I would have said it's a bit excessive, but not all-day-hangover excessive.

Aibu to think this???

Would you expect to vomit all day after drinking this much?

I would assume I had food poisoning rather than being hungover

LividLiving · 28/03/2021 15:00

I’ve barely drunk for a couple of years, and red wine doesn’t take much.

I’d be purple puking for sure.

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/03/2021 15:01

No, not at all. Maybe the person has a bug?

Tinydinosaur · 28/03/2021 15:02

Wine makes me sick, not because of the alcohol though, its just gross.

ShrikeAttack · 28/03/2021 15:02

I'd be fine and I drink maybe every 7/10 days.

However when DD was about one, I'd been either pregnant of BFing for 3 years so had nothing more than the occasional small glass of wine. I went out with friends to a clothes-swap, had three glasses of red, and was sooo ill, in a room spinning, hugging the loo and vomiting way.

So if your tolerance is low, it's entirely possible!

Potterythrowdown · 28/03/2021 15:04

2 bottles - yes
2 glasses - no
Was it off? Or food poisoning maybe?

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 28/03/2021 15:04

After a couple of large glasses? No.

That said, I had some red wine recently where I had the most appalling headache immediately after drinking one small glass. The next day I felt horrifically hungover even though I’d had - at most - 1.5 units of alcohol drunk over an hour or so with a meal. I took the bottle back as there’s no way alcohol normally affects me like that.

user64332 · 28/03/2021 15:05

I drink beer, and even if I have a lot, say 4-8 bottles? I never have a hangover. However, everytime I've had more than a glass of wine I've been sick. I think I have a sulphite sensitivity. So it might be the wine itself rather than the alcohol.

littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 15:06

Yes, it was me! I was sick all day yesterday from that much wine (and in fact didn't even finish the last glass) and I was very bemused. I did have a yellow sticker steak with it and I've been drinking less recently, but still, it was a shock.

A couple of glasses of red gives me a banging headache the next day. No vomiting though.

I can drink a whole bottle of white with no ill effects at all.

ScottishStottie · 28/03/2021 15:07

Well 2/3 of a bottle is two large glasses (bottle = 750ml, large glass = 250ml) so no i wouldnt expect to be that ill after two large glasses.

Depends on the person, weight, whether you ate before drinking, time of the month if female etc etc. As well as your own tolerance.

PyjamaFan · 28/03/2021 15:07

I would be very ill if I had even 1 glass of red wine.

On the other hand I can drink lots of vodka and coke and be fine!

littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 15:08

(so wondering if the yellow sticker steak was off?)

I also had zero carbs with it. I'm trying to puzzle out whether it's objectively a lot to drink or there was something else going on.

I don’t get sick even when I’ve had way too much, but half a bottle isn’t all that much (maybe 6 units?) and most adults who drink regularly would be fine if a little fuzzy. Like a PP I would assume food poisoning rather than hangover.

Cam2020 · 28/03/2021 15:08

Probably not sick, personally, but I'd feel worn out the next day. People do have quite strong reactions to certain wines though sometimes.

Corndollie · 28/03/2021 15:08

I have quite a high alcohol tolerance, but if I drank even half a glass of red wine I'd be vomiting all night and well into the next day. I've developed an allergic response to it, my mum and my sister are the same. It's a shame as I love a glass of red, but the only way I can tolerate it nowadays is if I dose up on antihistamines prior to drinking. However I just tend to drink white now.

LubaLuca · 28/03/2021 15:09

I might feel groggy and have a bit of a headache the next day, but I don't think I'd be sick.

It's more likely to be the steak if you felt unwell for most of a day. A hangover, even one bad enough to make you puke, would be petered out by lunchtime.

littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 15:11

Tbh I still don't feel quite right Confused

elsaesmeralda · 28/03/2021 15:12

I can't drink wine. But I don't drink at all anyways as it gives me a hangover while drinking ! I guess being on certain medication, empty stomach etc can all play a part

RiojaRose · 28/03/2021 15:12

The steak could have been off, but if you had salad with it I’d suspect that (unless you washed it thoroughly). Or you could be one of those unlucky people who can’t drink red wine. How are you feeling now? Hope you’re a bit better!

Matilda15 · 28/03/2021 15:12

The only time I’ve ever vomited after drinking that much wine I found out I was pregnant 5 days later.

littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 15:13

Hmmm I did have salad - from a whole head. I rinsed it but didn't wash super thoroughly.

OP posts:
littleloopylou · 28/03/2021 15:14

@Matilda15 sadly, I can guarantee there's no chance of pregnancy!

RiojaRose · 28/03/2021 15:14

Ah cross post. Sorry you’re still not right!

SplendidSuns1000 · 28/03/2021 15:14

The wine or steak could've been off. I find steak and red wine are so rich I often feel a bit queezy the day after having both. Also red meat takes a while to digest so perhaps it was that? Try to drink plenty of water and eat something to get your digestive system working well.
