

@Smartypoppet

Eat less, exercise more. It's not exactly complicated. Three meals a day, small portions and no treats or snacking in-between. Drinking a pint of water every time you are hungry in-between meals.
If it was this uncomplicated everyone would be slim. It’s about finding the diet that suits you thus making it possible to stick to it.

If I want to lose weight

BlueDahlia69 · 11/04/2021 20:35

@Mooey89

I had surgery last year. Before I did it, I had to do the liver reduction diet. Google it. I lost 1.5 stone in 2 weeks. It’s Hardcore though but better than shakes!

Ive done this Diet too OP, I swear it works.

mines was Yoghurt Milk black tea water for 2 weeks, I struggle to look at yoghurt now, but I lost similar too @Mooey89.

Worth trying maybe 1 week.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/04/2021 20:44

Google it, particularly advice for people having to slim down quickly before an operation. The info is there. (Don't follow unsafe things obviously).

dotdashdashdash · 11/04/2021 20:49
@dotdashdashdash I don't suppose you have a referal code for the slim and save do you?
I do, but I have to send it via email. You can PM me if you want to.

malovitt · 11/04/2021 20:51

Do you have a juicer?
My friend lost 11lb in one week by doing Jason Vale's 7lb in 7 days.
Get the app, everything is in there.
I regularly do some juicing when I want to lose weight quickly.

KinseyWinsey · 11/04/2021 20:58

Couch to 5K.

Cut out all sugar.

2021Vision · 11/04/2021 21:02

Fast 800 combined with 16/8 fasting and low carb. it will fall off.

JellyBabiesFan · 11/04/2021 21:02

Please please do not follow the advice of the plethora of people on her suggesting the latest fad diet be it keto, intermittent fasting or whatever.

Some of these diets can have implications on for your fertility and on the whole are not sustainable.

The best thing you can do is cut out processed junk as much as possible. So develop a calorie controlled nutrition plan based around lean meats, fish, vegetables, nuts, seeds and a reasonable amount of potatoes, rice and fruit.

Bump up your exercise if you can, even if its only HIIT training based on power walking. It will provide a good metabolism boost.

Giraffey1 · 11/04/2021 21:04

Please don’t try the dry fast. It is a dad and is not supported by the medical profession.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 11/04/2021 21:06

Exante, I've lost 5 stone on that before.
It costs around £80 a month if you go for the offers.
I find the soups and meals revolting so just do the shakes and bars.
If you do it to the letter you will lose at least a stone every month.

JellyBabiesFan · 11/04/2021 21:09

Dry fasting - when done correctly, people are horrified by it but that’s because they aren’t educated. I dropped 14lbs in 4 days

Shock horror. The body is 60% water. Hardly surprising that you lose weight when you restrict fluid intake.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 11/04/2021 21:11

@Sightforsoreeyez

Dry fasting - when done correctly, people are horrified by it but that’s because they aren’t educated.

I dropped 14lbs in 4 days.

No, it's because it's dangerous and unhealthy.

Dropping a stone in four days is not an example of a healthy diet.

OP should also remember she is losing weight to have a child and therefore her body needs to be nourished and healthy, not punished by a damaging and dangerous diet.

Calling people uneducated when you're recommending dry fasting is incredibly ironic.

Yes, it makes you lose weight quickly. So does total, absolute starvation. Neither are healthy.

MrsMaizel · 11/04/2021 21:13

It's more about what goes in your mouth than anything else . I would recommend low carbing/paleo diet . i have done this and lost 8 kilos with little effort and no exercise .

Quornflakegirl · 11/04/2021 21:13

I calorie count and do 20 minutes of intensive hiit workouts 6 days a week. I lost a stone in a 4 weeks.

Moonwhite · 11/04/2021 21:14

I wouldn't normally pass this on, but if you have the stamina for it - the potato diet. It's in the diet biography written by the ponytail and specs half of Penn and Teller. he dropped over a pound a day eating nothing but plain potatoes and sweet potatoes. As many as you like and cooked anyway you like but no oil, salt or toppings obviously. I managed it for two weeks and lost 20 pounds, so over a stone. And now I dislike potatoes. But my cravings disappeared after day two and I felt fine. It's probably a more nutritious diet than those godawful protein shakes and bars.

I wouldn't recommend it for long, but to give a fast start, maybe. It certainly tells you if you really like potatoes or just like them as a carrier for cheese and sour cream. I'm in the latter category.

Anyway, good luck with everything Flowers

EastWestWhosBest · 11/04/2021 21:16

I had to do exactly the same. I was too overweight to have IVF.

I had a deadline. I had to go to the doctor on a certain date to be weighted and measured.

What I did was every single thing I went to put in my mouth I thought ‘do I want this or a baby’.

catherineofarrogance80 · 11/04/2021 21:17

@GreyhoundLurcher

Starvation???
Really bad taste after the death of Nikki Grahame yesterday
ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 11/04/2021 21:17

There was stuff in the press yesterday about how it will be recommended that BMI be dropped in any format from the NHS.

Gwenhwyfar · 11/04/2021 21:19

" and on the whole are not sustainable."

She didn't ask for anything sustainable.

catherineofarrogance80 · 11/04/2021 21:21

@BJHair

I’m on ozmepic - I’ve lost 15 lbs since Feb 25 and I’m aiming for another half a stone by mid this time next month I’m taking it as Im diabetic but i think it’s just starting to be available for weightloss

The other one is Saxenda which I had for diabetes but under a different name but Ozmepic is much better

Is this for weight loss or diabetes?
alphabetti · 11/04/2021 21:23

Switch to whole meal bread, rice, pasta and lower carbs. Don’t cut them completely though otherwise you’ll feel hungry and grab anything. Lots of protein, fresh fruit and veg and salad. Watch what you drink too.

Try and exercise even just walk places you’d normally drive to.

BippityBoppity87 · 11/04/2021 21:23

I'm just doing low carb (I've cut out bread, pasta and potatoes mainly) and low sugar. Plenty healthy fats like avocado, nuts, eggs etc. I only started last Monday and I've lost 6lbs. Nothing complicated and it seems to be working. I've also got electrolyte tablets that I put into water and drink once a day. I have a lot to lose though, so could be why it's dropped off so quick (and probably mostly water weight) but the main thing is I'm not starving myself so it's been easier to stick to
