To presume that drug dealers have moved in over the road?

ChelseeDagger · 25/03/2021 09:56

They don't seem to go to work, have five cars; a range rover, a mercedes, a BMW, an audi and a truck type thing.
A couple in their thirties with one child, renting the property in what is predominantly owner occupied road.

I'm going to get jumped on here, but they look rough, for want of a better word.

Am I being a twat for presuming they are drug dealers or money launderers/something else a bit unsavoury?

They don't seem to go to work

Had it occurred to you that many, many people don't "appear" to go to work at the moment... because they're working from home? You're being incredibly short sighted and really fucking judgmental.

ChelseeDagger · 25/03/2021 11:07

Maybe they have a luxury car rental business?

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 25/03/2021 11:08

Maybe they are renting because they are moving to the area, seeing whether it is for them, and then will sell their old house.

Much as I wish they did not have large cars and assume the father of the household is one with insecurities about his manhood, they are not breaking any law by doing so.

FinallyFluid · 25/03/2021 11:08

Hyacinth is that you ?

ChelseeDagger · 25/03/2021 11:09

Maybe they have a luxury car rental business?

Unless their main customer is Katie Price and she is a rabid fan of a particular football team, I doubt it.

Chelsee I applaud you. Excellent work.

Approximately how old is the child, and does it have its ears pierced? Grin

FinallyFluid · 25/03/2021 11:10

You snooze, you lose, that will teach me to wander off to RL. Grin

ChelseeDagger · 25/03/2021 11:10

Hyacinth is that you ?

Sorry mate, old Bluntness beat you to that one Grin

inappropriateraspberry · 25/03/2021 11:11

I reckon they're lottery winners and are travelling around the country, renting, to see where they want to buy a property/estate. Hence no need to work, and big luxury cars.

Fuckitfuckit · 25/03/2021 11:12

Based on your presumptions of your neighbours, I'm a drug dealer.
You found me out, and even I didn't know!

KylieKoKo · 25/03/2021 11:14

The other day I ran out of my house in a onesie with messy hair to put the bins out at 11am as I heard the bin lorry and realised I'd forgotten to put them out. I had been working from home for 2 hours. I wonder if my neighbours now think I'm a drug dealer.

Mummyratbag · 25/03/2021 11:14

I presume this is all tongue in cheek..but ..perhaps they own a business buying and selling expensive cars? As for the Iceland comment, you can always book a next day slot with Iceland and they deliver fruit and veg not just fishfingers.

ChelseeDagger · 25/03/2021 11:15

Fuckitfuckit

Wonderful, your arrival here is timely!

Would you mind explaining why you have so many cars and are renting a house which is worth less than the total sum of them?

Also WTF is going on with those fillers? I'm sure you would look so much better without them...

Same here - I've lived here for years (renting, natch!) and never realised my Iceland delivery qualified me to deal drugs to the neighborhood - best get stocked up, since I never go out to work as it is (a year WFH now) it could be a very lucrative sideline the actual drug dealers across the road do rent but don't get Iceland deliveries and so are unfairly stealing my customers - any advice to get them off "my patch"
activitythree · 25/03/2021 11:20

Well, no its a WC/LMC area so most people are nurses, teachers/TAs, paramedics, retail staff, postal workers, bus drivers, care assistants, foster carers etc.

Jesus. Did you compile a spreadsheet and go knocking on doors? I only know what job one of my immediate neighbours does, because of her uniform, have no idea what the rest of the street do, let alone the area.

CovidCorvid · 25/03/2021 11:20

@ChelseeDagger

I know I'm being judegemental!

I just don't understand why you would have cars totalling circa 400K when you are renting a house worth roughly half of that amount.

If they appeared well groomed or well spoken I'd definitely be less suspicious, yes I am aware of what that says about me but its true.

But I don’t think that makes sense? If they were wealthy drug dealers who needed a cheap house to sell drugs from they’d rent one out but not live there.

No idea why 2 people need 5 cars. But they could be on finance. Must admit I’m amazed in my village by some people in quite cheap houses with flash new BMWs, etc. But I doubt they’ve bought them outright.

Onairjunkie · 25/03/2021 11:22

@ChelseeDagger

You've taken the time to post a thread, describe the home and cars, guess their value, lots of stuff. Why not have the balls to explain what you mean by 'rough' and 'living a certain kind of lifestyle'?

You want me to describe in detail people who may be involved in a criminal underworld?

Even I'm not that stupid Grin

Does this mean you mean you think they’re travellers? Hmm
RosieRoww · 25/03/2021 11:22

You sounds jealous.😜

mybodyistempura · 25/03/2021 11:24

Travellers?

Freyaismyname · 25/03/2021 11:25

Mind your business! How about that.

RogueMNerKnowsNoShame · 25/03/2021 11:26

Can you advise as to the approximate area, OP, so the rest of us know where to avoid?

I'm guessing home counties???

Or possibly Cheshire?

Iwantacookie · 25/03/2021 11:27

@ChelseeDagger

They also have their groceries delivered by Iceland, not Sainsburys like the rest of us.....
GrinGrin I'm absolutely pissing myself at this. Our local dealer has Asda delivered. Not sure what youde make of him.
RickiTarr · 25/03/2021 11:28

GrinGrin What does “don’t seem to work” even mean?

I can remember when I first started WFH, our the NDN seemed to assume I was a lady of leisure and kept trying to recruit my help with things during the day, but I gave her a bit of a pass because she was very elderly and I though just didn’t understand the tech that let me WFH. I also helped her where I could.

However since then I thought half the world has joined me in WFH this year and last. Presumably you’re not a nonagenarian either, OP, and know all about the interweb?

Being the only tenants in an owner occupied street is also a ridiculous grounds for suspicion. They haven’t bought it up and rented it to themselves, have they? The person who inserted a rental property into your lovely o/o road was their landlord. So unless he is also part of your paranoid fantasy, there is no relevance.

It must be unbearably tragic for you to have to overlook a tenanted property, though. Maybe get therapy for the trauma? Smile

PhilCornwall1 · 25/03/2021 11:32

Must admit I’m amazed in my village by some people in quite cheap houses with flash new BMWs, etc.

Guy on the estate over from where I am baffles me.

Whilst his house is nice (4 bed detached, but a normal one), he has a Bentley Continental GT and a Merc AMG (not sure which one, but expensive) in the drive.
