A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola

Have you seems the threads on leaving the EU? They surpass all others on volume and entwining of the political and emotional.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 12:09

And the UK was only in from the 90s or 70s depending on how you want to count it.

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 12:09

@UnderHisAye

I do think they've allowed themselves to drift into arrogance and complacency as there's no effective opposition. I would like to see them have to hold themselves to account more.
I agree with this. If we’re blaming anyone for the rise of the SNP we need to look at Scottish Labour particularly.
YNK · 23/03/2021 12:13

Sturgeon doing a number on the English left?

Surely the actions and promises made by the LP itself during indyref spoke volumes - how now, Brown Vow?

The LP don't need Sturgeons help - they did a number on themselves!

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 12:14

How now Brown vow..very good!

Roonerspismed · 23/03/2021 12:15

Scotland is an embarrassment.

A once proud country with a world class education system.

What have we got now that makes you so embarrassed?
Buccanarab · 23/03/2021 12:22

Unionists are an embarrassment. They've spent that long being told their country is too stupid, too poor, to small to succeed alone by their colonial masters that they actually believe it. You'd prefer to stay in an abusive relationship than dare to try and be free. Thank god more and more people are walking away from your view.

The Scottish cringe is still alive and well, I see.

If you've spent your life voting for people who routinely undermine Scottish people and characterise us as money-grabbing net takers from the public purse, no wonder it makes you feel better to think that way.

BiBabbles · 23/03/2021 12:30

Twitter is rarely representative, but I can see the argument that those on the English left who have been pointing to Sturgeon as a role model and what Scotland has been doing as an example, then yes, they might be having some issues right now. I think that is a sizeabe chunk, though I'm not sure it's most of the English left.

I'm not sure it will be a big one - I mean, the reports of backstabbing in Labour don'tseem to have much lasting impact from what I can see. Further right, there have plenty of scandals within the Tories in the last year with corruption in managing things.

I'm not sure what it will take to really shake up British politics, but I don't think any of the scandals have done a real number on anyone.

We seem to have mysteriously gone past the time when people were expected to resign or be fired from the jobs for incompetence, lying, bribery, or anything else really.

It's in no way a good thing, but I'd have been furious if NS had been held to the high standards that the other parties can't be arsed to set for themselves.

JudgeRindersMinder · 23/03/2021 12:34

The Hamilton report is like appointing Tate & Lyle to report on the link between sugar and tooth decay!

AgeLikeWine · 23/03/2021 12:38

Sturgeon is a successful centre-left politician who wins elections and beats the Tories. She also comes across to English people who don’t have strong views about the independence issue as a Merkel type competent, pragmatic leader. And she is undoubtedly a brilliant communicator, in a class of her own in current British politics.

English people on the centre-left would love to have someone with her political attributes as leader of the Labour Party, which is why they admire her.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 12:42

It's a crying shame that they'd never elect a Northern woman, Jess Philips would take BJ apart at PMQs.

Instead they've elected someone who looks the part but seems to be a cardboard cutout instead of a man with convictions or any burning desire to lead.

That’s what happens in politics when there’s no opposition. It happened in the Tory party between the 2015 & 2019 elections when Corbyn was Labour leader. They knew he was so utterly useless as to be no threat to them, so they fought a civil war over Brexit, safe in the knowledge that they would stay in power whatever happened.

I agree.

But at least this thread hasn't descended into the usual Nipoleon comments. Not yet, anyway.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 12:51

Thank you.

The worst name I saw someone use was Nitler. Fucking Nitler. You may dislike the woman but she hasn't systematically tried to commit genocide.

The hyperbole that surrounds the SNP is astounding. But anyone pro SNP gets branded a cybernat Confused

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 12:54

Yet noone has said these things on this thread yet.

No hyperbole here at all.Wink

derxa · 23/03/2021 12:59

@UnderHisAye

Why did you even bother with this thread *@derxa* it's just ramblings. You've not even bothered your arse to learn anything. How bored (and boring) you must be.
Believe me I'm not bored. I've just wrestled three sheep into pens with their lambs, iodined them, fed them etc etc. I'm beyond tiredness. I didn't realise all threads had to be thrilling or even cogent. I was a great fan of NS one year ago but I realise it was a con. Everyone else was conned as well You only have to go to Scotsnet to see how angry people are. I remember the Scottish Labour rotten burghs and now it's the SNP doing the same.

Not really relevant to your specific point on labour commentators derxa but I was impressed when they clamped down really quickly in Aberdeen but then the SG seemed to bottle it in Glasgow.
Maybe they just knew they couldn't control it there? Anyway that was when rhetoric seemed to part company with reality for me at least.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 13:08

No, I didn't claim they had, I was talking about the, oh, dozens of other threads.
UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 13:09

Cogent would be a better starting place than basically posting a thread title and not much else though Confused

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 13:10

Och let people chat. Where's the harm?

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 13:13

People do seem to become flavour of the month on Twitter or other parts of the media. And sometimes I wonder how!
