How's your hair looking?

If I don't laugh at myself I'll probably cry.

I had my hair done in October 2019 with the idea of getting it done again in early spring 2020 ready for the summer, well that didn't plan out obviously and now another 12 months have passed and I look like Brian May.
Anti-frizz serum is useless at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only person who looks ridiculous.

I gave myself an under cut last April as I was too hot. Its now 3 inches long and sticks out from underneath the rest of my hair. What. An. Idiot.

likeamillpond · 25/03/2021 13:20

@LunaNorth

Here you go,
You have lovely hair. But then again red heads generally do. I read somewhere that if you have red hair you are lucky because the strands are thicker and there are more of them than other hair types So having nice hair is effortless. It will look thick and it will look will look nice. Bet nobody posts photos of their hair looking fine, thin, bushy or horrible Hmm
montysma1 · 25/03/2021 13:38

I got my husband to chop mine a couple of weeks ago into a sort of bob thing. I just had this overwhelming urge to get rid of it as it was in horrible condition.
Now I am over the shock I really really like it! It's funky!

Last March my husband got me to scalp him with the dog clippers. On the shortest setting.
Hideous.... He has a truly gigantic face we found out.

Unfortunately he liked it and is now pressuring me to do him again. He looked like a thug/nazi/scary action man for months......

LunaNorth · 25/03/2021 16:30

Thank you - tbh it’s a bloody nuisance! Having to grow it long has been a revelation, as the extra weight calms it down a bit.

It usually just does as it likes and has to be wrestled into submission.

LunaNorth · 25/03/2021 16:45

What a windy day can do Grin

Mine's OK, just a longer version of itself. It is fine and very straight though, so just grows down not out.

Parkerwhereareyou · 25/03/2021 21:18

No really, something has happened to mine ... something very good. Maybe it's all the Vitamin D?!!

It's grown longer ... it's all shiny ... I've realised I don't need to pay £28 a bottle for shampoo because £6.99 from one of the brands in Boots gives as good/better results ... it feels so sexy. I love it. I guess it has to be cut but ... currently loving it.

I supposer it's ok if your hair started out long. Short to bob not by choice is a problem. Has anyone tried You Tube tutorials and got their DPs/Kids/whoever else is 'in a bubble' ; ) helping them??

Parkerwhereareyou · 25/03/2021 21:19

I mean You Tube hairdressing tutorials ...

LAgeDeRaisin · 25/03/2021 22:42

I look like that throwback to when Golum was a hobbit.

No haircut plus post-pregnancy fall out/regrowth. DH is a lucky man.

Emmelina · 25/03/2021 23:32

A frizzy mess from the ears down. I don’t do anything fancy with it, but it’s very fine, so you can imagine what lack of professional maintenance has done to it! I’ve taken to wearing it in a plait for work just to give the illusion it’s neat!

Camomila · 25/03/2021 23:37

Mines fine, I cut it myself even pre-pandemic (have never found a good English hair dresser for curls).

DS2 looks ridiculous, he has a puffy bob hair cut with a short fringe but I am too scared to cut it in case he moves (only 14m)

BurgundyBells · 25/03/2021 23:37

Mine is in the best condition it's ever been in.

I used to blow dry and straighten it nearly every day. Lockdown and WFH has stopped that stone dead Grin

All I do now is wash it and let it air dry. No heat styling for a year has done it the world of good.

BurgundyBells · 25/03/2021 23:41

Could have written this! Dh has spent a few months of the last year looking like he's escaped from a cell somewhere. But he won't abide long hair so would rather have a number 3 all over, convict stylee. I hate it!

Thisseatisnotavailable · 25/03/2021 23:43

Mine is looking quite good as it goes. Turns out my 16yr old dd is a pretty good hairdresser.

TawnyPippit · 25/03/2021 23:45

Mine is awful. It’s usually an expensively dyed pixie cut, done once a month. It’s extremely thick, so has to be aggressively chopped into, and pretty much grey.

It now looks like I’m wearing an ill-fitting raffia hat. DH has cut it a couple of times with his clippers, in the back garden, with the sensitivity and finesse the French resistance showed to women fraternising with Nazi officers. After that I looked a bit like Kim Jong-Un on Zoom calls. I bought a double pack of hairdressing scissors and thinning scissors from Amazon and “aggressively chopped” into the bulk. I’ve also been slapping on the box dye. I now look like a dead ringer for the guy from Pimlico Plumbers.

[Hmm]

Stroller15 · 25/03/2021 23:54

I'm going grey so quickly now, and my hair has been box dyed so many times - there's such a build up of colour on the ends, so i end up with 10 different shades. It looks horrible in person. I bookek my hair appointment just today, so good to have that to look forward to! Extreme makeover Lockdown Edition.

EternalOptimist7 · 25/03/2021 23:57

The longest it’s ever been! Which would be ok but it’s fine hair plus thinning even more with the dreaded menopause so it’s not the most flattering style. DH has been colouring it for me which is good. Hoping to return to a darkish red next time.

BadMudda · 26/03/2021 06:32

I love this thread...

It needs to go into classics cos some
of these comments have me
roaring.

Fwiw... mine is awful. Frizzy, split and terrible.

Oh Pippi you just made me laugh sooo much 😂😂😂😂👌

Dh looks like a cherub with a mass of silvery curls, adding about 4 inches to his height. Bastard. 😀
I look like a crone.

CSIblonde · 26/03/2021 10:51

I overcame my fear of home dye in lockdown. I now have Clairol Baby Blonde roots & Hairdresser different colour blonde ends. Still looks better than greasy dark brown roots I had! Revlon hairbrush combi drier has been a revelation tho! Professional blow dry in 10mins!

KatyaZamolodchikova · 26/03/2021 10:57

Mine looks like I’ve sprayed dry shampoo all over my roots but not brushes it through. Not actually grey but grey enough to look a bit dusty. I chopped my fringe myself last week because I couldn’t see anymore and it’s still too long really but I don’t dare take it any shorter. The rest is just a thick wavey mass.

FatCatThinCat · 26/03/2021 11:00

Mine looks amazing from a distance. It grows so fast so is now waist length, auburn ringletty curls. But close up it's full of grey, especially around the temples.

LesLavandes · 26/03/2021 11:00

I look like Noddy Holder in the 80s.
