Nothing - Don’t really care!

Zara Philips' facial expression - caught on camera - during the sermon at H&M's wedding was disgusting. Put me right off her, and I'd previously thought she was OK.

I agree, that mouth is someone struggling to contain a smirk. Also, Kate and Camilla side eye. So immature. Thought these people are meant to have class?

Team Meghan or Team Windsor?
GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/03/2021 18:19

'The family are handling this sorry mess with a lot more class and dignity than the spoilt grandson and his bride.'

I wonder if they were hoping for a long winded speech, bowing and scraping whist apologising for all the allegations. I feel sorry for all the staff who I bet bent over backwards to support them as everyone could see this is how it could pan out.

It's all just beyond awful. Harry has thrown his whole family under a mahoosive bus. He'll end up a sad lonely old man as I bet his use by date is very nearly up. Or can they keep milking these allegations?

mainsfed · 09/03/2021 18:22

You do realise Harry grew up in the system, knows how it works. Why would he expect a long winded speech from them?

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/03/2021 18:23

'agree, that mouth is someone struggling to contain a smirk. Also, Kate and Camilla side eye. So immature. Thought these people are meant to have class?'

Oh unclench. They're humans, not robots. Haven't we all sniggered or eye rolled when a vicar goes on and on and on. And he did go on..

Butteredtoast55 · 09/03/2021 18:25

Perhaps because he genuinely feels aggrieved and as though they need to listen to what he is saying. He has now said his father isn't returning his calls and today there was the drip feed that the Queen refused to see them. Maybe he feels he had to do this interview to back them into a corner so they will then spout forth with as much verbal diarrhoea as he has.

Well, by their 2 hour gossip show attack? He may have thought his goading would illicit a lengthy emotional response.

I hope they now ghost him as H&M have done to her df for doing much less.

Not when 2billion around the world are watching. The sniggering started very early on in his speech, in the first third. These people clearly felt superior.

mainsfed · 09/03/2021 18:28

I don't think you have any idea how PR statements work. They are not about verbal diarrhoea and they are not written by the Queen or Charles or William.

mainsfed · 09/03/2021 18:28

That's not how PR works.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/03/2021 18:29

My thoughts exactly @GetOffYourHighHorse. Smirking slightly at an excessive sermon or speech is at most bad mannered. I recall watching it and thinking "is this guy still going!"

ajandjjmum · 09/03/2021 18:29

His father wasn't returning his calls, and I think it was back in January 2020 that HM cancelled a meeting. He did clarify that he and his father were talking in the interview - although whether they are still, who knows?

Bunnyfuller · 09/03/2021 18:31

@mainsfed

‘In the first third’.

Because it was long enough to divide into gargantuan thirds. Weird, I saw M and H smirk through it too.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 09/03/2021 18:31

'That's not how PR works.'

Harry seems to be making it up as he goes along.

I pity him I really do, he seems to be projecting all the grief and angst from his upbringing onto this sorry saga.

Harry really is a knob.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 09/03/2021 18:32

For him to mention the money being cut off (which is what mere mortals have to expect when they resign from their job) I suspect that is the main reason for the gut spilling.

That's not what I think - it's where I think Harry's mind might be. He seems to have completely forgotten so much more about how the royal household operates that it seems likely he will also have forgotten that a carefully-thought out and dignified statement would be the likely response.

OnlyTeaForMe · 09/03/2021 18:35

Yup - that statement is perfect.

The media will try to pick over it all for days (weeks?) but in the absence of any further discussion from the RF it will soon become old news.

The Sussexes will soon realise this was a mistake.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/03/2021 18:36

I feel like the focus from the interview has been so completely on the racism within the comment about their baby's skin tone that a lot of the other things have slipped by. I would have loved Emily Maitlis to have been interviewing him when he was blathering about being cut off financially, and how hard done by they are.

We have absolutely no idea what that was in connection with.

More speculation

And Piers Morgan is going...

We giggled throughout. Expecting anyone to keep a straight face is ridiculous. It went on for ever.

So you think a man who grew up in the Firm, who described the relationship between the RF and the press, and how the press need to wined and dined to publish the right 'stuff' and who described how trapped Charles and William are in that system, is going to suddenly forget all that and expect a public outpouring of verbal diarrohea?

DoreenWinkings · 09/03/2021 19:03

It's Kate in Diana's position and William, in my view, learnt the right lessons from his Mother's experience. Though he and Kate met young they waited years to marry, she learnt how to handle the press attention, learnt the ropes, he made absolutely sure this was the life she wanted and was as well prepared as anyone marrying in could be for it.

This gets said a lot. But to be honest the way the RF have dealt with Kate always seems really off to me.

It appears that what they learned from the 'Diana saga is that unlike the days of yore modern aristocratic girls (regardless of their naivety or youth) have opinions and ideas of their own. They know what the RF is about, and they aren't willing to just sit there and put up with their bs.
So for William they found a nice MC girl (whether Kate went out looking for him is neither here nor there really, she'd have had no clue what being 'royal' actually meant for her) and spent 10 years grooming her to be the perfect royal wife. She goes where she's told, she says what she's told. She has babies and looks good in clothes. She never utters an opinion on anything.
They have her exactly where they want her, she's never even held down a job - and lets not
kid ourselves that the RF couldn't have had the press leave her alone if they wanted to, they bloody could). She has literally nothing to fall back on if she decides she's not happy with William.
And it's held up as some great virtue on their part. It's bloody creepy.

4 minutes in hardly gargantuan.

That's a lovely piece of news Grin
