A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola

How is it bollocks if I haven't seen it? You might have seen different stuff to me, so it won't be bollocks for you. If you get news through social media, as most people do, you're getting served what you're already interested in reading.

WhiskyIrnBru · 23/03/2021 14:57

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'Johnson is probably guilty of the manslaughter of thousands; it's never even discussed in the media at all. He'll never pay for his arrogance and indecisiveness or his cold-blooded 'just let all the old people die and we'll crack on without them' attitude.'

'Never discussed in the media', are you joking?? It is discussed all the time. Maybe you should have torn yourself away from Nicola's briefings and have familiarised yourself with some other news, hmm?

Johnson didn't ever say or imply that old people should die while we 'crack 'on either.

Operation last gasp?!

And I think you'll find he was advocating shaking hands on the day SAGE was deeply concerned and was advising distance.

What was herd immunity if not 'cracking' on with it.

I suggest you stop reading the Torygraph.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 14:59

He also kept on as long as humanly possible as SPAD the magnificent Dominic Cummings who reportedly (although it is denied) had this attitude:

“herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad.”

GetOffYourHighHorse · 23/03/2021 15:05

'He said this'

Exsctly, his 'attitude' wasn't let the old people die and we'll crack on.

All 4 nations have had a similarly horrendous year, with different leadership and different restrictions. Infection rates and sad deaths all pretty similar. Yet Sturgeon's fans make out she is a hero. I've no idea why. Its baffling. Look at other small countries with 5m populations and maybe start doing a teensy bit of critical thinking.

oldshoeuk · 23/03/2021 15:12

Boris can't say anything without people simply reminding him of his failure to sack Priti Patel for breaching the ministerial code.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:13

You're missing the point, that what he said in that quote was, in large part, untruths.

He said we should do what we can now to prevent the spread. Cheltenham took place the following week.

Atletico Madrid played Liverpool 6 days later, despite Spain already being in lockdown.

We know that PPE was not being correctly sourced, we've all seen the reports of care home workers wearing bin bags, etc.

He really didn't want to implement draconian measures, and he's consistently not dealt with this seriously enough, opening schools for one day for goodness sake, just enough to let the virus spread from family to family.

His indecision has been deadly.

But NS has been much more ready to lock down harder, and it's got her nothing but hatred. She says she can't give dates (because you know it's a virus which is unpredictable) and she's accused of playing games and making decisions only to look tougher than Boris. As if she isn't capable of making decisions without considering how this will impact the Tories.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 23/03/2021 15:21

'You're missing the point, that what he said in that quote was, in large part, untruths.'

Oh come off it, you're just backtracking. Rightly so because you can’t back up your 'let old people die comment', but even so don't say I'm missing the point.

Some things did go ahead that shouldn't have, Nike conference in Edinburgh ring a bell?

'How is it bollocks if I haven't seen it? You might have seen different stuff to me, so it won't be bollocks for you. If you get news through social media, as most people do, you're getting served what you're already interested in reading.'

Even if all you manage to read is mumsnet you surely can't have missed all the Johnson threads? He also gets slated all over the msm. So again your silly comment that he isnt criticised in the media while poor Nicola is, is utter cobblers.

derxa · 23/03/2021 15:22

@UnderHisAye

Oh, does feminism mean being bestest pals with all women ever, and never questioning anything any other women says, simply because they have a vagina? Don't be daft.

My drinking comment was a joke. Unless I happen to know Derxa and she does have a day drinking problem then it was clearly a joke...

I'm on my second bottle! You wouldn't blame me with the day I've had. Lamb mix ups, Janey Godley, Nicola's shenanigans and being accused of boring.
OP posts:
UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:28

Lamb mix ups sounds like a chicken starter from the local Indian restaurant Grin

@GetOffYourHighHorse I can't be arsed with this whole line of questioning you think you've got me pinned on. If I had read loads of news articles about it, I would either have said so or not mentioned it. I haven't. So I didn't. Unless you're trying to tell me you know better than me what news I've watched or read, which would be ridiculous.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/03/2021 15:28

You only have to go to Scotsnet to see how angry people are.

Scotsnet is not politically representative of of Scotland.

There are a few very vocal anti SNP posters on there, and everyone else on it just avoids political threads.

MaxNormal · 23/03/2021 15:30

@derxa a year ago I would have vehemently disagreed with you. Oh how my eyes have been opened.

snowcoveredcampsies · 23/03/2021 15:38

@GetOffYourHighHorse I don't understand how you can read what he said and think it doesn't mean let's let old Nd vulnerable people die and crack on.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 23/03/2021 15:38

'I can't be arsed with this whole line of questioning you think you've got me pinned on.'

Aw that's fine, I accept your inability to back up your claim that Johnson is never criticised in the media while Sturgeon is. Just don't fling about nonsense statements if you 'can't be arsed' when someone calls you out on it.

feellikeanalien · 23/03/2021 15:41

I'm not a fan and I'm dreading the chaos that's going to hit if there is a successful Indy referendum. If you think Brexit is bad then you ain't seen nothing yet.

However I think NS has played a blinder with her daily briefings. She also has the good fortune to have Boris in power. I think if the UK had a Labour government at the moment things might be a bit different. I also can't believe how Scottish Labour have become so hopeless.

Having one party rule is never good for any country and I'm interested to see how some have said they will vote for the SNP to get independence but not necessarily after that. Are a group of competent opposition politicians going to suddenly appear once Scotland becomes independent?

We certainly live in interesting (if somewhat worrying) times.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:42

Once again. How can I comment on what I've not seen?

Obviously we read different papers or whatever.

Oh, tell a lie - The Byline Times does, I keep meaning to subscribe to them actually. I follow them on Twitter.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:44

@feellikeanalien good question!

I don't think we have an overly competent cohort nationwide right now, so I don't really think Scotland is any different to WM in that regard. I mean, Johnson's cabinet is rife with ministerial code breaking let's face it.

I am more pro-indy than pro-SNP. I've voted all parties in the past apart from Tory. I imagine I'll go back to that once we have independence.

snowcoveredcampsies · 23/03/2021 15:50

My hope is that Labour get their shit together in an independent Scotland. I would be a Green but the woman issue bothers me.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:52

Me too. I've voted Labour often but they've lost the plot since the days of Lily Madigan.

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 15:52

That’s a really good question and I think the answer is probably, yes.

Independence is such a political hotspot that if the result was an independent Scotland, that agenda disappears. Or at least, is massively reduced. And so would pave the way for (probably, I don’t have a crystal ball) a centerist-left party or a socialist-leaning one to take over.

So now, while there is support for Labour in Scotland (useless as they are) people who are pro-independence can’t vote for them without the reassurance that’ll they’ll try for a second referendum. Which they won’t get. So there’s a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy in Scotland where you’re either pro-independence (in which case you have to vote SNP, or Green) or you’re anti-independence, which means you vote Labour but you vote knowing they don’t have a hope.

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 15:53

Sorry, that’s such a garbled post.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 15:58

No, I thought it was interesting. I do wonder about the post-indy political landscape.

And your username makes me laugh Grin

snowcoveredcampsies · 23/03/2021 15:59

Yes best username on here pumper 🤣🤣🤣

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 16:17

😂😂😂

forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 16:30

I'll not ask how you came up with it 🤣🙈

There are some great usernames on here. Not to derail but she (or he I suppose) was a prolific Scotnset poster back in the day called wankershacksandthieves.

I occasionally disagreed with her and it was hilarious to write 'well sorry wanker but I just don't think blah blah blah' 🤣

User133847 · 23/03/2021 16:34

Why is there this widespread lack of respect for a prominent female politician on here?
