What are your underwhelming skills that you’re privately quite proud of

Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

All the people skills came with experience with people... not all of it good, but I learned from it all.
The sniffing and hearing and reading in reverse and using both hands and reciting the alphabet backwards I could always do.
Time telling I just realised one day as an adult. Not sure how long I could do it.
Preparing for future scenarios is part and parcel of having anxiety I think. It's actually me imagining the worst case scenario for everything and not being able to feel at ease until I've prepared for every possible outcome!
I forgot to mention one, Ddot's post reminded me... domestic pets gravitate towards me. They will try to sit on me or near me, even the shy/suspicious ones. And I'm bloody allergic to them!

I can negotiate with temperamental machinery at work. It's nothing special skills wise, I don't do anything different. I'll come in and be told we have an engineer coming for X machine. I go over to it, switch it on and fiddle with it a bit and it will work. Won't hear another peep out of it until I've gone home.

I also have an uncanny memory for topstock. Ask me where any item is out of the hundreds up there and I can tell you exactly.

I, too, tend to be anxious...which I have found helps me be super aware of my surroundings and helps me pick up on people's energy... as to whether they are kind or sinister. I too can read upside down and backwards, but I can barely say the alphabet the right way much less backwards...
You have super powers and have taken them to the whole next level...therefore, I am still nominating you for....

Have you had your DNA tested? I had mine done and it came back that I am extremely healthy when it comes to genetically passed on diseases and conditions and that I have traits for Neanderthal DNA ! Ha!...more than 60% than the rest of the participants! That explains a lot!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Now, I don't necessarily believe that I descended from the mating of a Neanderthal's with a regular human, but I do know that I am definitely different to the average Joe...Medications affect me very differently than they do most people...they have the opposite effect....
It's been kind of tough fitting in with all these 'normal' people my whole life, but this thread has shown me that there are more of us out there than I knew.

Well then you may find that you've descended from so called "Neanderthals" if you have your DNA tested as apparently from which many of my unusual traits have come....although I'm not quite sure that the 'angry , vicious' quality would qualify

@Sweetpea1532 I haven't had my DNA tested - on one hand I am intrigued with the idea and on the other hand I'm okay with not knowing. If there is a clan out there that is genetically quick to anger I'm probably that.

I couldn't be ruler of the world though, I have too many bad traits that would outweigh my strengths. Plus that kind of responsibility would send my anxiety through the roof! I'd never sleep. So many assassination attempts! 🤣

But I agree the people on this thread are all amazing. We all really take ourselves for granted and tend to focus on our flaws, it's nice to see people talk about their skills. I don't consider any of them to be underwhelming at all!

Of course I fully understand your anxiety at accepting the position....I have often wondered if on the morning after a national election if a new leader (especially in the US) says to themselves, "Oh my goodness, what have I done?! Now everyone is expecting me to fix things and if they don't like me, I could be assassinated!" Power isn't all its cracked up to be...
I agree that the people on this thread are pretty brilliant with their unusual skills...it IS fun to see pp dig around and come up with their good points for a change.
On that note, I also can pick up things with my toes...comes in very handy when I have an armful of DGC and need to hand my DM something. 😄

I'm quite crafty, like a womble! I can make something rather nice out of crap.

I'm terrible doing anything in the kitchen but my husband is in awe of my record speed egg peeling.

Wow, I wish I had your speedy egg peeling abilities...I'd gladly give up my ability to pick up things with my toes for that talent. I can't even slowly peel eggs..half the white peels off with the shell

I can juggle and ds (19) can unicycle...we will be entertaining you in the streets in the event of apocalypse....

I can normally find things. If I've seen them in an odd place I seem to have a photographic memory for it. I've always been able to do this.

Earlier this week mum told me she'd lost her favourite chopping board and hasn't seen it for months and months so had decided to buy a new one. I told her I'd seen it on the top shelf of the bathroom cupboard in August and thought it a bit odd but forgotten about it. It was still there!

Knowing when to set off so I arrive at my destination at the prefect time. Although it has taken a while to hone this skill, I used to always be annoyingly early to everything.

That's a great skill that I've never been able to develop yet...I'm always annoyingly late to EVERYTHING⌚⏰⏳⌛🕰

I can hear a song I’ve never heard before and immediately tie it to the baseline or rhythm of another song. For example, the new Ellie Goulding song sounds just like Katie Perry’s Teenage Dream. I can also fit made up words to known songs really easily.

I can "remember" a colour in my head and then go out to the shops and buy something to match or tone without having to take a swatch with me.
