For example - are terms like LTB sexist?

This thread has to be the worst, most incoherent, thread I’ve seen in a very long time. I have no idea what the op is for, against, asking for or trying to say

HermitsLife · 23/03/2021 19:55

I think OP thinks this is the Argument Clinic

PickAChew · 23/03/2021 19:57
@Pumperthepumper more assumptions. I’m not talking about my DSx. I’m talking about your views on DD’s friend. Your automatic assumption that he must be a misogynist (at age 10!!), and that my DD is a poor, slight, defenceless female.
Alternatively, he could just be a good, old fashioned PITA.

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 19:59

@Pumperthepumper I’m raising her to behave fairly towards all. However, I’m disgusted by the assertion on this thread is that, because she’s had an issue with a 10 year old boy - the boy is automatically a misogynist.

No, people are assuming you raised a misandrist- because of your thread title, your own misandry, your centring of your (male) toddler as a misogynist to avoid being bullied and the work she needs to respond appropriately to a male classmate.

And something about the police.

SachaStark · 23/03/2021 20:03

I think you need to do some reading, OP.

I really recommend “Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men”. Will give a great overview of systemic and structural misogyny and sexism, and it’s pretty accessible for beginners.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 23/03/2021 20:04

You're disgusted? But you've claimed that all women make men feel sad due to misandry and they all hate the police and will bully your son for not being macho. I'm not sure you get to steal offense at the suggestions this boy is a pest because you've said some utterly bizarre and blatantly false things yourself.
Are we all on the same thread here? It's like you think you're commenting on multiple threads, all about different things, but accidentally ended up commenting on the same thread.

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:04

@pumperthepumper?? You think I’m a man hater?

No. I think you’re someone who has raised this children according to gender-specific stereotypes and is now trying to backtrack by pretending that’s the fault of feminism. That’s why you started a thread about your own misandry.

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:07

@Beseigedbykillersquirrels no! I’ve said there is a stereotypical view of men as much as there is a stereotypical view of women. Both are detrimental.

Did you? Oh. I must have missed that point amongst all the shit you've written

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:11

@Pumperthepumper no! I’m doing the complete opposite. DD loves tech/science and has no interest in what would be stereotypical girl pursuits. She spews in the face of a Disney Princess.

OP posts:
FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:14

@Beseigedbykillersquirrels - I’m also not minimising the views others by saying they are writing ‘shit’. Everyone’s entitled to their ‘shit’.

But you’re still worried she shows misandry to her male classmates? You’re still worried if you don’t raise your son as a misogynist he’ll be bullied?

NiceGerbil · 23/03/2021 20:16

' You think I’m a man hater?'

OP you said yourself you feel you need to address your own misandry.

Misandry (not really a thing but anyway' means hating men.

So you said yourself that you are.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:19

@Pumperthepumper no, no, no, NO!! I want her to treat her classmates fairly, regardless of gender, race, class etc. I want my son to be accepted and proud of who he is, and not be compelled to behave a certain way.

By addressing your own misandry?

NiceGerbil · 23/03/2021 20:21

This DD situation.

You are concerned that she doesn't want to play with this boy because he's a boy.

And you don't think it's because he keeps smashing up stuff she builds in Minecraft?

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:22

@NiceGerbil I need to accept my implicit bias towards race/gender/class/age/various groups in society in order to be a better person.

Which is a good thing but sometimes people are arseholes because they're arseholes. That's all there is to it.

I’d start here, if I was you. You want your daughter to be accepting of everyone regardless of how they treat her, but you want your son to be ‘accepted and proud’.

That’s a good base line for misogyny. Start there.

FerrisWheelTrain · 23/03/2021 20:25

@nicegerbil I accept that she may not want to play with anyone male/female who smashes up her Minecraft world. Her female cousins are capable of this too, I don’t want her to assume he smashes up her works BECAUSE he is a boy / or that it’s necessarily gender related at age 10.
