EVERYTHING is "out of stock"

Literally having one of those days. Talk talk is down in my area so I'm ploughing through mobile data. But literally EVERYTHING I'm trying to order is out of stock and it's driving me mad! I'm trying to find garden furniture, a bin store, a new rug, clothes for my daughter - it goes on and on!!

Just ranting!!!!!

Yup I've found the same.
Can't figure out if it's due to covid, brexit, or the container ship that got stuck. Probably a mix of all three.

bitheby · 09/04/2021 17:37

It's probably because all the shipping got stuck in the Suez Canal. Everything from China.

B33Fr33 · 09/04/2021 17:37

We waited 2 months for a part for our washing machine. The warranty company gave up and gave us a new one already in the UK.

iknowimcoming · 09/04/2021 17:37

Garden furniture is stuck in China and at various places between here and there apparently, due to brexit and COVID, it's an actual thing that's been in the papers (I was oblivious to it until I tried to buy garden furniture recently) garden centre manager was like "have you not heard? It's a National shortage!"

Cuntryhouse · 09/04/2021 17:38

Yes, fucking Argos!! I understood last summer with the garden stuff, but I just want a single bed!!!!

SelkieBeag · 09/04/2021 17:38

And it's the same in Ireland, and we didn't vote for this! shops used to be good at taking your money off you. Now they are like the anti-sales team, ''it's out of stock'', ''sorry we don't deliver to your area'', or worse, you order something and then the courier advises you that they are holding on to your parcel until you stump up for the unexpected customs charge.

I'm holding on to my money in 2021. Sick of shopping. I want to just wear out what I have now. Apart from food and coffee.

CovidCorvid · 09/04/2021 17:38

I think garden furniture is because of covid, people are sorting their gardens out to have friends round outside. Try and find a patio person... All booked up. Tesco had garden furniture today though.

Pet food shortages according to assistant in pets at home is due to brexit.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 09/04/2021 17:39

I think this is to do with everyone being forced to buy online since the shops are shut. Getting garden stuff is always tricky this time of year - I remember trying to get paddling pools and trampolines long before Brexit!
Bloody annoying though!

AlohaMolly · 09/04/2021 17:39

This is exactly the reason why DP is doing so well in his new business. He has a tourism business that obviously went to shit last year. By mid June he was working six days a week building sheds/bin stores/decking/fences/gates for people’s gardens because they’re out of stock everywhere!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 09/04/2021 17:40

Pet food shortage is apparently down to people buying lockdown pets.

Fuzzyspringroll · 09/04/2021 17:42

I've just ordered some lovely seating for our garden...and a new swimming pool. The pool was a bit of a problem but that was mostly to do with the slightly awkward space we have available, so it's a bit lower than I had hoped for (DS4 can stand up in it, so that's probably good). It was the only model available with delivery before June but the others wouldn't have fitted anyway.

I get clothes for DS from Ebay or Vinted and that's been fine. We'll be getting a new outdoor rug from IKEA next week.

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 09/04/2021 17:43

Is it Brexit? Is it not the aftermath of the Suez Canal blockage?

I've even tried to find someone to build me a bin store but no luck!

PMSL at people blaming Brexit.

Is Brexit the reason for the rain, and the snow the other day?

Probably to blame for Covid 19 and Prince Philip's death too.

LMFAO!

thebillyotea · 09/04/2021 17:48

Everything is out of stock here

and every non-UK website I have been trying to order from display a message " not accepting orders from the UK due to Brexit" because they haven't got the time or the will to deal with the paperwork.

I am raging.

It doesn't help that everything is restarting at the same time, so everybody is ordering kids clothes.. and there's no stock.

Thank you Brexiters.

WallaceinAnderland · 09/04/2021 17:49

Just as well. Consumerism is bad for the planet Smile

Whitney168 · 09/04/2021 17:49

Knorr fish stock pots - haven't been able to get the bloody things for months now! LOL

Pupster21 · 09/04/2021 17:51

It’s most likely a combination of Covid affecting production, transportation, storage and increased supply of certain products as well as the suez blockage and more recently brexit to a lesser extent.
youmakemydreamscometrue · 09/04/2021 17:51

Try jysk for garden furniture. I couldn't find anywhere with anything in stock that I liked. Managed to order from jysk and it was delivered quickly and it seems decent

Nah, FUCK that. It's still going on just as well all over the place but here, so thankfully there's emigration for some of us who was sick of this nannying bollocks.
OneRingToRuleThemAll · 09/04/2021 17:52

I've noticed this too. I made a large clothes order and one by one I had emails to say each piece was out of stock and therefore cancelled.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 09/04/2021 17:53

Since you are thanking Brexiteers, you can thank us for your vaccine rollout. Without Brexit we'd likely be part of their bulk buying fiasco.
Hmm, what would I rather have, garden chairs or a vaccine...

DuchessOfBuggerAll · 09/04/2021 17:54

@LemonRoses

It’s what people voted for, sadly.
Precisely this and if you think it's not going to get worse you're living in lala land.
AcornAutumn · 09/04/2021 17:55

I've been wondering if Argos are planning to close.

LimitIsUp · 09/04/2021 17:56

@KoalaOok

My local Tesco is out of Marmite
I had the same with Waitrose!
