I would have said it's a bit excessive, but not all-day-hangover excessive.

Aibu to think this???

Would you expect to vomit all day after drinking this much?

I used to be able to drink loads but since about my mid 40s, that amount would make me very sick the next day, I avoid alcohol now pretty much

BertieBotts · 28/03/2021 16:02

I did once, it was really bizarre - had 2, maybe 3 glasses of wine and was awful vomiting all the next day, DH had to drop DC off at a party I was going to take him to because I couldn't move!

I've never vomited for hangovers before or since, when drinking more or less or the same, so I have no idea what happened that one time. I don't think I was spiked. I think it was just one of those things.

Oatgroat · 28/03/2021 16:03

Rioja is very heavy. 1 glass is enough for me, but I could easily drink 2/3 bottle of a lighter red. Could that be it?

RedToothBrush · 28/03/2021 16:03

I'm tiny. 2 or 3 glasses of wine are potentially a problem for me especially if I'm dehydrated.

Hihihi. I'm tiny, too, and I can still dispense with half a bottle of wine very cheerfully. Grin
littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 16:09

To those who've asked, I feel fairly certain I've drunk this much without ill effect before, but I'm wondering what's normal.

My ex used to always have a go at me every time I was hung over (a few times a year) and I'm very sensitive to being hung over as a result, like I have a SERIOUS PROBLEM

Yes, quite possibly. I get migraines with wine and 2-3 day hangovers. I stopped drinking wine completely 2 years ago (two glasses of red and I had a 2 day migraine) and now only drink occasionally but never wine.

also, I'm arguably tiny 47kg and 5'5"

Red wine gives the worst hangovers. It’s something in the ingredients.

ItsMarch · 28/03/2021 16:19

Given your weight and height it might be ‘normal’. Although you ate a meal with it, which for me usually stops sickness with a hangover.
I would probably be sick after that much red as it’s stronger then white (generally) and I’m not used to drinking red.

AWamBamBoom · 28/03/2021 16:20

What's the alcohol %? Is it different to what you usually drink?

babbaloushka · 28/03/2021 16:23

I got the most God awful hangover after drinking wine once. Was sick for two days, couldn't eat or drink anything more than a sip of water without it coming straight back up.

BadMudda · 28/03/2021 16:23

Personally, I would think it was the food and not the wine. Unless the wine was off; it depends how long the wine had been opened for.

babbaloushka · 28/03/2021 16:24

I'm actually not dissimilar measurements to you OP, just a little shorter, so I wonder if that might play a part.
CourchevelCornichon · 28/03/2021 16:25

I think that's quite extreme, it would usually take a lot more than this for someone to throw up the next day! As others have said I'd investigate whether you're intolerant. My friend is and now can't really touch booze at all.

SleepingStandingUp · 28/03/2021 16:26

I drank a whole bottle to myself last night, made sure I took oj to bed with me, woke up fine. I'd be worried of o was vomitting all day on two large glasses

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/03/2021 16:27

I'd vom at the smell.
I hate wine

Nothingyet · 28/03/2021 16:28

One of my five a day. It would just get me started.

Crewtshirt · 28/03/2021 16:28

I've become intolerant to red wine as I've got older. One or two glasses just make me feel ill. I can still drink the fruiter Italian reds but can't even look at anything oaky like a Rioja now. I think it might be the tannins or sulphide that basically make me feel poisened.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 28/03/2021 16:29

Try taking some antihistamine
Both red wine and steak have a high histamine level so you may have had an overload of histamine.
I am sick if I mix champagne and seafood (also high histamine culprits) as I have histamine intolerance.
I also get wheezy and get hives on my wrists.

Ohnomoreno · 28/03/2021 16:29

You have very nice hands.

jellybellybanana · 28/03/2021 16:31

Lol, no. That's an apertif, ffs!

Mmmmdanone · 28/03/2021 16:34

I would feel a bit shit these days after drinking that. (Tolerance v low at age 50- used to be able to drink 3 bottles in a night with friends 😂) My money is on the steak.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 28/03/2021 16:34

This is a bit like food threads were people come and say how little they eat
Except here’s wine, post to inform us you only drink a thimble full of wine annually or you’re teetotal or you hate red wine it makes you gag, scream, bleed from the eyes

Cocopogo · 28/03/2021 16:35

I would be ill all day but that’s why I don’t drink wine at all.
