How's your hair looking?

If I don't laugh at myself I'll probably cry.

I had my hair done in October 2019 with the idea of getting it done again in early spring 2020 ready for the summer, well that didn't plan out obviously and now another 12 months have passed and I look like Brian May.
Anti-frizz serum is useless at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only person who looks ridiculous.

Shocking. It’s curly. I trimmed it myself in November but actually took about 5 inches off by mistake. It’s grown a lot but mostly into a fluffy triangle.

Quadrangle · 22/03/2021 15:55

I had mine cut in December. I usually get it cut every 2 months. It's not too bad yet but not brilliant either. Last year I did the unicorn cut for the front and then got my teenage dc to cut the back when it got unbearable. I dye it myself and it is due in April but looking badgery already

ExConstance · 22/03/2021 15:55

Mine is Okish. It actually suits me much longer than I usually have it but it is a bit dry and straggly. Under the fringe is very grey but the bits you can see are fine from a colour point of view. Having said that I can't wait until 20 April when I have my first appointment since early December.

HintOfVintagePink · 22/03/2021 15:58

Like Dougal, with 2/3 regrowth and a chunk missing at the front on the left where I attempted the Mumset trim

Tootsey11 · 22/03/2021 15:58

Mine is nearly down to my arse, full of split ends. Was tempted to let the teenager at it with a pair of scissors, but refrained.

What does irk me is the number of women who have told me they are paying their hairdresser for a home visit.

LunaNorth · 22/03/2021 15:59

Not too bad! I’ve gone from a long bob to shoulder length and the condition is ok.

One of my colleagues is an ex-hairdresser so she’s cut my fringe for me, and DH applied a colour I got from e:Salon and did a cracking job!

Still looking forward to a proper trim in April though.

Quadrangle · 22/03/2021 15:59

Oh and I've had menopausal hair thinning for a year now.

TokyoSushi · 22/03/2021 16:01

OK. It's quite dry, but long so it doesn't necessarily matter that it's not been cut and I home dye anyway. I've just ordered some L'Oreal 8 Second Wonder Water on Amazon as it's currently half price to see if that will help.

Cocolapew · 22/03/2021 16:02

Great, I cut it myself anyway and stopped dyeing it 2 years ago and went grey.

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 22/03/2021 16:03

Mine is just ludicrously long now. I didn’t have it cut last summer/autumn because I hate wearing a mask for long periods of time so avoided it, but now it’s getting a bit much. I’ve always done my own dye so at least that’s no change.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2021 16:04

Mine is long, straight fair hair which just carries on downwards. I usually have it cut to about shoulder length twice a year... It's now about breast length, or at least where they used to be.... The hair looks fine, i suppose, not entirely sure it suits the rest of me nowadays. Grin

CounsellorTroi · 22/03/2021 16:06

I'm in Wales and salons have just opened here Just got back Smile.

augustusglupe · 22/03/2021 16:09

Awful. I have very thick hair and it's grown a lot. I only went last November, but I would normally go every 7 weeks, so this is a long time for me.
I'm too old to rock the grunge look, I just look a mess. I've got 2 inches of very grey roots and it's gone very lank, even the day after washing. I can't be bothered to do anything to it.
Luckily I've got an appointment at the end of next month..fingers crossed.

ThistlyPerf · 22/03/2021 16:10

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

It’s bad, I was deluded enough to think I did a good enough job with box dye and and nail scissors, but it’s bad, I could be an extra in Vikings.
I love the hair in Vikings !! Both the men and the women Grin
Meowchickameowmeow · 22/03/2021 16:13

Not too bad really, my fringe is down to my chin and there's a little more grey than I'd like but it could be much worse.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/03/2021 16:20

I'm OK. Hairdressing is one of those things that tends to hit my procrastination field anyway and my hair grows quickly so it tends to be longer and low maintainence anyway. Fortunately it takes the MN cut well and I'm used to doing my own fringe each month. I already had decent scissors. I'm generally my natural colour anyway although still sporting the remains of my winter temporary colour that perks it up until the sunshine lightens it.
I'll keep DIYing until the face masks go.

The males in my life...
I'm getting the hang of DS2.
DS1 is looking a bit hacked. I had been getting the hang of giving him a bob, but he chewed the ends like crazy in recent months and I've had to hack them off and see what I coulddo from there before sensory overload kicked in.
DH... I've pointed out that he's paid professionals for worse cuts Grin

2bazookas · 22/03/2021 16:20

Considering I've been cutting it myself for over a year, my pixie cut is looking pretty damn good ; my hair dressing skills get better every time.

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2021 16:22

Thank goodness for olaplex and ponytails!

The condition is much better than last lockdown. Lots of grey roots though.

Dyra · 22/03/2021 16:23

About the same as usual, but massively in need of a trim now.

I last had a hair cut January 2019. I planned on getting it cut that September before my baby arrived, but fate had other plans. I then planned on getting it cut when baby turned 6 months and could go a few hours between feeds (she refused bottles). But then March 2020 happened, and every time I've managed to get an appointment since, it gets cancelled.

krustykittens · 22/03/2021 16:24

It was cut into a pixie and needs a lot of thinning before lockdown so right now I look like a cross between a lego man and a werewolf

ghostyslovesheets · 22/03/2021 16:27

not too bad - has it cut in the summer and before Christmas - due to be done again Feb ! so am waiting now for the next slot to be booked

My hairdresser has sorted me out with root dye in between - with a really good home kit - so greys not too bad

It's LONG though - really long and needs a trim

LadyOfTheFlowers · 22/03/2021 16:33

Fantastic because I wear wigs Grin

Emeraldshamrock · 22/03/2021 16:37

Mine is awful yellow with no tones. I did have a good cut on Decemberand tried a box dye in January which made it a golden yellow. Blush

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 22/03/2021 16:40

What is Olaplex? I keep hearing about it and people say it's fabulous, what do you do with it?

My hair is just above hip length and after 2 years of not colouring it I have a natural balayage going on so the colour is beautiful! I don't want to lose that but the condition is awful, I've got so many split ends, it's dry and frizzy, thick but thin at the same time if that makes sense, I've resorted to a messy bun every day since mid last year because It's impossible to get it to cooperate with any other style and just looks horrible.

I thought it was going to be one of those things people rave about that are a bit emperor’s new clothes. When I had my hair coloured last, my hairdresser used some and the condition of my hair was amazing. I bought number 1 and 3. It’s not cheap, but basically you put it on your hair once a week and it supposedly fixes the bonds in your hair making it stronger. I’m not convinced of the “science” claims but my hair looks so much better than before.
