If I don't laugh at myself I'll probably cry.

I had my hair done in October 2019 with the idea of getting it done again in early spring 2020 ready for the summer, well that didn't plan out obviously and now another 12 months have passed and I look like Brian May.
Anti-frizz serum is useless at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only person who looks ridiculous.

BobsDouble · 22/03/2021 13:13

Alright. I had it cut too short last summer so I’m growing it out.
Had the ends trimmed before lockdown started.

My hairdresser isn’t reopening after lockdown because they say that that they can’t make the business viable with all the covid restrictions.

picklemewalnuts · 22/03/2021 13:14

Fabulous! Never have I been so pleased to be low maintenance! I wash with henna, which gives it a bit of shine and brightness. I don't cut it, use styling product in it, or dry it. The less you do to your hair, the less you need to do.

Els1e · 22/03/2021 13:14

Mine looks like grandad in Mrs Browns Boys. Just hangs around looking sad. ☹️

Karmatime · 22/03/2021 13:16

Pretty awful, it’s a grown out bob and the back has grown faster than the front so it looks like a pageboy from the ‘70s.
It’s had 3 or 4 lots of box dye since the summer and it’s due again but I’m living with it until April as the box dye leaves it looking flat and block coloured. So basically it’s a weird shape, dried out flat coloured ends and lots of frizzy grey sprouting at the roots. Lovely.

Nnameechanged · 22/03/2021 13:16

I don't dye my hair and usually only get it trimmed about twice a year anyway, so it looks pretty much the same as usual.
I'll probably book to have it trimmed maybe a few weeks after the salons reopen and the initial rush has died down.

couchparsnip · 22/03/2021 13:18

I can see my natural mousy brown colour for the first time in years. I have enough of it now that if I cut all the blonde off I would have a reasonable short do in brown.

At the the moment the blonde bit looks like straw and I have taken to wearing bobble hats.

weegiemum · 22/03/2021 13:20

Yep, I look like Bill Bailey, without the receding hairline.

Haven't had it coloured for over a year now and I'm actually quite liking the bit of grey through it (I'm 50), not as bad as I hoped. Had a trim in the autumn when hairdressers were briefly open, and dd1 had trimmed it, but it's not horrifically long. It's the frizz that's getting to me!

TroysMammy · 22/03/2021 13:20

I last had mine cut September 2019 with the same plan as the OP. My hair is one length, straight and quite a good condition but I'm starting to resemble Rapunzel. but

What makes me look, as someone above said Neil from the Young Ones, is that I don't really bother with lipstick because of masks so I look like the corpse version of him.

geezahoose · 22/03/2021 13:21

Mine looks shite. Managed to trim off some frizzy dry ends but now it's all uneven at the back and hairdressers are booked solid.

MadisonAvenue · 22/03/2021 13:22

I had mine cut at the beginning of November and up until a few weeks ago it was okay but then it seem

WeAllHaveWings · 22/03/2021 13:23

Last hairdresser cut was January 2020 last colour would have been December 2019. It is normally coloured a warm brown.

dh is too scared to cut it, so ds(17) has trimmed for me twice now.

I am now grey at the front, quiet a lot of it (fringe and sides) and I like the way it has come in and the shade of grey. My hair is quite fine/flat and the wiriness of the grey gives it a bit of volume and it sits nicer at the front.

But at the back it is mostly my natural colour (dull dark brown/black) with a smattering of wirey untamable greys that won't straighten. It has been a good time to experiment for a year without colour when most people are in the same boat, but I think I will need to get it coloured again before returning to work etc.

I agree I think it's outrageous that personal care has been taken away.

I am a bit more upset I lost my mum to covid and my SIL is suffering with liver problems due to covid. There will be other people reading your comment who have lost loved ones. My sincerest condolences for the temporary impact on your hairstyle Hmm

Why didn't you get it done after the end of lockdown 1?
DobbyTheHouseElk · 22/03/2021 13:26

I haven’t had my hair coloured since Feb 2020. It’s now my natural colour which is a surprise. I thought I was much fryer than I am. So I’m now almost black which is natural with a very small amount of grey.

It’s softer and feels better than it has in a long time. It was cut last in October, but It’s ok.

Aprilx · 22/03/2021 13:27

Mine is pretty good in terms of condition and style is not too bad either as it is varies anyway between just above shoulders to a few inches below shoulders. But I would love to get my roots touched up! My last appointment was mid December just before everything closed again so it will be four months / two inches of growth.

MadisonAvenue · 22/03/2021 13:27

Posted too soon

Then it seemed to hit a point where it needs cutting and it’s been horrible since. It’s thick and grows quickly so the bob I had cut in December is now hanging around my shoulders with the ends curling up.
If I straighten it, it looks like it needs doing again after a few hours.

I have an appointment for 10.30am on April 12th. It’s so wrong that salons have been closed for so long. I’ve felt safer at the salon that anywhere due to the measures they’ve put in place.

Frogella · 22/03/2021 13:27

Grim. I look like a fat Iggy Pop.

HerbalTeaz · 22/03/2021 13:28

Like shit. Unless I freshly wash and straighten it every day, it’s a mess, layers grown out, greasy dark roots, awkward length, just horrible. Got my appointment on the 14th, absolutely buzzed

emmathedilemma · 22/03/2021 13:29

Like it always does! I don't have it coloured and it's usually tied back. I foresaw another lockdown coming and had a good trim just before Christmas even though it didn't particularly need doing at the time. It'll last me another 2-3 months.

RolloTomassi · 22/03/2021 13:29

LOL yes to Iggy Pop!!! Flat to my head and roots galore.

Biscuit9224 · 22/03/2021 13:32

Me too. Had my hair done in early Jan 2020 with plans to get it done again during the spring like you and obviously covid happened. There had been opportunities when they’ve been open but they are so busy and I struggled to fit in so yes no hair cut for 14/15 months here.

It’s so long and I’m really starting to get peed off with it this week. I need it chopped off.

It’s all my natural colour as been for a few years so colour isn’t an issue. It’s just so long, frizzy and heavy! It gets tangly so easy too! It’s not in terrible condition I don’t think. Just long and annoying and naturally very fine but lots of fine hair so quite thick.

movpov · 22/03/2021 13:32

Not too bad considering...i squeezed in a cut & colour on Xmas eve, rescheduled from 5 Dec during the pre Xmas lockdown. It's now longer than I usually have it, which I quite like so I'm only planning on having about an inch off but it does need tidying, layers trimmed etc. I can see a lot of grey coming through but as I'm blonde It's not really too obvious to others. First lockdown I gave in about halfway through & did a home colour which was ok but I'm hanging on this time, can't be bothered with the faff. Instead I've treated myself to a couple of nice shampoos & conditioners and focused on keeping it looking healthy and shiny. Hairdresser is working their way through the regulars for bookings in April so I'm just waiting for a call.

I have noticed on work calls, the men more than women, some have either just let it grow to resemble a mop, or taken the clippers to it and now look like skinheads! A good few have grown beards too.

It is a shame hairdressers & barbers have had to close as they have worked hard and spent a lot of money to make things safe, and these things are linked to people's wellbeing. Hopefully when they finally open they can stay open for their own livelihoods as much as our wellbeing.

Popcornbetty · 22/03/2021 13:33

Had mine last cut October 2020 so it's been a good 5 months now. I will be booking in when they reopen. Split ends and it feels flat and boring!

ZombeaArthur · 22/03/2021 13:34

My hair’s currently looking the best it ever has. Last year I had to grow out a very short, drastic style which fortunately didn’t look as bad as I’d expected. Since then I’ve had it cut into a bob which is now all the same length and I’ve also switched from full bleach to balayage so my roots don’t look bad.

I’ve made a real effort to take care of my hair this year and it really does look better than ever. Fewer trips to the salon over the last 12 months have allowed it to grow and I think I’ll go less frequently going forward too.

Dobbyismyfavourite · 22/03/2021 13:37

@Chottie thanks for the laugh!

With only one haircut in lockdown I have never had so many split ends, thanks hair straighteners.

Daytimetellysucks · 22/03/2021 13:38

I’ve got roots down to my ears and it’s so long.

I’ve never let it get this long before but I might keep it, I like it and it actually looks quite healthy - I always kept it just below my shoulders as I thought it got quite ratty but it hasn’t

It needs a tidy up and the roots need sorting out

DH’s hair has just got huge - his hair tends to get bigger rather than longer.
