Literally having one of those days. Talk talk is down in my area so I'm ploughing through mobile data. But literally EVERYTHING I'm trying to order is out of stock and it's driving me mad! I'm trying to find garden furniture, a bin store, a new rug, clothes for my daughter - it goes on and on!!

Just ranting!!!!!

I'm really struggling to get clothes for my ds 13 who is right in between children's clothes and men's. Nearly impossible to find age 14-15 clothes and it's totally hit or miss with men's xs/ s fitting and being in stock.

Mamamia456 · 09/04/2021 18:26

Laughing at the people blaming Brexit for everything. Pets at home have a shortage of dog food due to so many people buying puppies. This is what they told me when I went there recently.

People have not been able to go on holiday or spend their money on entertainment so of course they will be spending more money on home and garden improvements.

TheOrigRights · 09/04/2021 18:26

I put a Uniqlo dress in my online basket earlier.
Got distracted, came back much later and had been removed from my basket and flagged as out of stock. Some bugger must have actually taken it from my virtual basket! RUDE.

I'll slap them around the face with a wet fish if I see them floating about in my dress.

OhDear2200 · 09/04/2021 18:27

Yes! I was trying to get my mum a birthday present everything out of stock!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/04/2021 18:28

TheOrigRights. We want to see the dress. :)

RogueV · 09/04/2021 18:29

Lead time for a sofabed is around 16 weeks from numerous sites 🙄

Hopeisnotastrategy · 09/04/2021 18:30

Frustrating, I know and I agree, but sadly foreseeable when most of the world are expecting to have to spend time at home and are looking to pimp their garden ride. It's not just us, it's the whole of Europe, etc etc. Rarely are so many people worldwide looking for the same stuff at the same time.

The pandemic has also not helped, with the blockage recently in the Panama Canal a further delay.

I was very relieved six weeks ago to receive a set of garden furniture I'd ordered and it was all intact. It was the last one back then, and I knew there'd be no replacement if it wasn't. We also managed to get a very reasonable second set at JYSK last weekend., maybe worth a look?

At the minute the way things are everybody needs to be a futurologist.

On the plus side, I do see sites with stock coming soon.

dotdashdashdash · 09/04/2021 18:32

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion

It was the same with anything for the garden this time last year.
I'm struggling to get things for the house though. And clothes. And stuff for the kids.

Laughing at the people blaming Brexit for everything.

laughing for no reason is never flattering, I wouldn't recommend it.

Have you even looked at what Brexit meant in terms of import/export for businesses?

The lockdown is a god send to hide the issues around Brexit, not the other way round...

cardibach · 09/04/2021 18:32

@osbertthesyrianhamster

I went to buy some of those rubber/plastic Birkenstocks. Only to find they've over doubled in price since Brexit. Luckily I can get them abroad when I go but yeah, blue passports.
I just went to the Birkenstock website because I panicked - they are the only sandals my hyper mobile ankles can cope with. Everything is the same price on there. £35 for the plastic, around £60-90 for leather, entirely as usual... Brexit is shit, but this isn’t true.
flumposie · 09/04/2021 18:33

We broke our gerbils gerbilarium 2 weeks ago. Pets at Home didn't have any in stock to replace it , the one they usually have is £40. Had to fork out £89 for a replacement at an independent pet shop - more than twice the price and no way near as good Sad

Whitney168 · 09/04/2021 18:34

@Greenvalleysightseeker

Its the same with kitchen appliances, I was on AO direct pricing up appliances for our new kitchen and for EVERY appliance, only one or two out of the twenty or thirty they sell is in stock. Slightly alarming!
Oh yes, this too - also looking for various appliances for new kitchen. Doom.
BluebellsGreenbells · 09/04/2021 18:37

Lots of factories are operating at full pelt, many rely on parts from China. So even if the could open they can’t meet the demands.

Maybe you should stop and think about what governments did perviously by outsourcing these things to other nations, as we aren’t in a position to rely on ourselves.

Stovetopespresso · 09/04/2021 18:37

@Horehound

Yes we are waiting three months for a dishwasher.

Yay Brexit Hmm

omg no really! I'd lose my shiz
Horehound · 09/04/2021 18:38

@Stovetopespresso yeh ..washing up arguments every few days in this house lol.

lanbro · 09/04/2021 18:38

I've just ordered a load of stuff from Argos, all in stock and being delivered this weekend. I got 3 sets of garden furniture from IKEA, in stock, collected the next day. I'm certainly not experiencing out of stocks, and I've always done the majority of my shopping online

Well there must have been a surge in people adopting elderly cats because I’m having trouble getting Felix Senior.
Blimeyoreilly2020 · 09/04/2021 18:41

HRTFT I’m afraid 🙈 so not sure if it’s already been mentioned but in addition to Brexit (which genuinely has caused mayhem in terms of import/export) there is also a bit of a global container shipping crisis (not just the Suez issue) which has been going on a good while - the coast of container shipping has increased astronomically...one supplier I spoke to said a container to ship to UK used to be £14k and they’re currently being quoted £100k so it’s not worth it.... hopefully post COVID (whenever that is!) the issue will resolve🤞🤞

ilovebagpuss · 09/04/2021 18:44

And where is the salad ?? This must be Brexit? The intermittent shortages hack me off one minute Sainsbury’s have all the salad known to man and then absolutely nothing not even one sad tomato.
Why are we still seeing stock issues? it’s just frustrating, our local small Coop is the same one minute it’s stocked like Christmas the next empty shelves post zombie apocalypse.

Nods. Covid buggered the shipping industry. Crews weren't let off ships so weren't available to get on others, ports closed or slowed down offloading, etc. It's been a right mess.

There are few things I want in Argos that are out of stock could get them on Amazon but why pay more than I need to. Food shopping is driving me nuts always things missing from the order.

LakieLady · 09/04/2021 18:51

I managed to buy a new tv the day before yesterday. I had to get it from Currys though, couldn't get one from any of the supermarkets or discount places.

Wbeezer · 09/04/2021 18:52

Rather randomly i have tried for shops looking for delicates/woollens washing liquid, cant get it anywhere. I noticed no gaps on shelves and am wondering if it's part of the range reduction a lot of supermarkets are doing getting rid of less popular products, youngsters don't tend to buy actual woollen jumpers these days...

Cuntryhouse · 09/04/2021 18:52

I couldn't find tomatoes in 3 supermarkets today. Didn't even question why!

Bluebird2021 · 09/04/2021 18:55

for garden stuff you need to go in store (b&q) and buy it to takeaway
