To ask how I can lose 2 stone in the quickest way possible?

I know why I’m overweight, and I know a quick fix isn’t usually the answer but I’ve just found out I’m eligible for IVF on the NHS. The only downside is I have to lose 2 stone to bring my BMI below 30.

I’m in shock as I’d got my head around the fact we’d have to use savings/ get a loan and when you pay privately, your BMI is less of an issue.

Apparently there’s no waiting list either so the sooner I lose the weight, the sooner we can crack on. Time isn’t on our side, I’m nearing 40 and have been recommended starting ASAP.

I’ve done meal replacement diets in the past and the weight loss was quick but I couldn’t exercise. To be honest, I’ve done every diet ever. Sad
Any advice would be gratefully received.

My fitness Pal, track EVERYTHING you eat, try to get the rest of your household on board too as it's a lot easier if you work towards a shared goal. Also try to reduce sugar and identify some lower calorie and sugar treats and snacks in advance so you aren't at a loss when you do want a snack. Popcorn, oatcakes + a small bit of peanut butter, lower calorie biscuits like Nairns, Graze snack bites, and at the weekend you can have a small bowl of low calorie ice cream. Dark chocolate is also great as it's less sugary so you need less of it to satisfy any cravings.

Please bear in mind your folic acid - don't skimp on nutrients some of which are vital for a healthy pregnancy.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 12/04/2021 20:29

Got covid, lost 10kg in a week 🤣
Hospital used to recommend cabbage soup diet pre operations, regularly people lost 7lbs in a week on that, it all goes back on normally of course.

  1. Search on Youtube for talks by "Dr Jason Fung PHC"

His suggestion: Intermittent Fasting

2. Search on YouTube fortalks by: "Dr David Unwin PHC"
His suggestion: Stop all bread, sugar and all other carbs

3. Search on Youtube for talks by: "Dr Zoe Harcombe PHC"
Her suggestion: Replace all carbs with "healthy fats"

Keep watching these talks to re-inforce your weight loss programme

If you implement their suggestions your weight will drop dramatically

Best wishes

Get your H to leave you suddenly - you can lose 10 kilos in two weeks like that !

Montypi · 12/04/2021 20:47

I’ve lost two stone in the last 5 months doing this. Under 1100 calories a day and walking 10km a day. It’s tough but if you have an end goal worth it. Good luck!

Rachel1874 · 12/04/2021 20:51

Personally I lost 2 stone by drinking nothing but water (with the exception of my morning coffee). And then walking an hour a day, power walking. I used to race the bus home from work see how far I could get before it got to me. Not sure how long it took me though.

I never made the life span claim dummy

@SummerWillow

Silly answer - E. coli - lost a stone in a week 😫

Yeah, I wish. I had a gastric ulcer. Vomited and pooped out everything over 2 days. Didn't eat for a week. Barely ate for the next 2 weeks. Lost like 0.5kg. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?????/
PandoraP · 12/04/2021 20:58

Yes I had really serious food poisoning a few years ago and emerged from it so gorgeously slim. Maybe eat some undercooked chicken OP

Exciting about IVF!! Can understand why you want to get the weight off quickly so you can get on with it as soon as possible.

You can lose 2 stone in 12 weeks if you do The Low Blood Sugar Diet. It will be very hard the first week but after that it does get easier. It’s like the Fast 800 but more hardcore, so the weight comes off even quicker. If you only eat between 8am and 6pm too that makes it even more effective.

A few people have suggested The Body Coach on this thread. I wouldn’t recommend it for fast weight loss, more of a life change and weight loss is much slower (albeit a fantastic programme and definitely one to switch onto once you’ve done 12 weeks of TLBSD).

Katieeb24 · 12/04/2021 21:46

I’ve lost 7 stone in total mainly calorie counting a lost a stone each month in my first 2 months!

bathmatty · 12/04/2021 22:08

@Katieeb24 did you reduce your calories each month?

RaeRae84 · 12/04/2021 23:13

Congratulations on the IVF news!
I don't know if this has already been said but can you see a dietitian?
Then they can tailor something to your needs. I managed to lose 3 stone myself just eating 80% healthily and exercising but hit a plateau for 6 months. I went to see one and see got me to drop my last stone in 6 weeks just by tweaking what I was already doing.
I know you want to lose it quickly but I'm sure they can advise on a safe way.
Whatever you do, good luck for the loss and IVF 🤞

Low carb and be really strict, no cheats. Don't even need to do crazy workouts, up the walking and do some yoga or something if you enjoy. Drink a shit Tom of water! Low carb and the weight will drop off you. Try and just have a meat (protein) and veg each meal.

Breakfast -

Slice of wholemeal bread with organic peanut butter

Or

Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and spinach

Lunch -

Chicken salad (whatever veg you want to add) with 30 grams of Hellman smoked garlic and ceaser dressing and 20 grams of cheese

Or

Chicken fried in coconut oil with half a jar of pasta sauce/some spicy sauce/Cajun spice etc...whatever you like. 20 grams of cheese.

Or

Wholemeal wrap with whatever filling you like with a massive salad but hold the cheese.

Dinner -

Steak and veg with a peppercorn sauce

Or

Chicken stuffed with black pudding wrapped in Parma ham with salad or veg

Or

Salmon wrapped in tinfoil with 30grams of sweet chilli sauce with salad or veg

You could add in sweet potato fries to your dinners at weekends.

And weigh everything.

Don't bother with fruit.

If you want something sweet then a couple squares of 85% + dark chocolate or a teaspoon of peanut butter.

JGB1987 · 13/04/2021 02:13

Hello,
Like the others, I would recommend keto with fasting. The initials weight loss is amazing! And after/during keto you might even find you don’t need IVF as keto babies are a real thing!
Good luck!

Creepygnochi · 13/04/2021 02:17

Liquid diet - you can lose up to 1.5 stones in two weeks. It's what they put patients on before gastric bypass surgery.

Ddot · 13/04/2021 05:38

Breakfast, banana small, two tablespoons of live natural yogurt, two tablespoons of soaked oats.
Breakfast one egg one slice of wholemeal toast scrap of butter.
Breakfast, porridge sweetened with honey very little.
Dinner, homemade soup
Tea, vegetables x4 slice of chicken
or other lean meat, potato x1
Drink plenty of water, tea, coffee is fine but no sugar and not shop bought coffee.
Treats once a week, you choose day,
one small alcoholic drink, one biscuit or two squares of chocolate. Only one of these mind.
Walk as much as possible, wiggle as much as possible( shimmy) and sex every time you can.
Tape a baby photo to your purse.

Ddot · 13/04/2021 05:45

Sorry forgot to add poached fish instead of meat as alternative. Plus best to do it right if you want IVF to work. Your body needs to be in best form not starved of nutrients. If it takes a month or so longer that's better than IVF not taking. Fingers crossed sweetie. Remember to shimmy and shake. Xxxxx

I had gastroenteritis recently. Only lost 4lb in a week. How disappointing. With Easter and eating normally, soon put two of those pounds back.

SummerWillow · 13/04/2021 07:50

@withmycoffee, very unfair! I basically had diarrhoea for probably more than 10 days and could hardly eat anything at all without terrible stomach cramps. In addition, my father had just died and we were arranging his funeral, so I think there were other factors which helped the weight loss 🙁. I've put most of the weight back on now unfortunately!

Katieeb24 · 13/04/2021 07:59

@bathmatty nope, there were times it slowed down a bit and also I would fall off I never put loads of weight back on I think me falling off helped kick start my fast weightloss again I’ve done this over 3 years now with a baby inbetween each time I stick to it I do lose about 2 stone but I do fall off a lot that’s why it has taken me so long I’m now trying to lose the final stone before my birthday which is May the 3rd so I’m back on it!

withmycoffee · 13/04/2021 08:04
