A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola

It's maybe more appropriate to compare the threshold for resigning with previous Scottish First Ministers or Scottish political party leaders.

Sundances · 23/03/2021 10:43

When they were initially in goverment the SNP were a minority government. They were one seat short of a majority. The fact that they have gone from that to the position they are in is surely the fault of the opposition and to blame the SNP for it seems odd.

Well Labour are a busted flush down south, but I can't see they deserve to be so much so north of the border.
They are so many of their former seats are SNP

Chocolateandamaretto · 23/03/2021 10:44

The English left isn't her problem!

PersonaNonGarter · 23/03/2021 10:44

Johnson is probably guilty of the manslaughter of thousands

Did you know @UnderHisAye that you can actually bring a court case against Boris if you believe this?

gottenhaitch · 23/03/2021 10:47

Yawn. Another week another Nicola thread.

derxa · 23/03/2021 10:48
@derxa what’s the issue with the English left though?
Ah you could be right I thought pp meant Scottish Labour, as far as the UK PLP I think many factors contributed to the epic 2019 loss but the cult of personality around Corbyn

I meant UK PLP, and Blair as the personality. I'm obviously shite at making myself understood!

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 10:53

@derxa ah come on, this is a wind up now. What specifically is the issue with the English left?

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 10:53

I'm sure I could but having neither the time money or expertise I think I probably won't!

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 10:54

Why did you even bother with this thread @derxa it's just ramblings. You've not even bothered your arse to learn anything. How bored (and boring) you must be.

I agree 100% with you, honestly its probably my reading comprehension that needs looking at tbh Grin
siyhack58342 · 23/03/2021 10:56

Lol this thread is such a wind up! But quite revealing about how some ppl must think, like just half thoughts strung together based on various prejudices

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 23/03/2021 10:57

@UnderHisAye Priti Patel broke the ministerial code and was not sacked because Boris Johnson decided to overturn the verdict.

Theresa May by contrast sacked Damien Green who was a long time friend and ally.

SylviasMotherSaid · 23/03/2021 11:00

Her supporters are completely blind to her faults and can’t understand the function of the opposition is to scrutinise her . Very Trump like in their refusal to accept the results of votes that don’t go their way .

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 11:07

That's your assumption @SylviasMotherSaid

Maybe they see her faults and, being sentient adults, weigh up the good and bad then make an informed decision about their vote.

That's what pisses me off: the arrogant view that if you vote SNP it's because you're too thick/blind/stubborn/closed minded to do otherwise.

I don't think that about voters of any other party, and yet it's levelled at pro-SNP people all the time. It's so, so boring.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 23/03/2021 11:08

@SylviasMotherSaid

Her supporters are completely blind to her faults and can’t understand the function of the opposition is to scrutinise her . Very Trump like in their refusal to accept the results of votes that don’t go their way .
Or some are so entrenched in their unionist views and dare I say misogyny to be able to give credit to the leader of a small political party which has become the most powerful political force in Scotland and instead feel aggrieved by her actions and ignore the populist right wing government who illegally shut down parliament and are busy selling off the UK
SylviasMotherSaid · 23/03/2021 11:16

The only party with misogynistic views in Scotland are the SNP with their hate crime bill which takes no account of crimes against women .
It’s funny how the only defence of the SNP fans can muster is to criticise Westminster surely if you all care so much about having high standards and no corruption you would want a party in Scotland which is better than that .

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 11:19

I do not support the HCB or the SNP's approach to women.

However, I believe independence is best for Scotland in the short and long term future.

So I'll vote SNP until we get there, and then in the general election that will be called, I'll look around and see who I want to give my vote too.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 11:20

Also - the Greens and Labour supported the HCB so they are not the only misogynistic party in Scotland. The Greens probably get the badge for that really. It's an entire shitshow.

ExConstance · 23/03/2021 11:33

Now Boris Johnson did break the ministerial code and was not held to account for it. Of course it is the Tories who are complaining the most about Nicola who I have always found very impressive. In media interviews she always answers the question put, she has managed Covid much better in Scotland than our government has and has to put up with a load of unpleasant abuse. I'm afraid that our government with the crony PPE deals, the Robert Jenrick planning stuff etc. etc. etc. have far more to answer for.

BilboBercow · 23/03/2021 11:43

I'm not a fan and the entire debacle has made the SNP look incompetent at best.

However NS didn't appoint James Hamilton to investigate herself. Alex Salmond, as First Minister appointed him to investigate potential breaches of ministerial conduct. Salmond himself said that he had no reason to suspect he wouldn't do a good job.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 11:48

I do think they've allowed themselves to drift into arrogance and complacency as there's no effective opposition. I would like to see them have to hold themselves to account more.

Thatwentbadly · 23/03/2021 12:00

“ There is too much to say. She's placed herself as some sort of Jacinda Ardern when in fact the Scottish care home deaths have been shocking.
The whitewash report... it's all too much.”

Are the Scottish care home death any worse than England’s or Italy or Spain?

It’s a bit strange to start a discussion but then refusing to actually discuss it. I’m wondering what was the point of you starting this thread.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 12:02

From what I can see on MN @Thatwentbadly there is no hatred that surpasses that of the SNP. I guess that's why start the thread.
