A white wash report. Misuse of public money. Shower of incompetents in SNP government. Rotten education. Using covid as a political tool.
I could weep for my country.
Yet people like James O'Brien continue to arse lick Nicola
@ClarkeGriffin

You’re welcome down here mate. Just bear in mind your prescriptions will cost you and houses cost an absolute fortune. If you have kids they’ll have to pay university fees, and you will be solely ruled by Westminster - no devolved government to stick up for you. Oh and we have nobody to bail us out for free if our finances go off a cliff, we would probably have more austerity or something.

But apart from that, we definitely live the high life off of Scotland, and have no idea what it is like to be undermined and shafted.
Meh nowhere is perfect sadly. I just can't live under sturgeons rule. She'll no doubt name herself queen of Scotland.

gottenhaitch · 23/03/2021 21:59

@Wondermule you seem really agitated about something you claim to not care about.

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 21:59

@forfucksakenett

We'll be just fine *@Wondermule*
Well you weren’t fine when it came to developing a covid jab, raising enough income tax or financially supporting your own universities Hmm
@JustAnotherPoster00 wipe the dribble off your chin and start again.
Eh?

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 22:01

I can’t believe I’ve got this far without a single mention of how an independent Scotland would actually work 😂😂 it’s a joke, and confirms my initial thoughts!

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 22:02
@Wondermule you seem really agitated about something you claim to not care about.
It’s the backlash of being repeatedly shafted by a government who doesn’t give a shit about what happens to you or your children. Wondermule is pretending that’s because of Scotland or that Scotland has it easy or something, but it’s essentially the same hymnsheet.

And ultimately Scotland has a way out that England doesn’t - unless more people climb on board the English independence movement. So while I’m angry at the way Wondermule has been insulting on this thread, I understand the frustration that feeds it.

forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 22:02

@Wondermule whipping yourself up into a weird frenzy of hate isn't going to be good for you. If you can't manage a rational conversation why don't you go and have a wee lie down.

YNK · 23/03/2021 22:03

This is a hilarious thread! Grin

It seems to me that we are all singing from the same hymn sheet in support of Scottish independence!

Wondermule · 23/03/2021 22:04

Wondermule is pretending that’s because of Scotland or that Scotland has it easy or something, but it’s essentially the same hymnsheet.

Scotland has had it easy, compared to us.

But no, I blame the Tories for all the ills of the last decade. Not Scotland.

Being under Tory rule is bad, but jumping off a cliff to get away from them is worse.

There is such a thing as nuance. It isn’t just SNP v Tory. And anyone that thinks it is are probably not bright enough to debate with.

Why is it worse? Labour is finished, who is the Tory opposition in England? You have to just wait until someone better comes along and that could mean decades more Tory rule, for you.

Hate 😂😂 think you’ve got the wrong person mate, someone was ranting about ‘pathetic little islands’ upthread.

So what I’ve learned before I go to bed:

When you cannot refute a point about the SNP being shite:

 1. Ask the poster why they care so much
 2. Shriek something about ingratitude
 3. Point out the Tories are shit, even if they agree
 4. As a last resort, accuse them of ‘hatred’, while hurling insults at them

It’s been an amusing chat, and confirmed my suspicions - the SNP is a load of crap, but independence innit. Good luck guys 😎

forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 22:08

Your two wee thoughts are probably pretty lonely in there @Wondermule bouncing of each other.

How does any small independent country work?

Taxes
Exports
Tourism

Malta, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, New Zealand... all seem fine.

Are you an economist? There were plenty kicking around in 2014 that thought we'd be just dandy. They will crunch the numbers again for the next indyref and then maybe you can get more specific answers then.

gottenhaitch · 23/03/2021 22:09

" Ask the poster why they care so much"

But why do you care so much though

Pumperthepumper · 23/03/2021 22:10

You missed ‘read repeated insults about England being the parent and Scotland the annoying teen from someone who is so frustrated with the inward-looking, xenophobic government they’re stuck with they have to blame someone other than themselves’.

YNK · 23/03/2021 22:13

Oxford/AstraZenica
A local vaccine for local people, hahahaha Grin

Selkiesarereal · 23/03/2021 22:16

wondermule please do not do a disservice to the wonderful scientists of many nationalities and in labs across the UK working collaboratively with Oxford to help develop the Astra Zeneca jab. Your ignorance on this matter is not helpful.

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 22:18

@Wondermule

The problem is that SNP supporters don’t seem to be able to give any good reasons why independence would be practically good for Scotland, beyond ‘INDEPENDENCE!!’

When you ask, or try to engage in discussion, they mud sling and throw stuff back about the Tories (even if you didn’t vote for them and disapprove of them just as much!)

Ok, here's my reason.

It's basically down to a democratic deficit. My vote doesn't count in our national parliament and never will due to sheer numbers. So I'd like a Parliament where my vote will translate into something real; where my MP isn't laughed at merely for standing up to speak.

I don't think the UK as it stands is democratic; I would like to live in a smaller country where the elected officials have close ties to the communities that elect them. I'd also like to try to get back into the EU.

There's, that's my reason. Not party political, but political. I can paint my face blue and shout it if that would support anyone's stereotype.

ssd · 23/03/2021 22:18

I hope nicola sturgeon is on mn..she'll be paying @Wondermule to get her up here pronto

5 minutes of her views would convince the most rabid of no voters Grin

UnderHisAye · 23/03/2021 22:23

@Wondermule

May I also point out it was England that developed the AstraZeneca that Scotland is currently benefitting from very nicely 👌🏻

Quick to take that benefit, weren’t you? Why didn’t you patriotically wait for one of your universities to develop a vaccine, and support your own? Given England is so awful?

Most obtuse post of the thread award 🥇
MrsFin · 23/03/2021 22:25

The only way she could "do a number on the English left" is by taking Scotland out of the United Kingdom. If Scotland leaves, Labour will never win a general election again.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2021 22:25

@GetOffYourHighHorse

'For many people, separation from Westminster is the biggest political issue in their lifetime. Who on earth would they not vote for the party that represents the path to achieving it?'

Well, just as well you weren't separated from 'Westminster' before the vaccine roll out eh?

'it's that she has shown her face every single day and answered an hour of journalists' questions live on TV. She has looked present and thoughtful throughout, whereas her WM counterpart has often been posted missing for weeks on end.'

She has used the pandemic as an opportunity for her daily party political broadcasts. She isn't a news presenter she should have reduced her TV shows to a weekly one once the situation improved.

Have you ever heard of change management? Excellent communication by the most senior person is the gold standard of change management. She’s following the handbook of how to handle disasters, and all credit to her for continuing to do it regularly for an entire year.
forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 22:26

@UnderHisAye yes very obtuse!

I think maybe @Wondermule should send their telly, phone and fridge back up the road if we're going to start to get nationalistically possessive over inventions 🤣

forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 22:28

@MrsFin

Do you know that's the one thing that makes me hesitate over independence. It's not a nationalism thing for me its a class thing really and I feel that if we secure independence we are taking away the chance of a left leaning UK government.
forfucksakenett · 23/03/2021 22:28

But then maybe not. We are so few votes in the grand scheme of things.

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 23/03/2021 22:29

MrsFin I did wonder if that was the gist of it.
