Possibly done to death but do they or at least the majority and if so are you ok with it ?
No real back story but have reason to believe that my bf does now and again ... mainly through presumption of women he follows on Facebook ... first six pictures etc.
I know he also games with many men and women throughout the world through that platform so he has many' friends' from that..
He doesn't like or comment on the women's posts but they show up now and again on the six profile pics of his friends on Facebook .
Am I being a prude/ presumptuous / overthinking .

I guess I didn’t watch it often and didn’t really think about boyfriends watching it. My dh was open he did now and then. I always assumed these are porn stars who make a career out of it willingly. I watched a documentary and started doing some reading and realised the depravity and abuse and was really upset about it as was my dh.
We have daughters and just the thought of them in that situation, those poor women.
If people know this goes on and still watch they are wrong in the head

VaryCherry · 21/03/2021 19:42

Like I said. There is the "Bad" kind of porn and the "Not Bad" kind of porn. I am def not ignorant to the porn industry as I have been viewing it since I was a teenager (long before the internet).

People are free to watch whatever kind of porn they like (as long as it's legal). The main porn sites that most are familiar with are legal sites. Professional producers are all licensed and have strict laws they must adhere to when making it, and amateure home made porn also must follow strict rules and legal regulations to post their content on such sites. In North America porn is very heavily policed and regulated. Me and my DH make our own and generate a rather large income from it. Neither of us are "Harmed" in the process as it's completely consensual. Porn boils down to two things........Voyeurism & Exhibitionism. All porn is Voyeurism & Exhibitionism, and there are hundreds of thousands of people who enjoy these two things. Thus why porn exists, why it generates over a trillion dollars a year globally.

LexMitior · 21/03/2021 19:51

I can’t help but note that voyeurism is a crime. An exhibitionist too in certain circumstances. It’s not much to aim for.

With tonnes of illegal content on. Anyone who thinks the the big sites don't have rape, coersion, revenge porn on them, is to use a much favoured word on this thread, naive.

MrsWP · 21/03/2021 20:00

My DH did when we met (at Uni) but hasn't for a long time.

He doesn't find the exploitation of women a turn on.

You are a confused.

If voyeurism was always a crime, porn could not legal. And it is legal. To each their own.

Well, it’s great that you and your DH generate an income from this and have fun, and if you are both happy, then in a perfect world it should be allowed to go on.....

Trouble is, it ain’t a perfect world, is it, babe? And I can’t ever accept that you and your DH’s need to earn your living (important as that is) overrides the girls’ need to not be exploited and raped. I’m sorry. It just dain’t.

LexMitior · 21/03/2021 20:56

@VaryCherry

It is you are confused. I suggest you start with upskirting and come back to me, and indeed perhaps the whole Sexual Offences Act.

Porn is not “legal”, it depends what is in it. Hopefully you actually thought about any of this before commencing your career. Presumably you don’t do anything where you have to sustain any kind of professional rep other than being good viewing.

Yes, pornhub just had to delete a huge percentage of their content because it was all so regulated and above board, eh? Heavily policed and regulated - pull the other one!

You are speaking from a place of massive privilege - just because you have the autonomy to choose what you do and when does not mean that everyone involved in the industry has the same. Which is apparent to anyone who’s spent a few minutes reading testimonials of former porn actresses. I’m not sure if you’re being wilfully ignorant or incredibly naive. But the point is that nobody watching whatever you produce can ever be sure they can tell the difference between consensual porn uploaded with consent and filmed rape / revenge porn, and yet millions of men seem happy to wank to it regardless.

I’ve been in a relationship with a porn addict, I know exactly the harm it can do. You’re living in a bubble and failing to question the industry because you’re profiting from it. Grim.

Mother2princess · 21/03/2021 21:27

Well I know my dh does not look at porn does not follow women on insta or Facebook

Doesn't matter weather people believe it or not he doesn't do it

RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 21:29

@Mother2princess I can't work out whether that's a sarcastic comment or not. You never know on here.

Flowers24 · 21/03/2021 21:32

Such naive people here, yes my husband is lovely and Yes most men will look.at porn.

Is naive the go to word on this topic
RevolvingPivot · 21/03/2021 21:35

It's mad how you know how your other half spends all of his his time. What he does in the shower and toilet. What he looks at on his phone.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 21/03/2021 21:37

Are you addressing anyone in particular revolving

Deathgrip · 21/03/2021 21:37

How do you know which women want to do it? Do you think they write on a woman’s forehead whether she’s there because she just loves sex so much, whether she’s there because she’s desperate for money, whether she needs drugs to get through a shoot, whether she’s trafficked?

It’s extremely ironic you’re calling other people naive.

This thread is so profoundly depressing

Norwaydidnthappen · 21/03/2021 23:03

I suspect my DH still does although I genuinely don’t know when because he’s either at home or at work and I can’t figure out when he’d have chance to at home. All I can think is when he has a shower really which is a bit grim... I only suspect this because our sex life has dipped a bit since our baby was born and I know he has a fairly high sex drive so stands to reason he’s watching it somewhere. He definitely watched it a lot when we first met, he’d been single for a long time and it was habitual.

I’ve only dated one man who didn’t watch porn. He was also a vegan hipster so he didn’t watch because he believed all of the women involved were being abused.

VaryCherry · 22/03/2021 00:32

Actually both Porn Hub and Hamster X have temporarily shut down uploading to the site unless you are a verified premium member. Me and my DH have our own premium channel with our own premium content that people pay to watch.

AnotherSunrise · 22/03/2021 00:35

DP doesn't

midnightstar66 · 22/03/2021 06:18

My last ex didn't, neither in a relationship or when he was single. Others have. There's too much variation to be able to apply such a sweeping statement.

Indeed. And why have they done that? Because credit card processing companies threatened to withdraw services.

Why? Because of the volume of potentially illegal content on their websites. Eg. Rape, child sexual abuse footage, revenge porn, illegal voyeuristic footage, etc.

Not because it’s all so terribly well policed and regulated, eh?

I guess the Girls Do Porn case passed you by too?

It’s obviously your choice whether you’re involved in the industry or not. Not everyone in it has that choice, which you should be aware of, but it seems you would prefer to stick your fingers in your ears.
