They are keeping Andrew out the way, arent they?

On the bbc news, 3 out 4 of the queen's children wished to say something in tribute to their father...

Andrew is obviously been kept on the back burner. They must know there's only so much the less fawning of us can take.

@Sparklingbrook

I think the BBC are still dealing with all the complaints that The Duke of Edinburgh’s death stopped them watching Eastenders or something. Hmm
@Alsohuman, my apologies it was sparkling brook who made the sneery comment about people watching eastenders .

I find your tone similar to sparklingbrook’s - both of you working hard to downplay , distract and diminish the anger and disgust that many feel about this situation .
@LDom let me just correct that for you ...

He may or may not have had sex with a vulnerable 17 year old girl who was trafficked and used repeatedly for sex with older powerful men and she still bears the psychological and emotional scars to this day.
Well said. Also, it's hardly unusual for men who use trafficked and coerced women for sex to get off scot free. If Andrew faces no consequences that will be entirely par for the course.

Seeing women rushing to proclaim that men are innocent until proven guilty, and condemning anyone for expressing the slightest doubt about an accused man or support for their victims makes me shake my head.

Yes, the burden of proof rests with the prosecutor in criminal cases, but lets not pretend that all abusive men are found guilty and punished (and therefore if a man faces no consequences he must be innocent), because that's just bollocks. Someone can be innocent in the eyes of the law (i.e. not convicted of their crime for whatever reason) while still being guilty as sin.

Remind me again, what's the rape conviction rate in this country?

.......
You're joking, it's Monday now! What a fuss about nothing. I'd have thought there would have been something new to moan about by now.

EE will be on tonight, and Corrie, I'm looking forward to both. However I did enjoy the Prince Philip programmes on Friday night and the one on London Live at 12 today (which was an old one). They are very interesting.

@LDom I can only assume you're now being deliberately obtuse. It's not a fuss about nothing and the fact that you think it is nothing is quite worrying actually.
forfucksakenett · 12/04/2021 14:35

I think overall people have had enough of the Royal Family.

I think it's finished when the Queen dies. Charles will be the last true King and William will remain a prince and then it will be phased out.

CathyorClaire · 12/04/2021 14:45

He's offered witness statements

A rather limited form of the willing help he trumpeted during his interview and undoubtedly a long way from what most of the nation imagined.

VladmirsPoutine · 12/04/2021 14:49

@forfucksakenett I don't think people are even that keen on Charles becoming King. He does strike me as someone who would absolutely walk over hot spiky coals to becoming a monarch tho.

ImpatiensI · 12/04/2021 14:50

You shake your head at the law that says all people are 'innocent until proven guilty'? And ppl aren't 'expressing the slightest doubt' - they're stating that PA is paedophile/predator/guilty by association/shouldn't dare show his face/should be thrown in jail etc etc I instinctively hate that kind of witch hunt talk whoever on the receiving end.

ImpatiensI · 12/04/2021 14:53

I think overall people have had enough of the Royal Family

You can't see outside your own dislike. Plenty of support for them still.

I hope the Q will step down now, she's served the longest of any monarch and lost her husband, she's not got many more years and deserves to enjoy them however she likes.

Once Charles takes over he won't have any softness about keeping PA out of the picture.

JudgeJ · 12/04/2021 14:54

@Roussette

A reporter nabbing him as he comes out of church is a family matter

Hardly
He addressed the nation.

As I said before, he could've just said 'Thank you for your kind thoughts' and left it at that.
He didn't.
He spoke to the people

Had he ignored the waiting reporters who asked him about his deceased father not doubt the same critics would be on their hind legs baying for blood.
Alsohuman · 12/04/2021 14:54

All people are innocent until proved guilty. It’s the foundation of our centuries old judicial system. If it makes you shake your head you might feel more comfortable in France or another country where the opposite applies.

forfucksakenett · 12/04/2021 14:56

@ImpatiensI have you seen how many complaints there were about the coverage of Philip's death? Obviously it proves nothing but it certainly suggests that folk are pretty apathetic about the whole shebang.

Have you seen how many people - many of them relatively young - have unadvisedly gone to Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Windsor to lay flowers and kids’ drawings? How many have posted to the online condolence book? Doesn’t look like apathy to me.

The question that hangs over Andrew is why won’t he help the FBI despite their repeated requests ?

There are photographs and videos of him with the people under investigation . Shouldn’t he be keen to help the police and more importantly, be seen to be helping them ?

Innocent until proven guilty in this context is another attempt at distraction @ Alsohuman.

I mentioned some posters being keen to diminish , distract and downplay . Here is a prime example :

“I bet when it is all thoroughly investigated there will be nothing of note about Andrew. He may or may not have had sex with a 17 year old girl twenty odd years ago.”

Shameful

Roussette · 12/04/2021 15:04

Absolutely 100% not. I have said more than once on these threads... he could have thanked the reporter for asking about his family and moved on. He did not have to stand there and talk to the Press. It seems that the rest of the family are doing a good job of that.

Have you seen how many people - many of them relatively young - have unadvisedly gone to Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Windsor to lay flowers and kids’ drawings?

Like the Dad who dragged his children out of bed at 1am to drive to BP and lay flowers. When the palace have particularly asked people not to.

SelkieIntegrated · 12/04/2021 15:07

Not sure who you are responding to @Roussette but she makes it sound so nitpicky, sure who hasnt avoided the FBI?

Alsohuman · 12/04/2021 15:07

Innocent until proven guilty in this context is another attempt at distraction @ Alsohuman

Try that in court and see how you get on. The ignorance here is shameful and the belief in mob rule.

And, by the way, your half apology for your earlier completely groundless accusation is accepted.

SelkieIntegrated · 12/04/2021 15:08

[sarcasm]

SelkieIntegrated · 12/04/2021 15:08

Alsohuman are you for real?

Roussette · 12/04/2021 15:09

Yes, that statement is shameful. A 17yo who has been procured, groomed and coerced is not just a 17 year old having sex with an older man. She was a trafficked minor, he was over 40. And yes she was a minor because of the offence.

ImpatiensI · 12/04/2021 15:09

No, people don't like their routine disrupted and basic shut-down of state broadcaster to bang on about the same thing for hours and hours, it feels creepy and a bit totalitarian. Doesn't mean they don't want the RF anymore.

SelkieIntegrated · 12/04/2021 15:10

The rest of us, if the police want to question us that is what we have to do. Show up. Answer their questions.

Roussette · 12/04/2021 15:10

Sorry @SelkieIntegrated, not sure what bit you mean! Smile
