Will you be spending 3 hours queuing to get into IKEA and another 2 hours trying to pay?

I'm desperate for some fabric so Dunelm or John Lewis for me

Poppystars · 11/04/2021 12:04

I have a shoe fitting slot booked for my youngest child! There were only two appointments left at our local Clarks when I emailed!

I think that will be all my youngest can manage!

hellcatspangle · 11/04/2021 12:05

None specifically but I plan to go into town just for a wander about and sit outside somewhere in the sun for a coffee!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 11/04/2021 12:05

I think I might go in on Wednesday for a bimble about. I’m looking forward to going to The White Company, Anthropologie and Design Vintage. I don’t need anything but anywhere that might lift my spirits sounds good to me!

HeartsAndClubs · 11/04/2021 12:08

None. Nothing I can’t buy online.

And it genuinely baffles me that anyone would want to queue for 3 hours plus to get into Ikea. Nobody needs anything that desperately.

For PP who said they won’t be going in anywhere until they get rid of masks, I think masks are here to stay for the foreseeable future and are possibly even going to become a fixture in e.g. flu season etc.

I’ll actually be surprised if the pubs and restaurants do much business in the next few weeks. The weather is freezing, definitely not dine outside weather. I think that it’s more likely they’ll pick up after the 17th of May assuming the figures haven’t gone up by then and reopening isn’t delayed - which wouldn’t surprise me.

RedGoldAndGreene · 11/04/2021 12:18

I'll be using online for a while longer as I suspect the queues will be insane.

murbblurb · 11/04/2021 12:20

None. I am hoping the supermarket will be quieter as people rush off to all the other places. I've done without stuff for a year, I can wait a bit longer.

MuthaFunka61 · 11/04/2021 12:21

I'm off to our local fantastic indoor Market to the haberdashery stall and later in the week to the garden centre.
I live on my own and've been shielding for over 12 months,my relief and joy is palpable.

onthinice · 11/04/2021 12:22

Clarks. I have an appointment. I'm hoping they're fully stocked in preparation for re opening, as I usually find they don't have any choice of school shoes for DD when I go there at the end of the summer holidays. Hence going on first day before stocks are depleted!

And later in the week M&S so my teen DD can FINALLY be fitted for her first bra (another service that should not have stopped in my opinion).

lubeybooby · 11/04/2021 12:22

Primark & M&S and possibly a few other random places. I wasn't bothered all the other lockdowns, but this time I'm desperate to buy SOMETHING that isn't sodding FOOD

I want to pop in to our local gym as well and check what procedures are and possibly join again. Hence Primark for cheap gym wear til I hopefully fit back into my old stuff.

starfishmummy · 11/04/2021 12:22

None. Even before Covid I only shopped when necessary anyway. And necessary wasnt very often even then.

wheresmymojo · 11/04/2021 12:23

I'm working but next weekend we're planning to go to Guildford for DH to spend Ted Baker vouchers he had for Christmas and to get some lunch (if anywhere has tables outside). Will also get a Starbucks.

Booked a nice dinner for 21st at a lovely pub with a marquee and view over the river Test in Hants.

I've had my vaccine so looking forward to being out and about without being too anxious about it (albeit still following the rules obvs).

PattyPan · 11/04/2021 12:24

None - I wanted to go to John Lewis to look for a new toaster but I’m self isolating Sad

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 11/04/2021 12:24

Next at home and a local carpet shop, keen to get our hone renovation finished

BlueTiles · 11/04/2021 12:24

@Toottootdrivers

Clarks! My DS started walking during lockdown so he needs his first properly fitted shoes. I agree kids shoes should have been considered essential retail. Trying to measure him myself was a nightmare and I'm not convinced I got the right size.
It's crazy - I noticed a sweet shop was allowed to open (because we all need lots of sugar and to get fatter during lockdownHmm) but the good running shoe shop was closed.
Nanasueathome · 11/04/2021 12:25

There’s a new MacArthur Glen opening in Cannock tomorrow, which is fairly near to me
Can’t wait to go but am going to leave it for a couple of weeks until it’s all died down a bit and then go mid week

QuidditchQueen · 11/04/2021 12:27

I am so out of the habit of shopping the I order done baking foil from Amazon last week Blush

Cactusowl · 11/04/2021 12:28

I’m going to walk to John Lewis (about 10 mins from my house) and see what the queue is like- if it’s not too bad I’ll pop in and buy some new clothes.

Kayjay2018 · 11/04/2021 12:28

I must have been really lucky, my daughter started walking a month ago and our local non chain children's shoe shop was amazing. The shop itself was shut so we called and spoke to the owner, she talked through measuring feet, emailed a few styles she had in stock then bought them to the house and did a doorstep fitting and card payment. Amazing service and she now has my custom for the future

wheresmymojo · 11/04/2021 12:29

I also want to go to Jo Malone to swap something I had for Xmas.

I'm hoping since we've been in lockdown since then they will still exchange without a receipt like they would after Xmas usually?

wheresmymojo · 11/04/2021 12:33

@sunflowersandbuttercups

Nowhere, but off to a beer garden during the week for lunch Grin

This is a good call.

Sonofabiscuit · 11/04/2021 12:40

@brogo

Does anyone know when libraries can open? I know they are not shops but I would love to be able to take my little boy to choose some books!
Where I am they can open tomorrow and im excited tone able togo in and pick my own books .
SpaceOp · 11/04/2021 12:43

Have lunch with friend and kids booked and dd and I are super excited because we are shopping for books with Christmas money and also she wants to go shopping to actually choose clothes instead of doing it online or at sainsbury!

We are also planning a little browse in our favourite toy shop.

trilbydoll · 11/04/2021 12:45

I've got a beautician appointment tomorrow afternoon which I've made clear to all my colleagues I am not cancelling under any circumstances!

EveningOverRooftops · 11/04/2021 12:49

The local charity shop. I’ve lost weight. Still need to lose some more so I need a handful of transition clothes as I shrink. I’ve just bought a couple of new proper wrap dresses that I can wear as I lose the next couple of stone but jeans, I need a few pairs and a belt or two.

Also plan a visit to my art store for some supplies and still open, garden centre and tool shop for an axe and some building supplies.

fizbosshoes · 11/04/2021 12:54

I need to get some new school uniform after DDs school sent an arsey letter about uniform standards. As if they havent got enough to think about with testing/masks/quaranyining books/keeping kids in bubbles etc than worrying whether their tights are black instead of navy, if s skirt is an inch above the knee, or if they didnt wear regulation joggers for PE.
