No - Team Windsor

Nothing - Don’t really care!

Normally the Royals bore me senseless but this is actually quite interesting!

I always felt that Meghan was being badly treated by our tabloids, especially the Mail. Now I've read up on it a bit I'm realising there's maybe more to it.

Distiller91 · 08/03/2021 11:00

Team abolish the monarchy

Pickupapigeon · 08/03/2021 11:01

I think it’s hugely narcissistic and misguided to commission such a high profile interview complaining how hard your life is as royalty at a time of global crisis. This will be the pinnacle of their fame. Hopefully for them there will be some nice coverage when their daughter is born, but otherwise it’s all downhill from here.

Blancah · 08/03/2021 11:01

Harry, though. I reserve special contempt for him. Nothing lower than throwing your family under the bus for the sake of status / money

Geeee, I wonder who else's family did very similar Hmm oh yeah - Meghans.

@Cowgran

Team middle ground.

Boring I know. But am a big believer in that there are 3 sides to every story. Side A, side B and the truth.

This 100%

I think there is fault on both sides.

I think MM has been treated appallingly by some of the media and some of it is racist. I don’t think that being part of RF is an easy life and I don’t think she was aware of what she was joining. You can google etc all you like but even then until you are on the inside it is very hard to know. Unlike Diana and Kate, she was older and previously lived an independent life so the adjustment of suddenly not being able to do things her way would be even harder. I don’t blame her or Harry for wanting out but I think they’ve handled it very badly. Some of the things they’ve said in the interview also don’t add up.

I also don’t think the RF have handled them leaving well either and appeared to not have learnt from past experience (Diana and Sarah Ferguson, Sophie Wessex) so there is blame on both sides.

We’ve heard one side of the story not the other and I suspect that side B also have aspects that don’t add up. There is their truth, the palace’s truth and the real truth- something which we will never fully know.

Uronmute · 08/03/2021 11:02

Entirely irrelevant to most people, and I couldn’t care less who’s said what.

RaspberryCoulis · 08/03/2021 11:02

And the "oh we actually married three days earlier" - WTF? I bet the GRO are getting a lot of requests for a copy of hte marriage certificate today, because it's a matter of public record. Unless Ms Markle is alleging that they committed registration fraud, with the collusion of the Archbishop of Canterbury?

DynamoKev · 08/03/2021 11:02

Also whining about being cut of financially irritated me. They left the job and left the country. Who gets paid for a job they don't and won't do? They have millions in their own right.
Yes. The fucker could get a job like anyone else has to.
Can you imagine the outrage if the Queen hadn't stopped his pocket money? She was actually saving him from himself.

Doris86 · 08/03/2021 11:03

@AmazoniaBun

In the midst of a global crisis, it’s totally irrelevant!! I’m not a supporter for the monarchy. Harry and Meghan are a pair of self-obsessed twits without a grip on reality.
Well said!
FuckyouBrennan · 08/03/2021 11:04

Team palace. I don’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth. I also don’t believe a word Haz says after claiming his sons first word was crocodile 😂

Signalbox · 08/03/2021 11:05

All of this was so boringly predictable right from the start.

I can't work out why anyone is surprised or shocked by any of it.

foxhat · 08/03/2021 11:05

I've only seen the news coverage of the interview. It sounds very intense in the RF and given how stuffy and out of touch it comes across as, that's not surprising. I can imagine it feels stifling. But I am confused as to Megan's complaint about getting no help when she felt mentally unwell. What help does she think people normally get and what stopped her setting something up herself? Does she think that the rest of us have people who make things OK for us when we feel as shit as she did? What did she actually expect to happen? The being 'cut-off' from family money has been giving us a laugh in my house this morning. We're 'complaining' that neither of our parents pay our bills and expect us (in our 40's) to pay our own way in life. Is that what being 'cut off' means? I.e. living a real life? Sooooo out of touch to use language like that. They sound very entitled and spoilt with those sorts of complaints.

GabsAlot · 08/03/2021 11:06

they want out but they want the money cant have both

Pyewackect · 08/03/2021 11:06

A billionaire interviewing two millionaires in their $16m Montecito manson on how awful their lives have been.

Whydidimarryhim · 08/03/2021 11:07

None of them live in the real world and have no clue to what day to day lives of their people are!!!
The queen has done a great job.
Who cares that Prince Phillip is in hospital. He’s 99!!! He’s going to die. It’s a given.
Supposedly they don’t even put paste on their toothbrushes!! No wonder they live till a ripe old age.
They have a glamorous lifestyle. Great food and great healthcare.
The rest of them are dysfunctional. Like most families except they lack insight into the real world.
I’m team none of them.

Wroxie · 08/03/2021 11:07

You are all pathetic for caring so much about these people. They built their wealth over thousands of years through theft, empire-building and slavery and have proven time and time again to be nasty, tasteless, stupid, petty, venal, and uninteresting people in every way. Andrew should be prosecuted for his pederasty and every ill-gotten penny, acre, jewel, and brick should be returned to the people of the UK. Give the old ones a standard government pension for their years of 'service' (barf) and two-up-two-down semi somewhere affordable and abolish the whole system from the queen down to the fifteenth earl of shitsville.

icdtap · 08/03/2021 11:07

I'm Team Palace despite being a republican.
Personally I think the monarchy should be abolished when the Queen dies.
I have no idea why Meghan and Harry are still courting all this attention when they said they wanted privacy. They wanted to move to LA and not be working royals.... bye then! They got what they wanted. What is the problem?
They need to stop preaching to us about things too, like the environment, while living in their mansion.

I can well believe that someone in the RF made the racist comment about baby Archie. However, the colour of Archie's skin was not the reason he was not given the title Prince. The rules about who is or isn't a Prince or Princess are laid down in the Royal Protocols.
Meghan must know this. I am sure someone has explained this to her at some point. I know this and I'm some random pleb from Newcastle.
If Harry or Charles did not explain this then they were very remiss.
If she knew this, then she is deliberately deceiving people by implying that Archie was not given the title Prince because of his skin colour. That is very manipulative and makes it more difficult for people to believe anything else she says.

foxhat · 08/03/2021 11:07

Team palace. I don’t believe a word that comes out of her mouth. I also don’t believe a word Haz says after claiming his sons first word was crocodile

so agree!!!!! My son's was 'car'. Daughter's was 'mama'. Archie managed 3 syllables??!!!!! Suggests a whole lot of not understanding all the simpler words which must have come first. Is that not noticing or if you asked his nanny would they have said otherwise?

yaddayaddaa · 08/03/2021 11:09

They are all a shitshow, as far as I’m concerned.

But Harry and Meghan just come out looking pathetic. Talk about up their own arses.

If you claim someone has made racist comments, then either name them or shut up. It’s not fair to just drop that and invite all the inevitable speculation. They knew exactly what they were doing. Disgusting actually.

Plus, I’m fed up of her claiming she speaks for black women. Yes her mother is black, but MM would not encounter the same kind of racism in everyday life as the average black woman because frankly, nobody would have a clue she was mixed-race if she didn’t tell them. If she wants to talk ‘skin tone,’ well, I’m Spanish and my ‘skin tone’ is darker than hers. My children are half Indian - one of them has blue eyes and you would never think she was half Indian. She wouldn’t walk around claiming to understand how it feels to experience everyday attitudes / micro-aggressions towards Indian women because she has never experienced this herself. Nobody would have a clue about her ethnicity if she didn’t tell them and it’s the same with MM. if anything, Harry would probably invite more comments for his red hair.

Having said this, I would not put it past the royal family (particularly the older members) to make racist comments. But we didn’t need this interview to tell us that.

So, Harry and Megan. Drop the wide- eyed, woe-is-us malarkey. It doesn’t wash. Name and shame or shut up, frankly. The world has bigger problems than your ‘mental health’ and security. Get a therapist like the rest of us.

onlychildandhamster · 08/03/2021 11:10

I don't like meghan but I voted YABU, because her allegations are very serious- racism and her severe mental health problems, and they must be addressed. I think the tabloids have been racist and in this day and age, its not acceptable.

People think they are defending the monarchy by ignoring Meghan's testimony but they are also saying that vulnerable people with suicidal thoughts should not share their feelings. If the public doesn't believe a Duchess why would they believe you. Meghan probably wouldn't read your tweet/post that you don't believe her, but someone with mental health issues probably would.

And if you are saying that institutional racism/gaslighting/ignorance about mental health are part and parcel of being a member of the Royal Family, then why are we still preserving it?

CovidKingfisher · 08/03/2021 11:12

@Radio4Rocks

He's married his mother. Weak men often do.

#teamQueenie

Absolutely this.
👏👏👏👏

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 08/03/2021 11:13

Team Saxe-Coburg-Gotha

phoenixrosehere · 08/03/2021 11:13

She could have probably said way worse about the RF but didn’t. She cleared up a rumour about her making Kate cry when it was actually Kate that had made her cry, Kate apologising with flowers and going further to say Kate was an absolute lovely person.

She admits she was naive coming into it and said that there was a lack of support where she wasn’t really shown the ropes as many people seemed to assume and she had to learn on her own. She had thoughts of suicide and thought it would be better if she took her own life because she was seemingly the problem so it would be better for everyone. She had asked for help but was dismissed. The whole skin colour convo I can relate to. My in-laws at least waited until after the baby was born to make comments.

Harry said that his grandmother knew about them and wasn’t blindsided like it has been assumed and/or reported. He also asked for more support for them and that didn’t happen.

Tbh, none of what either has said surprises me in the slightest. I think the actions of the RF bringing up an investigation about bullying claims against Meghan from three years ago before this interview was a ridiculous move. They obviously were quite worried what she/they were going to say and jumped the gun.

merrygoround88 · 08/03/2021 11:14

It’s not that binary, they all seem hideous but I particularly dislike Harry and Meghans whinging
