To ask how I can lose 2 stone in the quickest way possible?

Ticktock40 · 11/04/2021 16:52

I know why I’m overweight, and I know a quick fix isn’t usually the answer but I’ve just found out I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS. The only downside is I have to lose 2 stone to bring my BMI below 30.

I’m in shock as I’d got my head around the fact we’d have to use savings/ get a loan and when you pay privately, your BMI is less of an issue.

Apparently there’s no waiting list either so the sooner I lose the weight, the sooner we can crack on. Time isn’t on our side, I’m nearing 40 and have been recommended starting ASAP.

I’ve done meal replacement diets in the past and the weight loss was quick but I couldn’t exercise. To be honest, I’ve done every diet ever. Sad
Any advice would be gratefully received.

I think people relying to this need to bear in mind that op has asked for the quickest way... not the best way to keep muscle tone, or the best way to up energy etc etc, simply the QUICKEST way.

Although there's some good general advice for long term fitness and weight loss, the quickest by far is going to be a VLCD. She doesn't have much to lose, it's not a long term thing and serves a purpose, so I don't think it's fair that some are saying it's not going to be good to do that before getting pregnant... I lost weight on VLCD to get pregnant, I'm healthier than ever now 22weeks and the baby is super healthy too!

I think you'll see good results and health benefits with keto and 16:8 combined.
Plus lifting weights and at least 10,000 brisk steps per day. c25k if you can. Good luck 💐

For me it has to be nutracheck app - or similar and calorie deficit. I know it’s not for everyone but with it I feel I can eat what I fancy in moderation and the app makes it so easy to count calories. I never felt deprived. For me it really works - a stone gone in a month.

I wouldn’t be too strict on yourself with extreme diets or plans. Fitbit and staying active is great too!

For real OP you could lose 2 stone in 3 weeks dry fasting and walking.

You also keep muscle mass and it’s completely free. Aside from the electrolytes you use which can literally just be salt.

Or you can do “snake juice” which is less extreme.

I’m not up on ivf but surely good health is important? Loosing weight as fast as possible could leave you deficient in nutrients. Plus you need something you can stick to. The fast 800 and keto are good but very strict would you be able to stick to it? If you couldn’t it would be a bit of a rollercoaster weight wise. Otherwise as a pp said calorie count and walk a lot.

Breast cancer are doing a sponsored walk 100 mile in May, that might give you the motivation to walk, you already have the goal for weight loss Smile I would think it would take about 10 - 12 weeks with sustained input. Easier to lose a stone in a short time but the second stone may take longer.

28lb x 3500 calories is a quite a lot of calorie deficit, 98000 by my reckoning.

This was me in October. Needed my BMI down to 30.
I did Cambridge one to one diet. I know it's not the best way to loose the weight but I did it and I've maintained ever since. We've just done an all freeze IVF round and my BMI is 29.3.

I need to lose 3 stone (at least) although not for reasons as pressing as yours.

I had started the Fast 800 earlier in the year and had really good results but ended up getting pleurisy and fell off the wagon (pleurisy wasn't related but once I felt better I just wanted to eat to recover not diet and I've never got back on it)

Going to start on Monday with

Hi,
so basically you need to lower your calorie intake and you need to be calorie deficit (3500 calories for 1lb loss in a week)

tdeecalculator.net/ use this calculator for your basic metabolic rate plus your daily activity
that number will be your calories for the day to maintain your body, so if you want loose weight you need to take off 500 calories.

and if you go on too little calories your body instead of burning calories will be storing the fat.

Aim for 15000 steps a day

And there is lots of workouts on youtube
ie.

I am personally using this guy workouts.
I lost a stone from the beginning of March.

@SylviaPlath1984 how much did you lose, how quickly, how low did your calories go? Congratulations on your pregnancy by the way.

The cabbage soup diet: www.webmd.com/diet/a-z/cabbage-soup-diet

Did it a few years ago and lost half a stone in a week. It’s what they use in hospital if they need patients to lose weight quickly ahead of surgery.

Terrible in the medium or long term as you aren’t getting the right nutrients, but it does work.

3500 calories doesn’t equal 1lb. That’s a myth.

It’s the same as the whole muscle weighs more than fat.

I lost and I'm losing weight by not eating, bread, pasta, rice and all the delicious carby things that go with it. I also walk up to 15 miles a day.

Very boring but it does work and I actually enjoy eating this way. I do have treats one day a week as I think we all need a cheat day/meal.

Good luck.

3st in 2.5 months, I was 14st to start with. The calories are measure out for you, you just choose three packs a day from their meal range so you don't have to count anything! It's really simple. And thank you, hopefully your baby won't be far away for you! ❤️

Honestly? just pick one thing and stick to it.

Drink mainly water and 2L of it per day
No alcohol
Keep your carb intake low
Calorie count
Fill half your plate with veg (no added fats)

Whatever you choose to do, as long as you stick to it then it will work.

Sorry TickTock - flippant answer. I am in a similar dilemma. I have started resistance band training as I have a bad back and don't want to make it worse with impact exercise. Plenty of water and an almost vegetarian diet will help. Don't be too strict as fertility treatment has it's own crosses to bear. Maybe ask your partner to buddy up with you. Swimming is also a great way to manage mental and physical health. Good luck!!! X

I started Keto and have lost a stone in less than 3 weeks. You have to be very strict and focussed and get the supplys in you need to make the diet work. I am sticking at it as I have another stone to go but feel amazing already

The only time my OH ever commented on noticeable weight loss I was doing 16:8 fasting, eating paleo and working out when fasting. I need to try that again...

Good luck OP

Join bootcamp (lowcarbing) - the next one starts tomorrow and it’s brilliant.

If you stick with it properly and you happen to be one of the ones who really suits it you should be able to lose the full two stone over the 10 weeks, but even if you’re one of the ones who doesn’t lose all that much, you should expect to see a loss of about a stone. Keep going after that (lots of us low carb pretty consistently between camps) and you should quite easily see the full loss in around 3 months.

Plus it’s a very healthy eating plan, and focuses on quality food intake with as little processed food as possible.

Slim and save - its VLCD like cambridge diet, exante etc but cheaper and not an MLM. You loose weight quickly - depending on your current weight you could lose that 2 stone in 6 weeks or less.

Before everyone jumps on me - I'm not recommending it, just answering the OPs question.
