A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola

'Why is there this widespread lack of respect for a prominent female politician on here?'

Oh it'll be misogyny of course. Conveniently forgetting the constant criticism Theresa May got on mn, but that was acceptable because she wasn't a scot nat.

Politicians rarely get 'widespread respect', you must be very naive if you expect otherwise.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 16:42

Well, this isn't MN specific of course, but Johnson was able to push through a Brexit deal just as dire as May's. Wonder why he got their support but she couldn't.

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 16:43

@forfucksakenett

I'll not ask how you came up with it 🤣🙈

There are some great usernames on here. Not to derail but she (or he I suppose) was a prolific Scotnset poster back in the day called wankershacksandthieves.

I occasionally disagreed with her and it was hilarious to write 'well sorry wanker but I just don't think blah blah blah' 🤣

It’s actually a breast pump but I quite like that it’s open to interpretation 👑
forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 16:45

Hahaha brilliant.

forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 16:47

Plus the constant bullshit about Theresa May's shoes was pretty familiar. As was the constant scrutiny about how she greeted and what body language she used with male leaders.

It's is misogyny.

Imagine if either of these women couldn't openly admit how many children they had. Or if either of them had had the police called to a domestic disturbance at their homes. Or if one of them had had an affair while their husband battles cancer ... I could go on.

StoneofDestiny · 23/03/2021 16:59

I am so so bored of this notion that somehow NS has duped people into supporting her. For many people, separation from Westminster is the biggest political issue in their lifetime. Who on earth would they not vote for the party that represents the path to achieving it?

Every thread about the SNP claims that its supporters are under a spell, in some sort of cult, and generally not intelligent.

Every thread someone also posts that you dare not speak out against the SNP as you get to much abuse

Correct.
Don't like her, don't vote for her!

Keep your admiration and support up for the lying incompetent Boris Johnson, who supports the bullying Pritti Patel, who allowed an unelected Dominic Cummings to steer the government through an incompetent handling of the Covid Crisis.
Let Scotland's voters choose its own leader.

YNK · 23/03/2021 18:08

@snowcoveredcampsies

My hope is that Labour get their shit together in an independent Scotland. I would be a Green but the woman issue bothers me.
What on earth could possibly give anyone hope that the LP could have any credibility in Scotland ever again, independence or not?

How now, Brown Vow??????
The deception and deceit of the 'Better together' campaign would take a lot more than admission, apology or assurances to overcome.

Do you have any suggestions how the LP could even achieve credibility again in Scotland?

ssd · 23/03/2021 18:17

I believe there's masses of support for a good strong socialist Labour government up here, with workers rights, the NHS and less privatisation at the forefront. If only we could find a Labour party like that..

I vote snp as I want an independent Scotland, but don't necessarily want the snp in charge.

ssd · 23/03/2021 18:18

Independence is the only way Scotland will get rid of the right wing Johnson Government so many working class in England seem taken in by.

Exactly @ssd
dontsaveusername · 23/03/2021 18:29

My Scottish friends think the sun shines from her rear and all put up posts of love and support. I never comment! The devotion of her fans is rock solid no matter what. Like seriously, someone tells you about sexual misconduct allegations and you 'forget' the conversation?

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 18:46

Of some of her fans. Not everyone is completely undiscerning.

See, this pisses me off. I live in Scotland and vote snp and don't know anyone who thinks the sun shines out her arse. Or post how much they love her on fb. This assumption we are all blinkered sycophants is frankly insulting. And narrow minded and pathetic.

Same as the people who tell you how there was so much trouble up here during the referendum. And how no voters were scared to admit their feelings. Again..I didn't see any of this. My friends and workmates could all discuss it without falling out. Because we're not fucking idiots. But I guess that doesn't make for a good quote, people up here actually getting on, and disagreeing and living and let living.. much better to write how the atmosphere was toxic and folks were living in fear...

As for all the education has gone down the pan..not in my house...I left school at 15, didn't do highers, earn min wage...but my kids have been encouraged and are at a great uni, left a great high school, got a good education and are well rounded decent young men with a social conscience and everything you'd want in a man..

So for everyone desperate to rubbish Scotland, the SG, the schooling and anything else, dont bother. This is a great country.
Apart from the weather, but we can't have everything.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 18:48

The weather was rather good last week.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 18:49

We briefly had it all!

ssd · 23/03/2021 18:49

Yes,for one day Grin

ssd · 23/03/2021 18:51

Thing is, I find the scots can laugh at ourselves. But we don't like anyone laughing at us. WITH us yes, by all means. But unless your own house is in order, keep the sneering to yourselves.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 18:54

Great post @ssd

I don't recognise much of what is described either; families falling out over Indy and Brexit and sycophancy about a bloody politician Confused

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 18:59

I used to respect JOB but he is now lacking the objective critical thinking that made me like him in the first place. He has very much played down the EU vaccine tactics and the SNP’s problems. He held a debate about cancel culture a while back but made the ONLY condition that you couldn’t discuss trans or GC issues. And he has steadfastly refused to examine why the public don’t like Meghan Markle beyond the ridiculous avocado and poisonous flower headlines. He’s showing wilful ignorance over any issue that is problematic to his ideology.

As for Nicola, good luck Scotland - you’ll need it if she takes you out of the UK!

Crikey, something touched a nerve.

The English are better than anyone at being self deprecating and enduring ribbing, thanks to the rest of the UK 😆

ssd · 23/03/2021 19:01

Cheers @Wondermule.
Enjoy endless Conservative governments.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 19:03

It's easy to laugh at yourself when you're the dominant force in a 'partnership'.

When you're the junior part held, in large part, against your will, it's not so easy.

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 19:04

@ssd

Cheers *@Wondermule*. Enjoy endless Conservative governments.
I don’t enjoy them. But that’s not a reason to pretend everything north of the border is so much better. The SNP are a joke. They will never lead an independent Scotland effectively. They’re just in it for the scrap.

I don’t have any dominance over Scotland.

As for against their will, wasn’t there a referendum not that long ago..?
