A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola

Get over it, the Union is gone.

Get over it, the Union is gone.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 19:06

The English are better than anyone at being self deprecating and enduring ribbing, thanks to the rest of the UK 😆

They’d have to be. England has made the UK an absolute laughing stock across the world in the last few years. Believe me when I tell you, it’s very hard to argue against independence with the incompetent corruption of the UK government.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 19:07

Oh for gods sake is it like to meant you personally were dominating Scotland?

Yes there was a very close referendum seven years ago, and since then there have been dozens of polls showing that Indy would be more welcome now. Some in recent weeks are dipping again but that's just natural, it'll always go in cycles until it reaches its inevitable conclusion I think.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 19:08

Is it likely I meant

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 19:08

Let’s hope so 🤞🏻

There is no ‘inevitable conclusion’. Opinions will wax and wane over time, today’s opinion isn’t any less valid than next year’s. There’s nothing to say another referendum will be more decisive than the last one!
ssd · 23/03/2021 19:14

I didn't say Scotland is better than England @Wondermule

Don't put words in my mouth

I totally expect the English to love and be proud of their country, and good on them . I'd never criticize anyone proud of where they're from.
Its the comments that were all sycophantic I can't be doing with.

awaynboilyurheid · 23/03/2021 19:15

We couldn’t financially manage without England, we have zero industry a bit of tourism I truly believe like the say , we would be Greece without the sun.
I have yet to hear a decent economic policy from the SNP , so no I won’t be voting for NS. Daily sound bites about the virus when mistakes were made at the beginning does not make me have any confidence in them at all. I hated the division the last referendum caused, I hated the SNP taking over the saltire flag for the yes vote, we told her what we thought, we voted No.
We were promised it was a once in a lifetime vote, it was all lies, they want us to keep voting till she gets the vote she wants.

I didn’t say you said that, nor did I say you are sycophantic. Where on Earth did you get all that from?!
ssd · 23/03/2021 19:17

@awaynboilyurheid, but don't you recognise things have changed with brexit?

EvilPea · 23/03/2021 19:18

English here, but I don’t want Scotland to leave the union. I never describe myself as English but always british so writing that seemed weird.

I don’t think there should be another referendum for a while though. We need the dust to settle with brexit and covid.

Besides the flag would look shit without the blue

It’s one of those scenarios where they will keep demanding referendums until they get the ‘right’ result, which defeats the point of it really. NS shouldn’t have allowed the referendum before the Brexit vote, but I think she was like an excitable puppy, foaming at the mouth at the chance to have a vote.
emmylousings · 23/03/2021 19:19

What bugs me is that the SNP dodge any specifics about post independent currency / border / military / overseas representation / fiscal balancing... and their supporters don't seem to mind! That's without even bothering to look at their record on education and health... Political literacy is obviously just as poor on both sides of the current border. I dislike all forms of nationalism though, tbf.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 23/03/2021 19:20

@Bluebird1234

She appointed James Hamilton to investigate her . His report simply cannot be credible as he was therefore answering to her!
this is not true. James Hamilton was appointed to be the independent advisor on the ministerial code in 2013 by Alex Salmond misinformation helps no-one

We could bump the Welsh up the list and have a dragon on it instead? Throw them a bone to stop them leaving as well?*

*yes I am joking.

They also abstain on powers and hand them over to the Tories, so then they’re not accountable for them. Which is a huge red flag that they don’t have confidence in their own leadership/decision making.

Honestly Wondermule, what’s your issue? Are you annoyed the Scots aren’t more grateful?

Just surprised that a party that claims to want to govern Scotland, hands power back to Westminster. It’s a perfectly valid point but just a little uncomfortable for you, hence the jibes I’m getting in return.
User133847 · 23/03/2021 19:29

@forfucksakenett

Plus the constant bullshit about Theresa May's shoes was pretty familiar. As was the constant scrutiny about how she greeted and what body language she used with male leaders.

It's is misogyny.

Imagine if either of these women couldn't openly admit how many children they had. Or if either of them had had the police called to a domestic disturbance at their homes. Or if one of them had had an affair while their husband battles cancer ... I could go on.

Boris has always been Teflon and never held to any standards.

Except it’s not true - I promise you, nobody here wants to grovel to Boris Johnson. You seem to be over invested in a country that you have no involvement in, what does it matter to you?

EvelynBeatrice · 23/03/2021 19:31

..”but don’t you see that things have changed with Brexit”. Yes, things have changed. Brexit will have a negative effect on our prosperity as trade with the EU becomes more difficult, companies have to bear the costs of compliance with different regulatory regimes etc. Imagine how that effect will be multiplied if Scotland breaks away from its largest trading partner, England! Not to mention the complete shut off of any access to the huge English tax base - there are only 5.5 million people in Scotland whereas there are 9.5 million in Greater London alone.
Covid has also changed things - how on earth will Scotland pay for the ongoing medical care, research and vaccines necessary? The chances of early entry to the EU are minuscule. Scotland will be a poor country. Fine - if you’re an ardent Nationalist and think no cost is too high for independence, then fair enough, but there needs to be a recognition of the economic cost which will be borne by those too old, poor or tied to location to move elsewhere.

berryhead2013 · 23/03/2021 19:38

She appointed Hamilton in 2015 didn't she she didn't just appoint him a few weeks ago to do the inquiry 🤷🏻‍♀️
