I didn’t know places like this existed in London! So Am I being unreasonable in thinking that it would be amazing? Or is there something I’m missing?!

OP posts:
CuntyMcBollocks · 09/03/2021 06:59

I suppose it would be great if you like that sort of thing, but I don't see what's particularly amazing about it. You could get so much more for your money elsewhere for that price, and its not to my taste at all, but whatever floats your boat.

OfTheNight · 09/03/2021 07:04

That’s the most boring house I’ve ever seen. I’d hate a shared garden too.

HazeyJaneII · 09/03/2021 07:18

I must admit I was expecting a moomin house or something like this...

joystir59 · 09/03/2021 07:20

Nah. Where I live is magical with breathtaking sea views from.my living room, two beaches a five minute walk away. And my 4 bed Georgian terraced house would cost £170k 3 hrs ago. No where near London though.

daisypond · 09/03/2021 07:21

A garage is quite unusual in London but this doesn’t seem a useful one. If it could be converted to make another reception room alongside the kitchen it would be better.

Morgan12 · 09/03/2021 07:25

I think its horrible tbh. Tiny and claustrophobic.

Magical 😂😂😂😂

NormanStangerson · 09/03/2021 07:26

@MrMucker

OP definitely working for selling agent! All they have posted about is the beautiful low maintenance orchid space, which has been duly derided in the responses. And which mention of has now been completely removed from the advert. There's a thing.
Grin

It’s such a depressing little house. Useable space divided into tiny bedrooms, miserable garden and all for three quarters of a million.

The service charge would be savage.

Nith · 09/03/2021 07:46

They're very, very quiet in the particulars about the service charges, but as you'd have to pay for the upkeep costs of the gardens and orchard that would be a major worry for me. Quite often on programmes like Escape to the Country they show properties which are part of a divided-up former stately home, but for the same reason I wouldn't touch them with bargepole.

Shoxfordian · 09/03/2021 08:19

Yeah I wondered what the service charges would be as well. Also streatham is not magical Grin

pinkearedcow · 09/03/2021 08:29

I agree that the house itself is not particularly wow. The gardens are nice, though, but I bet the service charges are high.

P.S estate agents if you are reading - you have a grocer's apostrophe in the description: "including it's very own apple orchard.

HepLaurenceLB · 09/03/2021 11:00

What is with all the Streatham bashing? It has improved quite a bit in the last 10 years, we have Gastro pubs and Kite festivals, the lovely Rookery gardens, vegan restaurants, outstanding primary schools and lots of parks. To name just a few good things.

Yes crime is high and some people can be a bit scary however that is true of anywhere in London.
Streatham is improving and Streatham Vale is a lovely little community. I am sad that we are leaving soon.

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/03/2021 11:12

The decor is naff and looks cheap. I dread to think of the grounds maintenance costs on top of a mortgage.

I don't get it sorry, Kent and Sussex are within an hour and you could get a full detached country house with your own orchard for the same money.

CounsellorTroi · 09/03/2021 11:20

Absolutely nothing about that house looks welcoming.

Cloudyrainsham · 09/03/2021 11:45

It’s lovely but I need a proper garden.

Nitflux · 09/03/2021 11:54

@enigma16

Magical Streatham! Grin
@enigma16 hahaha brilliant - “magical Streatham”. I think you mean St Reatham Grin
HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 09/03/2021 12:22

The bathroom is hideous! And the carpet... why?

ShowOfHands · 09/03/2021 12:28

I've a friend who lives in a mews house in a more desirable part of London. It's good for London living in terms of outside space and he's v close to everything he needs but it's not magical.

For that money I could buy a local large detached 7 bed property with lots of land, a lake and walled Victorian garden. It's truly beautiful.

Rubyupbeat · 09/03/2021 12:29

It's not my thing, but seems a good price for the area.
Maybe the lease is up in a yearGrin

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/03/2021 12:31

I think it looks nice.

Those box rooms being on a different floor to the main rooms would annoy me as you’d never want to put a baby on a different floor, but they’d be crap as spare rooms.

draughtycatflap · 09/03/2021 12:34

Lovely outdoor space. I moved in I couldn’t wait to set up the trampoline for the kids. 😬

LostToucan · 09/03/2021 12:45

I bet there's a list of covenants as long as your arm, ruthlessly enforced by Brenda from the Residents Association.

Candyfloss99 · 09/03/2021 12:48

Can't think of anything worse than having to share a garden, I think I would rather even have no garden.

MrsFezziwig · 09/03/2021 13:39

I always think posts like this are the last ditch attempt of a desperate seller. Presume OP hasn’t been back?

As I live in an unfashionable part of the north, at least the price tag has given me a bit of a laugh!

KindnessCrusader · 09/03/2021 13:41

I thought it was going to be a castle or something!

Nothinglikeachocolatebrownie · 09/03/2021 13:58

I am definitely not working for the agent. I have NOTHING to do with this listing. I just came across it and thought it was nice, that's all.
